You all know I'm following this story.
Cleveland Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich caused a stink on the House of Representatives floor this morning during a speech where he announced he'll introduce articles of impeachment against President Bush on Monday, Jan. 28, the day Bush delivers his State of the Union speech.

Kucinich: Balls of Steel

Out of all the American Presidential candidates my favourite is Dennis Kucinich. This news piece in the El Paso Times, just sold me. After reading it the first thing I thought of was "This guy has got balls" - A youtube search later and I now have a video to present with the article.
AUSTIN-Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, along with supporter Willie Nelson, have filed a lawsuit to get Kucinich on the ballot in Texas after they say the Texas Democratic Party rejected his application.

The civil lawsuit was delivered late Wednesday afternoon to U.S. District Court for the Western District of the United States, Kucinich spokesman Andy Juniewicz said late Wednesday evening.

The lawsuit says that Kucinich was informed by the Texas Democratic Party on Wednesday that his application was "defective" because he crossed out a loyalty oath in the application that said he would swear to support whoever the Democratic nominee for president might be.

Don't worry mainstream media won't let this guy become a player, he's too into that "peace" idea. Remember when Murdoch bought the Wall Street Journal?

Dennis Kucinich Owns 'Hot.com'?!

This weekend we were checking our Hotmail account and accidentally hit enter before we were done typing the address. We were taken to hot.com instead. And there we saw not porn as we expected but . . . DENNIS KUCINICH.

Try it and see. You'll get a long video of the decidedly not-hot Kucinich -- seated in front of two flags and a photo of his (actually quite hot) vegan wife -- bragging about how he's the only candidate who voted against the Iraq war. We just checked to see if anyone else had noticed and apparently Wired found it via the same Hotmail error we made. We're left with three questions:

Kucinich opposes "Thought Crime Bill"

Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich was one of just six representatives to vote against H.R.1955, which carries the heavy title "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007."

Dennis recently answered questions regarding his vote, and you can read all about it on indypendent.org.
"If you understand what his bill does, it really sets the stage for further criminalization of protest," Kucinich said. "This is the way our democracy little, by little, by little, is being stripped away from us. This bill, I believe, is a clear violation of the first amendment."

Kucinich referred to the bill as the "thought crime bill," when he explained in a joking fashion that, "We have freedom of speech. Thoughts, sometimes, proceed speech. There is usually a unity in thought, word and deed."

The bill would create a National Commission, who would be charged with the task making legislative recommendations on how to prevent, disrupt and mitigate violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism. Many activists, scholars and civil liberties experts are worried that in order to prevent an act of "homegrown terrorism," people who have radical or "extreme belief systems" would have to be monitored before a criminal act might occur. This, they surmise, would amount to unlawful surveillance of individuals who are critical to the Bush administration and those who hold power in the current economic and political system...Read More...

Kucinich Demands Impeachment During the Debate

Good for Kucinich trying to keep up the momentum with his impeachment idea. Do note, the there is a healthy applause at the end, for the record the woman they zoom in on at the end standing and clapping is the mother of a soldier who has done three tours of Iraq. Wolf does his best to cut him off, I remember he wasn't as successful cutting off Obama or Hilary as they bantered back and forth about whose health care plan is better. Kucinich was given under 6 minutes to speak throughout the debate, I hope more Americans can find their inner Kucinich courage, me and the world is waiting.

Here is an article about the impeachment for your pondering.

The Courage Of Kucinich In Pelosi's House Of Wacks - CommonDreams.org
Then there is Dennis Kucinich - the diminutive giant in the House of Representatives. The American Congressman from the 10th District of Ohio who refuses to be silenced. The Democratic candidate for President who passionately upholds his oath to protect the people and Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies both foreign and domestic. Not as an oral exercise when sworn into office - but as a moral exercise every day in office.

For Dennis Kucinich, nothing and no one will suppress his allegiance to his country and to his abiding principle of "strength through peace."

