16. Denise - All you lefties who say you support the military seem to think General Patraeus is making stuff up when he says we cannot leave Iraq precipitously or everything we've gained can be lost and disaster. Why is that so hard to understand? This man has been there and you probably have not.

17. >>>12. Bobby - I just watched 60 Minutes too. When Iraqi shop keepers and customers were asked "are you better off now or when Sadaam was here" - they answered NO. When the group was asked "do you want the Americans to leave" - they answered "YES". No matter how good the situation is there, when do YOU think we should leave? According to McCain, we couldn't leave when "things were bad" - now that the Surge has been so wonderful and successful, why can't we leave when "things are good"??

Denise, if we're on the same page I saw where Leslie Stahl asked the young man in the marketplace those questions. The young man replied "yes" we're better off & said he'd like to see the Americans leave because of the constant raids they carry out.
Now one would believe that CBS wouldn't ask a young man about the virtues of a democratic society of which he knows nothing about at the time other than having his freedom to sell his goods without being blown up by an IED. Do you really expect CBS to give an honest account of what the true picture is without adding a biased question mark?
On the other hand I'd say with absolute certainty the scene they showed of rebels with rifles in the air in that same square only a year earlier was a vast improvement from the past. Wouldn't you agree that's the main theme?
Rest assured Denise, I think the writing is on the wall when all is secured totally there will be a measured withdrawal based on political & security stability. You, myself & all Americans are probably on the same page of leaving the region when our objectives have been reached.
I'd rather leave it to people who know the situation the best as to our future presence maintaining the peace we've provided for them, not the skewed vision of our media....

21. To be sure, Sarah had a few rough moments during that interview with Katie. I believe her problem was trying to be too honest and actually answer the question.
A true politician would know how to slither out of being cornered and slickly skirt the question and blather on about something innocuous-- like Obama for instance. Of course, most media will avoid putting Obama into a corner and if they do they get skewered by their peers. Ask George Stephanopolous.
It will be interesting to see how Palin does perform come Thursday. It will definately determine either a McCain boom in the polls or an Obama presidency.
