16. Bailout deal reached; Update: ACORN, other pork removed. Voter fraud specialists Left Wing Acorn gets no money
Negotiators on Capitol Hill finally reached an agreement on a sweeping bailout of the financial sector by the Treasury early this morning, attempting to head off bank runs and panics around the world when the Asian markets open tonight. The plan includes options for asset insurance that House Republicans demanded, as well as broad accountability for actions taken by Treasury in purchasing assets. The deal also allows a wider group of banks to rid themselves of the toxic assets, created in large part by Congress over the last ten years..
The funding of the Housing Trust Fund, the slush fund that feeds ACORN and La Raza, is out. You can thank House Republicans for enough obstructionism to get that result. Other changes made to the final version of the bailout, according to a source on the Hill, were the removal of several provisions:
Provision to provide unions and other activist groups with proxy access for corporate boards
Provision to mandate shareholder votes on compensation issues (union priority)
Diversion of funds into a housing fund to support left-wing activist groups like ACORN
A provision to allow trial judges to arbitrarily adjust mortgages, creating bonanza for trial lawyers
A provision to require the government to sell to state and local governments at a discount homes the government acquires as a result of foreclosure
It also suspends mark-to-market rules and requires a study on their effects on the collapse.
I guess you could call it a victory for the American people in the mist of this Democrat caused Financial mess.

17. 15. Yeah, Eric, despite the fact that nobody at Air America had ANYTHING to do with it, stealing from charity is REALLY low.Tatiana at 4:00AM on Sep 29th 2008

Tatiana you are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own history.
As thing happened
After a lengthy series of investigative reports on this matter, beginning in July, 2005. it was established not only the fact that Air America Radio has existed largely as part of an ongoing shell game of taking illegal money, $875,000, from a Boys and Girls Charity, but that Al Franken was well aware of the scandal, long before he claimed.
Rather than insist the kids get their money back, Al Franken pushed for an outrageous salary and benefits increase, including a successful demand that he be paid a full year's compensation up front.
Also reported that a community center was investigated after it gave $875,000 to the liberal radio network Air America and it had reached a financial settlement with the city over government funds mishandled by its former officers.
The city's Department of Investigation announced Wednesday that the Gloria Wise Community Center in the Bronx has repaid $625,000 it had received from city agencies for its youth programs and nursery school.
A majority of that money was a refund of overpayments the center received from the city's education department, but at least $250,000 were related to "improper expenditures," by executives, the Department of Investigation said.
Those expenses included pay bonuses and personal expenses by some Gloria Wise officials, said the department.
It declined to elaborate, citing an ongoing criminal probe by the New York Attorney General, but the center's newly installed chief executive, Fred Lewis, said some of the charity's money was used for home renovations and car payments.
Lewis said he expected the case to result in criminal charges, but not against any current administrators or staff.
The organization, which was stripped of its affiliation with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America last summer, has ousted its old board members and has a new personnel, he said.

18. I don't think your sources are credible, I think they are wishful. I've seen video of her Alaska debates, she's very competent. Joe Biden is a drunken blowhard, she won't have to say much to make him look bad. Also, he's old school, it would be hard for him to try to make a pretty woman look like an ass.

acountability!
ALL the CEO, corporate officer and corporate directors of these failed companies. Should have all their personal assets confiscated as number one. Two, should be put in prison for life or executed for treason. Maybe some lobbyists and lawyers,as well! Then this type of shit will stop! No, acountability for their mistakes, gredy actions and out right stealing! Just how many Americans have lost their savings, homes and retirement to these greedy bastarts.
We could be on the very verge of a second American revolution boys and girls!! Common sense is out the window here now! WE NEED IT BACK FAST. LOVE COUNTRY!

21. Tatiana wrote: "When Cindy McCain stole drugs from the American Voluntary Medical Team, she destroyed the charity, which had provided emergency medical and surgical care to impoverished children."
Okay Tatiana, let's tell all the facts here, to counter your misleading blurb: Cindy McCain FOUNDED this charity in 1988 and ran the organization until 1995, when the organization was disbanded and Cindy McCain started a new charitable organization focusing on impoverished children called the Hensley Family Foundation. During the 1988-1995 time period, she took 55 trips overseas to war-torn third-world countries with medical personnel, directing emergency medical care to poor sick children. In 1989, after unsuccessful spinal surgery for two ruptured discs, she developed an addiction to Percocet and Vicodin, two strong pain killers, and directed an American Medical Voluntary Team doctor to write perscriptions for her, suing another person's name. Her parents staged an intervention in 1992 and she attended a drug teatment facility. In 1993, she again had spinal surgery, which alleviated the pain.
Now that the facts have been revealed Tatiana, perhaps you should be more careful what you state in your blurbs.

Kick Biden in the stones?
What...after all the trash talking regarding Palin coming from your neck of the woods, the Republicans are supposed to handle Biden with kid gloves?
Please....

26. the bailout package is in the crapper for the moment. The Dow has slipped 700 points.
Pelosi & Frank playing schoolyard politics while our banking system goes down the tube.
She's quite a diplomatic sort. Before one of the most important pieces of modern day legislation comes before the house for a vote, she takes the podium & starts blaming the Bush administration & the Republican party ideology for the countries financial woes. Then ms. ex valley girl seconds that by accusing house Republicans for backing out on their part after the passage fails. The voting margins were that tight to get the bill passed & ms. diplomacy starts the day out insulting people. The technicality of it is she was ass kissing for Obama playing campaign politics on the House floor.
This woman who has more power than Sarah Palin possibly ever would is running the country into the ground.
That's leadership you can be proud of....

I'll agree with you. It was quite petty to engage in partisan banter before such an important vote. But it was equally petty on the part of the House Republicans to make that the reason that swayed them. The House Republicans are idiots.

28. His father was a Kenyan citizen. This makes Obama a Kenyan Citizen as well.
Yes, wow, now you acknowledge it to, just a bit slow on your part Reverend.
--------------------------------------
FYI: Kenyan law stipulates that upon reaching the age of 21, if a citizen does not renew his Kenyan citizenship, he automatically loses said citizenship. Obama never renewed his citizenship so its a moot point!

So tell me Randy, when the Democrats had enough votes to pass this abortion of a bill without any Republicans, just how does that make House Republicans idiots? They are idiots only if they support this bill as currently written. Let the Democrats pass it...no,that won't happen because they know its toxic waste and they will have no one to blame it on but themselves. Now the Dem leadership can't have that can they. Polls show that people are against this bailout and you screw with their pocketbooks now, you might not get elected and that is he fear of the Democrats now so anxious to make a deal so they can finger point and say you did too cause it was your fault. Let Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and the rest of the Dems eat cake.
