Here's a good reason to watch TDS next week, corespondent Rob Riggle will be reporting from Iraq. Riggle is a former Marine who has been with The Daily Show since 2006. Learn more about Riggle by reading this interview with Radar Magazine in 2006, and in Riggle's honour, I've attached a classic TDS segment of Riggle reporting on the Anna Nicole Smith death.

Riggle will provide what the network calls "in-depth coverage and insights from the front lines." Scheduled to be back in New York this weekend, he begins his reports as soon as Monday. ("The Daily Show" airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. EDT.)

Many people who use the internet for news and information can sympathize with Michael Moore's anger towards the mainstream media. The last 10 years it seems television news is more and more difficult to watch, and honest voices believe it's hurting America.

As an outsider looking in, it's bizarre watching American news, it's easy to understand why people are starting to believe it's purposely trying to dumb down viewers. Remember the round the clock footage of the Anna Nicole Smith death, even The Daily Show spent 9 minutes covering it... The best 9 minutes of coverage on the topic, says I. You can understand why people out there agree, the Main Stream Media wasn't doing it's job during the lead up to this war (with exception to Knight Ridder) and they still aren't.

Here is an open letter Moore wrote to CNN on July 14th. He is angry with the state of the media, he is not alone, blogyoulikeahurricane.com has written an open to Michael Moore asking him to create a documentary about mainstream media.

Why not? Larry Birkhead and Howard K. Stern embraced outside the courthouse after Birkhead was declared the winner in the Dannielynn sweepstakes. (I hope that like most lottery winners, he doesn't succomb to depression. It can be a big letdown. He should definitely keep his day job, just for the stability.) But why can't they raise her together?

The embrace was a sweet moment ... reminiscent of a very special TV show. Do I smell sitcom?

Was there ever any real doubt that Larry Birkhead was the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby Dannielynn?

Maybe to Howard K. Stern or Zsa Zsa Gabor's loony husband, Prince Frederick von Anhalt. Now the pretenders will scatter. About a month ago, Von Anhalt sued Bill O'Reilly for calling him a fraud. Yesterday, less than a day before the announcement of the father's identity, Stern hired L. Lin Wood, who has previously represented Richard Jewell, John and Patsy Ramsey, and Gary Condit, among others. So what will become of them? Is the baby in good hands with Birkhead? And what will happen to all those entrepreneurs who rushed out "I'M THE FATHER OF ANNA NICOLE SMITH'S BABY" t-shirts?
