Anderson Cooper's Geek Week

Anderson Cooper has had some birthday week. On primary night, there was the now-famous punch-drunk exchange on CNN (above): Donna Brazile said, "Anderson, I'm not your boo." To which he responded, "I want to be your boo!" Everyone busted out laughing, prompting him to confess to not knowing what the word meant.

Then last night, there was another awkward moment (video here). Erica Hill played a clip of him calling the Wii (pronounced "whee") a "why-ee," and then gave him one. He half-heartedly stepped up and down on the workout pad, seeming mortified. But cut the guy some slack; he's probably still suffering PTSD from his 2004 birthday, in which he was attacked by clowns. Happy birthday, Anderson!

"Who Made Huckabee" - 2008 Comedy Gold

Conan O'Brian, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart have all been losing viewers according to the News York Times. Although I haven't noticed any dip in the Daily Show's performance. The Colbert Report hasn't been the same, Stephen is pro at Improv but probably helps to have his jokes written, but I love the guy and still watch him every night. Once this strike is over I am confident they will be back to pre-strike levels. If anything good came out of the strike it was this clip below from the Conan O'Brian show /w guests Stewart and Colbert.

Collection of Mittens

Good Morning, nothing but chuckles here folks, David Letterman (bless his heart) has been having lots of fun making fun of Mitt Romney, I've brewed up a collection of Romney jokes from Late Night, including the Romney Cliché Count and Mitt Romney Straight Talk.

Do Enjoy, I also included a video of Mitt Romney asking a bunch of African-American "Who let the dogs out?"
We already know Mitt did not let his dog out, and it crapped on the roof of his car. I can't get enough of this guy, he's hilarious.

Colbert and Conan fight over Huckabee

It's been a long week here on NB, lets all just sit back and enjoy the comedy stylings of two of my favourite American cultural icons. This is an interesting series of events. Both Conan and Colbert are claiming responsibility for Mike Huckabee's success. Here are the clips that illustrate the faux drama.

If you have never watched the Conan/Walker Texas Ranger clips, I highly recommend them. Below is about seven minutes worth, really gives you an idea for just how silly Chuck Norris is.

Next video in this online journey is Mike Huckabee's recent interview with Stephen Colbert. I believe this clip will also include Colbert's remarks towards Conan. I am not sure simply because I actually can't watch the clip, when I click play it tells me "Fuck you Canada." Well, Not literally, but thats what it feels like, Comedy Central/Viacom has some sort of software installed in their embeds that can determine the nationality of web surfers, hence blocking us from watching clips online. So please let me know if this is the right clip. Cheers

The Onion loves to make fun of Mitt Romney, this is the same Onion that earlier revealed Mitt Romney was the candidate voters would most like to get into a bar fight with.

Jon Stewart brings in old friend of the show John Bolton, you know this was going to be a great interview, especially if you remember the last time Bolton was on the show (March 2007,) Although Bolton made Stewart look like a fool, our favourite News man enjoyed the final laugh. Anyway, last nights interview was informative, lots of questions asked about the current American foreign policy et all...

Jon Stewart: A Beautiful Breath of Fresh Air

Oh man!

Am I ever happy that Jon Stewart is back on the air, it has been an incredibly different world following the news the past couple months without Stewart doing The Daily Show, please understand how big of a fan of Jon Stewart I am, I was one of the few who actually went out and bought a Indecision 2004 DVD. I sincerely hope my American friends to the south can solve this labour dispute "A Daily Show" is nice but world still awaits the return of "The Daily Show." I doubt an election year without The Daily Show writers would be fair. Without further ado here is a snip of the satirical election news American has been missing out on the last two months, breath it in.

"30 Rock" Now Officialy the Number Two Sitcom of All Time

And by official, I mean, that's what I've decided. It's hard to unseat Seinfeld because it was so funny, so true for so long. You don't take the king down so easily. But outside of Seinfeld, I am now putting 30 Rock as the best sitcom I have ever seen.

Unfortunately, I don't get to watch as much television as I used to because I am so damn busy (writing blogs like this, I guess; woe is me). But I love television and have loved a lot of sitcoms in my time. So, this is no small thing. 30 Rock is that good.

I only get to watch a couple of hours of TV a week and sometimes I'll watch the same 30 Rock twice. It's that good. In the last episode, I laughed out loud for about five minutes until I started having chest pains.

It goes beyond saying that I totally have a crush on Tina Fey now (and I did her an injustice the other day even comparing her sex appeal to Paula Abdul, you can watch that injustice here). And Alec Baldwin is our finest actor, Really, he is. No one does comedy and drama like Alec Baldwin. I honestly believe he is the most underrated actor in the country (and hence the world, I don't think some Bollywood dude is going to overtake him).

That's it, I'm officially putting Alec Baldwin above John Malkovich as the #1 ranked actor. Malkovich has to act more than once a decade to reclaim the title.

If you're not watching 30 Rock, you're not spending your time right. Straighten your life out, get your priorities straight and get yourself a piece of the Rock!

Call it a coalition candidacy. Five committed but largely unheralded candidates have joined forces to fight on behalf of the little guy - and against the evil of big party politics. Look out Democrats and Republicans. You may have met your match.

Before Hugh Laurie become Dr. House he did some television work in the UK, here is a scene from the show A Bit of Fry and Laurie which aired in the early 90's. The sketch is titled "It's a Soaraway life" a parody of "It's a wonderful life." Hat Tip to spoco2 for sifting this comedic gem.

Missing Jon Stewart

How long is this writers strike going to continue? It's been weeks now and I am starved for some Jon Stewart and the Daily Show. If you frequent my blog, you are probably also starved. The good news is if you are American you can visit The Daily Shows website, although if you do visit that website, you are crossing the writers picket line. It's interesting how just days before the strike began Viacom was able to put every singe Daily Show clip online, smothered with advertising of course. Either way I already boycotted the website because Canadians only get to watch the advertisements, the actual clips have been blocked for people outside the USA.

Anyway...So we miss Jon Stewart, but the beauty of the Internet is that we can re-live magical moments at the click of a button, and in this post we will re-live classic Jon Stewart Moments.

The first clip is a Standup appearance from Jon Stewart back in 1996 in Miami, part of his HBO special titled "Unleavened." In this clip he touches on middle east conflicts and the simplicity of invading Canada. Enjoy.

Voice of London's Subway Shows Sense of Humor, Is Shown the Door

The woman known as the voice of London's Tube was fired after posting lightly disparaging messages about foreign tourists on her own website. The woman, Emma Clarke, a professional voice artist, has been the voice of the city's subway system for eight years; she's the one who says "mind the gap." On her website, though, she posted a number of other gag announcement in her professional Tube voice, including one that accused Americans of speaking too loudly and another tweaking passengers who pretend to read the newspaper while staring at women's breasts.

A spokesman from the Underground said that the organization found the jokes funny, but could not abide another comment on the site in which Clarke said she no longer rides the Tube because it is "dreadful." "Emma is a bit silly to go round slagging off her client's services," he said
