Congratulations to six-time Super Bowl winner (and seven-time nominee!) Pittsburgh Steelers. I had the good fortune of attending Super Bowl XL, when the Steelers last won. Media day was a blast:
Then I reported on game day. It seems like only yesterday that I was hanging with Stevie Wonder, then-top draft pick Matt Leinart, and soon-to-be disgraced Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick:
But then as now, I wondered: Why don't the Steelers have cheerleaders? Apparently there was a squad of Steelerettes from 1961-1970. What happened to them?
Now that the Steelers are the winningest team in football, don't they deserve to be cheered in an organized fashion? I ask you, what would Steelers cheerleaders look like?

50. The Steelers already have thousands of cheerleaders, they are called fans. The players will not be able to hear the cheerleaders cheer so why waste the money on them when you have loyal fans who cheer them on regardless. If you didn't notice at the Superbowl, there were alot of fans dressed up for the Steelers and cheering them on. No one needs cheerleaders. And for the comment about Steelers fans being homosexuals, sounds like you are just mad your team didn't win the Superbowl or even make it to it. Just because the Steelers are awesome doesn't mean you have to be a child and play the name calling game. Get over it. The Steelers are 6 time winners now. They are in the history books as usual. Become a Steelers fan and you wouldn't hate so much.

53. We just don't have them here, everyone seems fine with it. If you ask most yinzers, they say something along the lines of "we don't need them." or something about how the team is too good for cheerleaders. Steeler fans bleed black and gold, they HATE Steely McBeam (can you blame us? he looks like a molester) and we really wouldn't care for anything to divert our attention for the game.

57. We folks in the burgh just plain don't need cheerleaders. Fortunately the GAMES are more than interesting enough, and we don't need any other entertainment. If we want to see young ladies cheering the Steelers, there are lots and lots of them in the stands.
