After her questionable interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson, Sarah Palin and the McCain camp decided to take a hiatus from the media. But Palin finally decided do an interview with Katie Couric. After watching the interview, people discovered exactly why she took a hiatus in the first place...she has no idea what she's talking about. Cenk Uygur makes the argument in the clip below:

16. The argument that Palin is qualified to be VP because she "seems like a 'regular' person" is disconcernting.
I have many friends, from blue collar to white, with all levels of intelligence, and not one of them is suitable to maintain the responsibility this entails.
They're funny and friendly and good at their careers and like to drink a beer and hunt and fish and shop...but being "regular" should not be a qualification for THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD.
Everybody needs to stop all this blind rhetoric and look very closely very carefully...

What, exactly was it that you just did ?

18. People thought that a hick lawyer from central Illinois was going to be over his head as President. Lincoln proved them wrong.
People thought that a two-bit hack from the Pendergast Machine in Kansas City with no college education wasn't ready to take over, if the president died. Well, FDR died, and Harry Truman became president. And FDR didn't tell Truman about the atom bomb, which showed the level of confidence that FDR had. Yet, Truman ended WWII, helped create NATO, and kept the Russians in check, while presiding over an economy that almost seemlessly switched from war production to consumer produciton.
You don't have to have great command of facts to be a great leader, and having a memory like a steel trap doesn't mean that you will make lousy decisions in a crisis.
George Patton finished at the bottom of his class at West Point, yet he was probably the greatest field commander in the history of the U.S. Army.

20. Sarah Palin if elected will have no powers to "govern" us. She & Biden both are mere figureheads & protege/ee's of the presidency.

Absolutely moronic. Look at the Nixon administration, Bobby.

I counter your argument with two words.
"Governor bush."

23. Bobby you are right on...thanks for the logic in the midst of all this narrow-minded ranting. Hey, is that you, Okane? Are you Bobby now? I've missed ya Honey!
I kinda thought"Oh no" when watching Sarah being interviewed by Couric. She does indeed need some coaching, like Al the Bore Gore was coached (remember what a poor speaker he used to be??. Suddenly being under everyone's critical scrutiny has got to take its toll. I believe Sarah will come into her own, as they say, and truly be great for this country.

25. YOU are calling someone "America hating" Cap Negative? After reading your comments these many months I'd have to say go look in the mirror. You Liberal Losers call it joking and bantering but when someone who doesn't think like you jokes, he/she is a hater.
Has Loser Letterman shut up about McCain cancelling because he was summoned to Washington by the President?

26. Good evening Cenk,
I totally agree with you 100% and you should be honored for stating the facts aloud. So many people are afraid to state the obvious because sarah palin is a white woman, but the more she speaks and interviews, the truth will speak for itself. Her stupidity and unqualified characteristics will shine brighter than the scorching sun. Have a great day Cenk, keep up the outstanding work that you do everyday. Oh by the way I love you sweetheart, will you marry me?

gabrielle at 2:25PM on Sep 26th 2008>>>
Gabrielle, with all due respect.
Sarah Palin while not being the typical Washington insider is actually one of us. She maintains a posture predicated on being a real person in touch with real Americans.
The Obama campaign was predicated on that same principle, "NO WASHINGTON INSIDERS, WE NEED CHANGE". So what does Obama do in his VP pick to promote change? He goes with one of the longest ranking Senators in Washington. I have nothing against Joe Biden, but he's not the shiniest apple on the tree either. He is indeed the quintessential politician that adds mockery to the promise of change.
Who would you feel best talking to about the personal aspect of your life? Joe Biden or Sarah Palin? Who do you trust more in being a breath of fresh air in Washington & having no political ties to the entrenched? Do you believe in the hope of real change or just the idea of it?
You see, there's a tradeoff with constantly saying you're tired of Washington & actually having the guts to choose someone outside that establishment.
If you don't like her for who she is, that's understandable. She's not a village idiot off the streets like the far left is trying to expose her as.
If you want to be fair, give her more than a month to get acclimated to "how" she's supposed to answer questions. You see we're all about that in spite of what we say we want differently, we like the old tried & true mechanical response we get from politicians. It makes us secure whether we believe it or not.....

28. Bobby: when Couric asked Palin how many reform bills McCain had passed, she should have just said I don't know Katie, why did your ratings go into the dumper when you switched programs. BTW, good to see you back.

LoL Ded, that would have been priceless for sure. Maybe in time she'll be able to feel a little more comfortable & secure to think on her feet like that. Thanks for the welcome back, I needed a short break from a few anxieties in life, it's good to be back..
take care
