Katie Couric Flusters Sarah Palin
Katie Couric seemed shocked by how little Sarah Palin knew about her own running mate in her one-on-one interview. Two examples: Palin didn't know the McCain campaign manager was still getting money from Freddie Mac, and she couldn't name one thing McCain had done for financial oversight in twenty-six years. And Couric asked her twice. Awkward!

61. Folks, putting aside one's own political persuasions, there is simply no way to defend this woman as being remotely ready to step into the #2 spot in this country. It's very troublesome to me that she uses an interview about one of the biggest crises facing this country to proclaim more campaign rhetoric and take stabs at her opponents, instead of making any clear, informed comments. Watch it again. She says nothing that you or I couldn't have memorized three minutes before the interview.
She's not merely ill-prepared. She's dangerous. Can you only imagine her facing a Cuban Missile Crisis? A Kuwait invasion? 9/11?
Please.

62. YIKES!!!! Anyone else find this scary??!! This interview just solidifies my candidate of choice!
What a mess!

63. Is Couric a journalist or an Obama supporter? Obama is the third largest congressional recipient of funds from fannie mae and freddie mac. Couric questions a paid staffers involvement who hasn't been involved with a firm for two years. Obama was elected with that money. Palin's answers show prudence and the ability to know when to talk and when not to. The interview is a joke, as it started with a biased remark. I would like that same question to be asked of Biden from someone like Bill O'Reilly. I hate O'Reilly but it would involve the same type of bias. Couric lost all credibility in this interview as her questions showed very little knowledge and no creativity. It is hard to know every part of a twenty plus year career. What was her point anyway with repeating that question. She has to be the dumbest interviewer I have ever seen. That was not holding Palin's feet to the fire as much as attempt to make her look bad. If you think that was a good interview you probably get most of your news from ET.

64. anyone who sees this and still thinks she's capable of being anything more than a PTA president is more stupid than Palin is. trying to say she's "refreshing" is laughable. do you people really think it's "refreshing" to have a president or vice president that is frankly ignorant about virtually everything that matters--the economy, foreign affairs, the fact we have three branches of government and what powers are assigned to each branch--most high school students are more qualified than she is! it is absolutely astounding to listen to her and think that anyone thought she was qualified.
and lambasting the press for asking her substantive questions about policy takes the cake. it is an insult to women everywhere to say "Katie COuric was so hard on her..." what, asking her what her candidate has done in the 26 years he has been in office is "unfair"? should Katie just ask whether Sarah would be so bold as to share her moose stew recipes? do you really expect that the public only wants to hear about her ability to shoot and field dress a moose? does being capable of giving birth 4 or 5 times really qualify one to do anything other than reproduce? can someone who had never held a passport until a year ago have any idea about what the world around them is like? for chrissakes, people, it's as if some of you think having education and experience in something other than birthing babies and firing people for pissing off their family is a disqualification from holding elected office.

65. I'm a first time voter in this election, and I'm kind of intimadated by this whole thing, i just KNOW i'm going to do something to look like an idiot at the polling place! i've been reading the blogs for awhile to see what other people think, and well I'm kinda confused. I like Sarah Palin, she seems real put-together and smart, but things aren't always what they seem. What responsibities does Vice President have? Why would she make a good one? Thx

66. Most of you seem to have a brain, but for those of you who don't - how can you possibly think that this woman can handle herself as VP or possibly even president of our country? She has had 2 interviews since accepting the bid - Mr. Biden has conducted nearly 100 since his acceptance. She has fumbled in both interviews. No, she isn't stupid, but she certainly is not qualified for the job. She is the one they call a 'pitbull' - please - a pitbull would not run from the press. And for the person who thinks that Katie C was being too hard - get a clue. KC is doing her job. The American people who don't put their heads up their rear ends on a regular basis want to hear from Mrs. Palin. Put her on the spot. Ask her questions. See what she knows, and more likely, what she doesn't...

