"If selling fiction is good enough for our military then it's good enough for NASCAR" - The Colbert "Word" is less about NASCAR and more about Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman and the fact that the military lied about their stories.

The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform holds a hearing entitled "Misleading Information from the Battlefield." - Below is Jessica Lynch speaking to the Committee. You can watch Pat Tillman's brother Kevin speaking about this here.

It's been four years since Bush announced that "major combat operations in Iraq have ended", however everyday in the news we still hear of violence in Iraq. It is OK for you to wonder what the daily struggle must be like in Baghdad. For that reason a group of Iraqi's have set up a video blog that documents the daily struggles of young Iraqi's. Below are the two latest webisodes of "Hometown Baghdad". (The second is a little graphic, so finish your sandwich.)

If you find these interesting by all means visit their website and check out the 20 other episodes they have online.

Hometownbaghdad.com

An ongoing documentary web series following the lives of a few Iraqi 20-somethings trying to survive in Baghdad. The brave Iraqi subjects and crew risked their lives every time they turned on a camera to make this series. They want to show the world what life is like when your hometown is a war-zone.

"I would change the whole drug policy" - Mike Gravel

Mike Gravel a Democratic candidate for President says that he would legalize Marijuana. He makes that very clear at around the five minute mark of this CSPAN call in show. I understand the idea is a long shot, but at least one politician is putting it out there. Prisons are full of American Marijuana users and maybe also Canadians soon.
This clip is the second part of four from his May 1st appearance on CSPAN. The full program can be watched here.

On May 2nd Mike appeared on the Colbert Report... looking for a bump.

Consider me the "Young Buck" of the AOL Newsbloggers. I am a 25 year old working class Canadian and like John Candy and Mike Myers before me I have been wooed into entertaining the American public and thanks to the Internet I don't have to move to LA, I can blog from my apartment here in beautiful Victoria BC.

My goal is to locate the video clips of news that is stirring up the social web. I have a very true passion when it comes to finding interesting clips. I usually provide a small amount of social commentary and I always make an effort to provide related information like links to wikipedia. That is the beauty of the Internet.

In the past I have been featured in the Wall Street Journal thanks my success in social media. That success translated into a job with Netscape.com. The media is evolving and I am personally fascinated by it so keep an eye on me here at Newsbloggers and/or check out my personal blog at throwawayyourtv.com for my latest mind blowing developments.

I have been asked to share this video introduction. I may lack the wit of a Mo Rocca and the looks of a Young Turk but this video is the result of 100% Canadian courage (8 cheap beers) and 20 takes.

(UPDATE: My personal blog on the News Blogger site will be up later today.)
