With all the hubbub surrounding the selection process for Sasha and Malia's next school (Sidwell Friends? Georgetown Day?), it's worth remembering that a school is only as good as its teachers. So perhaps we should be focused on the individuals who will be shaping the minds of the adorable First Kids.
Scroll through, then weigh in on who you'd like to see as the Obama girls' next teacher:

61. Well, I for one crossed over to vote for Mr. O....and I stand to lose nothing, cause I have nothing....but pride. Prayers are certainly needed for him and his family...it is a shame to make so much over nothing..would you be happy if he sent one dtr. to public school and one to private as guinea pigs.......??? Let them alone as a family....let's focus on communication with them as unsolicited advisors only where it concerns American policy. C. Owen

"JillJG---stop hating! It's not Obama's fault that you (or the poor families in DC) cannot afford a private school education for your kids. Were your kids getting a private school education under any of the previous administrations? Then don't wake up and expect them to get handed one now! You want your kids to go to private school??? Then CHOOSE for them to go, and while you're at it, CHOOSE to pay for it, too. Because you best believe WE aren't! Other than that, send your kids to public school and be glad you live in a country where you can."

Tell me what I wrote that was hateful.
Actually, my kids did go to private school During the Clinton and Bush years. We paid for it ourselves. And they got a wonderful, Catholic Education with kids from all walks of life. It was a sacrifice $$-wise but worth every penny. My oldest is studying Engineering at a top-flight College. We live in a modest home. I do not begrudge people who have wealth.
I'm saying the children of that city are STUCK in horribly run GOVERNMENT schools. Michell Rhee the school chancellor is reforming the schools. She has fired principals and teachers who were under-performing. Now if she can get the COOPERATION of the city council, and the TEACHERS UNION the children may actually have a chance of getting a decent education. PARENTS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE STUCK with sending their children to UNDER PERFORMING SCHOOLS WITH INCOMPETENT TEACHERS.
What is hateful is the total disregard I see in these comments for those less fortunate who are saddled with ROTTEN SCHOOLS. There should be more accountability, more competition between schools and the ability to fire teachers who shouldn't be teaching.

63. This is AMERICA --- Freedom of choice. President & Mrs. Obama have the same freedom of choice as the rest of us. Sorry you can't afford private school for your kids. Stop being envious!

64. Honestly, it is a parent's choice where their child attends school. Some parents aren't as financially free in this decision. For those of you who say things like "the Obama girls need to get a taste of the real world" and things like that, Barak is our president-elect, not his daughters. I am happy for you that you choose to raise your children that way, but I will continue to believe in the right to seek out the best possible education for our children. Why would you want to make the Obama girls go to a public school? Why do you have an opinion about their education at all? I say, if you have the means, don't neglect your child's education.

66. It has been mentioned that we should show respect to Barack Hussein Obama. Well, I certainly will, just as soon as he has some respect for people who are NOT rich and the elitists. When he does something GOOD for my country, not other countries, I will consider that a good thing. I will be waiting. So far, I am unable to see anything being changed, except his friends being given jobs that pay lots of money. That way he can cut the expenses of our country? Don't think so. When he hires all the people he wants to work for him, that will be the downfall of the economy situation. There has always been too much money spent (thrown away) in our government and I see no reason that he would change that.

74. Not every family who sends their children to private schools are rich. There are scholarships. My grandchildren attend a wonderful private school with students of diverse backgrounds. They have fund raising activities to insure that inner city children have the opportunity to attend.