So when Speaker Pelosi tells the cowards in her House that "impeachment is off the table" because the fight to impeach is too hard, Kucinich doesn't believe her. No one ever told him being a Congressman would be easy. No one ever told him maintaining democracy was a cinch. When the President and Vice President commit acts as egregious as lying the nation into illegal war, illegally surveilling their own citizens, endorsing and allowing torture, and more, the strong don't stay quiet...Read More on Commondreams.org...

Are You Secretly In Love With Dennis Kucinich?

Smart Salon columnist Rebecca Traister has a hilarious article up right now geared toward progressives/liberals called "Stop Lying To Yourself. You Love Dennis Kucinich."

She writes: In an effort to distance yourself from the squish of the Birkenstock and the stench of the patchouli, you have convinced yourself that compromise and pragmatism light the path to the White House. And you are correct. But still, before walking listlessly down the aisle toward our impending union with tepid centrism, let's rip our clothes off for one final, ill-advised fling with ideological honesty:

Dennis Kucinich is our man! If he can't do it, well, that's because we're all chickenshit and condemned to a future of our own making. Yay, Dennis!

We'd been wondering how the rather mismatched Kucinichs became a couple, and along comes The Knot. They've posted the Kucinichs' wedding story here. (As you may have noticed, Mrs. Kucinich is smokin', while Mr. Kucinich, more than thirty years her senior, looks like an Oompa Loompa.) Some excerpts from their wedding story:

The CNN/YouTube Debate: What Revolution?

How could I not hope that CNN's Democratic debate tonight would fail? The foundering all-news network spent weeks touting their joint venture with YouTube as "first ever," "revolutionary" and "never been tried before" - an "experiment" on par with democracy itself!

The debate itself was treated as a news story - and not just any news story. The TOP news story of the day. The clock in the lower right corner of the screen (counting the hours and minutes till showtime!) is now a staple of awards show programming, of course. (Mind you, had CNN asked me to do red carpet coverage I would have been there in a heartbeat. "Candy Crowley, who are you wearing?!")

Why questions from ordinary Americans is so "groundbreaking" is beyond me: Politicians have participated in call-in shows like "Larry King Live" for years. They've attended town hall meetings. I even have a videotape of Hubert Humphrey addressing the tough questions of Minnesota dairy farmers from the 1960s. The only difference here is CNN had to roll in footage of the questioners instead of simply cutting to a questioner in the audience. Oh, that newfangled technology! Those crazy computers!

The whole thing smacked of a stodgy and creaky ratings-challenged network desperately trying to talk to the "young people." Reminiscent of the New York Times' much-mocked "grunge glossary" in 1992.

Lady MacEdwards to Hillary: "Out, damned Kucinich! Out, I say!"

I refer, of course, to John Edwards and the stunning picture of him whispering in Hillary Clinton's ear after an NAACP forum in Detroit on Thursday. The exchange, picked up by a Fox News microphone (natch), records the two complaining about the inclusion of less "serious" candidates in the debates. (Listen to it here.)

Images like this arguably mean more at this point in the race than later: right now the party faithful and big donors are deciding whom to back. They're watching closely and assessing who can win - who seems like a president.

On that score, this pic has a winner and a loser.

The winner, of course, is Mrs. Clinton. The two happen to be standing but the way the picture is cropped, it looks like she could be sitting. And the King always sits. She looks like a Commander-in-Chief. A serious demeanor, a handsome profile. Tough.

John Edwards, on the other hand, looks at best like ... an adviser. (Remember Chief of Staff Andy Card whispering word of the 9/11 attacks to Bush?) Edwards as adviser is the best spin you can put on this image. He really looks like more of a ... lackey. (Remember Tony Blair, doing his best Mr. Belvedere, at the service of a boorish President Bush, stuffing his face with food during the G-8 summit?)

Yet lackey still doesn't capture it. No. He looks like a conniving spouse. Like Lady MacBeth.
