17. Okane, you might have to work a full 40 hour week at Burger King now, just to pay your share of the new "bailout tax."
Captain Negative at 2:22PM on Sep 20th 2008
Captain numbnuts -- Won't be any tax increase to pay for it if we just cut the "Social Bullplop" programs like welfare, NPR and other Liberal programs.

18. These loans are about 12% of the total mortgage market yet they account for over 60% of the foreclosures.
Paul Sparcello at 9:35AM on Sep 20th 2008
Yea, I bet all those 12% were $6M or higher loans to buy hugh houses or Condos or investment properties while the remaining 82% where used to buy $100k or less properties!!. You repukes understanding of math and % is astounding. Just like you believe the US donates more money for aid because it is a larger amount than other countries but as a Percentage of GDP is the smallest.
Corruption and governement wastefull spending is much higher by the most powerfull and the wealthy than by the poor by at least 600%.
I live in town of approxamately 100k and about five years ago 3 Pharmacies and 2 Doctors lost their licenses due to Medicaire fraud: worth many more millions than had been paid to poor people in the town.

Well, the last episode was five years ago, and was uncovered during the Bush admin. Just goes to show you that the Republicans are not sleeping at the wheel and won't tolerate this crap. Unlike Democrats that were too concerned with midnight basketball and BJs to see that tech and dotcom stock values were way overinflated, Enron was running uncontrolled, and terrorists were planning 9/11 under their noses.

20. YOUR LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE PRESIDENT IS A GREAT INSIGHT IN TO WHY THE WORLD DISLIKES THIS COUNTRY , DISAGREE BUT WITHOUT BEING RUDE . THE WAR , WELL GUYS WHAT HAS HAPPENED ON THIS SOIL SINCE THE ATTACKS OF 911 . I THINK YOUR SIMPLE MINDS CAN ANSWER THAT "NOTHING" . BE IT THIS PRESIDENT OR OBAMA GOD I HOPE NOT BUT RESPECT SHOULD STILL BE GIVEN THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT.

24. Louis IV: Interesting that Cink started off with "funner" not "funnier" then mocks Bush. Even more interesting is that Cink neglected to point out that Congress didn't stay in DC to do anything since this works to their adavantage in the upcoming elections.
That said, Bush did exactly what needed to be done and very possibly stopped a complete meltdown of the financial sector which would have led to another Great Depression. Yes, it looks bad that the government has to cover for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac until one looks and ses that the government was always the guarantor of both and that neither were purely private entities.
Robert OKane has already listed the Democrats that profited off FNMA and FHMC, two who are or were instrumental in Obama's campaign. To try and say this was Bush's fault is disengenouis to say the least. Congress had oversight of both and Barny Frank is on the oversight committee that should have stopped all this.
In fact, Congress is the main culprit in all of this. It was Congress that pushed for more accessibility for low income income eaners to qualify for a home loan and with Greenspan's continued dropping of the interest rate, it made money available. The problem began when the money ran out and rates became static then rose. That's when the house flippers that "owned" 10-12 houses to just wait until the price went up were caught in a no-demand market, it was priced out and no one was buying. Hello housing bubble pop just like the Dot-com pop. Greed, made easy by govt. policy simply had spread everywhere, and even solid financial companies were exposed to the inevitable coming crash.
Both FNMA and FHMC have been cash cows for politicians since the late 80's, through the 90's and through the 2000's until now, so trying to make it all or any of Bush's fault is stretching it a long way. It's all the fault of the House and the Senate. You cannot have a private company with the government as a partner. It becomes over and badly managed, the government can change monetary policy and screw any plans that were mazde except the government will and does not accept responsibility for it's actions.
Despite the moaning and gnashing of teeth on the left, the economy is still fundamentally sound. Unemployment is around 6.1%, housing sales are up in CA due to lower prices and the govt. gets 12% interest on the money it put up. There is a surplus of available, affordable housing at reasonable prices, so homeowners who will qualify are buying.
Bush started with a recession, then 9-11, Afghanistan and Iraq, which despite the anti-war left's protests were better plans than doing nothing. There were five US and allied countries oil companies ready to go in and rebuild Iraq's oil capabilities, but Congress screwed that so now the Chinese are doing it...who's side is Congress on?
We fight the war, lose 4000+ of our troops and Congress lets China get the bid? That is either treason or sheer stupidity and and insult to those who died or were wounded. FYI, Jaime Gorelick of the "wall of silence" fame made money fron FNMA. A lot of Clintonistas made a lot of money there but where's the outrage?
When the government regulates itself as tightly as it does the private sector, then we will be better off. They can't even begin to account for how much money just disappears from social and educational programs but who cares, there is no accountability.
Since 1964 we have spent 6.7 trillion dollars on the "War on Poverty" yet we still have poor people. It would have been cheaper to just give them million each and make them use a financial advisor so they could maintain a decent standard of living, but no, we had to have a bureauocracy to "hep dem po foks out" and look what it's done to the black community.
That's all Louis IX, there's way more but its been said before. Adieu mon frere

27. Please - save the leftist ignorant comments which are less than a dime a dozen. can you tell me one single thing Obama has done.
did you see his economic press release yesterday morning ? looked down and read the whole thing, when asked questions he stuttered and went around in circles, while getting some mistakes in "we're in the 20 century, and the 20 century past" "tax brakes are against wall street" etc. you dont see those today do you. no one will show him w/out his que cards - he may be able to pronounce the words, but I bet he doesnt even know what he just read.

28. one last thing - the world dislikes us not by what Pres Bush says, but rather by what the nasty media spreads. Pres Bush will be leaving soon probably to a nice retirement, while America has to live with the hatred you all spread around the world. that is more damaging than anything else. take responsibility why dont you. If you feel so great about Obama, then talk about the positive things he will do, etc. you dont have to attack others - is there nothing good you can talk about ?

29. A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.
Pause a moment, reflect back.
These events are actual events from history..
They really happened!!!
Do you remember?
1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male extremist.
2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists.
3. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists.
4. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists.
5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists.
6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists.
7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens , and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists. ( remember the pilot of this flight was from Richmond , MO )
8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists.
9. In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists.
10. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists.
11. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists.
12. In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists.
13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by-- you guessed it-- Muslim male extremists.
Now, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people... Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
According to The Book of Revelation:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.
And Now:
For the award winning Act of Stupidity Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet -- The Presidency of the United states of America .. A Male of Muslim descent who is the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress (in other words an extremist) and in his 40's.
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