67. Couric asked her a question on a subject that has happened relatively recently and she got an answer. Rather than expand upon the answer to get Palin's thought on the subject, she repeated herself. Once again, this shows an intense lack of journalistic integrity. I would have liked to have heard her expand, but that would have helped Palin and shown that she is in touch with average americans. Again this was not an interview as much as an agenda. Couric is a joke. Keep bashing her personally, to the detriment of this election. Please someone tell us what B.O. did concerning the matter of F.M.'s. I truly would be upset if I saw the same type of interview with Obama or Biden by a journalist. Hannity, O'reilly, or Boortz are not journalists they political commentators, so I am not concerned with them interviewing Obama. But this interview was so biased I wish Palin would have got up and left. Instead, she demonstrated her leadership skills and put up the nonsensical ramblings of Courics nit wit mind.

68. This is the most frighteningly ignorant candidate for national office in history. She actually makes George W. Bush sound intelligent! Those of you who inflicted Bush on the rest of us for the last 8 years, you won't do it again. Go ruin some other country. ENOUGH!!!

70. Sarah Palin is honest and that is evident; how REFRESHING! If the future President does not share all of his knowledge with his VP, is this odd? I don't think so. As you remember, Al Gore was dusted off now and then to appear with his Pres and hardly knew anything that was going on. Sarah answered KC questions very congenially and with candor. KC looked a bit angry....grrrr...maybe Sarah looked better than she did..hmmmm

71. Here is what I love. When Mr Obama is put into a situation without a teleprompter he sounds a little bit better than George Bush. When he is not given the questions in advance he is a bumbling fool and can only ramble on about change. I am sick of everyone ripping on Palin and comparing her to Obama and saying Obama is more qualified than her. Ok great, but it is Obama vs McCain.
I think the reason for this is that we know that when one compares Obama to McCain, Obama has no experience. Heck the people he will surround himself with are of the likes of Louis Farrakhan, Ayers, and a ton of other socialists. He despises law enforcement, look at his record in Chicago, he left a wake of destruction. Why do we not hear about all the anti-gang legislation he shot down in Chicago or at least rallied against them.
Just because Palin did not answer Couric's questions about McCain's whole political career does not mean she is an idiot. She has done some good in her state. Since we love to compare Palin to Obama and not Obama to McCain; let us ask Obama to tell us all of the great stuff Biden has done, but not let Obama get a script of the questions.

72. This comment is for Jann, who wrote at 12:52 pm on Sept. 25'08.
Please re-think who you will be voting for in the upcoming Presidential Election; McCain is definitely one of the good'ol boys. He has been in Washington DC for a long, long time; I believe it is 26 years or so.
Palin is not a good'ol boy but she is not sufficiently well-versed in world affairs to be running the greatest country currently in existence on the face of the Earth.
We need someone who will not blow us up. Palin talks of "war with Russia"! This is not only silly talk, but extremely dangerous as well.
If you resent the good'ol boys voting themselves raises and the best health care, you sound like you are more Democratic than Republican.
Please consider that. Were your parents Republican? Many people vote what their families did. It is time to reconsider if that is the case.
Barack Obama is as much an American citizen and a fine one as you or I.
He is also to be admired to even want to take on the US government in its current condition.
Republican President/Vice President and their Staff were only protecting the rich in this country, those who own businesses and control the wealth. They got more and more wealth under Bush's reign. Pres. Bush did not receive the majority vote. Most people knew even then that he was not the best person for the job.

73. Subject: John McCain and Barack Obama
John McCain and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barbershop.
As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber not a word was spoken.
The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation for fear it would turn to politics.
As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Obama in his chair reached for the aftershave.
Obama was quick to stop him saying, 'No thanks, my wife Michelle will smell that and think I've been in a whorehouse,'
The second barber turned to McCain and said, 'How about you?'
McCain replied, 'Go ahead, Cindy doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.'

74. That worthless goddamn couric. is it any wonder Palin has been withhelf from the press? It's identical to allowing obamas' campaign staff to interview her -- maybe even worse. I have not watched couric even ONE TIME at CBS. That won't change.
