"Turns out that the Discovery Channel isn't so interested in discovery"

I just learnt that the Academy Award nominated documentary Taxi to the Dark Side had it's rights bought by the Discovery Channel. They told the filmmaker they liked the documentary and wanted to present it to the broad audience on television. Well, the suits at the Discovery Channel changed their minds, saying it's "too controversial", now they own the rights and the film can't be aired for three years.

Here is the films trailer.

The sad man that is Mitt Romney, just got sadder by saying a vote for a democrat would be surrendering to terrorists. Alternet has video Mitt saying so.

I have a feeling fear will play a big role in the upcoming American election.

"Who Made Huckabee" - 2008 Comedy Gold

Conan O'Brian, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart have all been losing viewers according to the News York Times. Although I haven't noticed any dip in the Daily Show's performance. The Colbert Report hasn't been the same, Stephen is pro at Improv but probably helps to have his jokes written, but I love the guy and still watch him every night. Once this strike is over I am confident they will be back to pre-strike levels. If anything good came out of the strike it was this clip below from the Conan O'Brian show /w guests Stewart and Colbert.

ABC Nightline: Jan 15th

It's pretty rare that we see Bush speaking to the press, after all he is a busy man, fortunately during his trip to Saudi Arabia he found time to speak to ABC's Terry Moran, if you missed the segment on your Television you can watch about 10 minutes worth of video on the Nightline website. If you are short for time, Last night Jon Stewart offered his analysis of the trip, you can watch it in the clip below. Enjoy.

Liberal Fascism

Filed under: Bizarre, The Daily Show

When I first heard the term I thought it was an oxymoron, turns out Jon Stewart feels the same way. An interesting series of events led me to to posting this video. First, a respected Newsblogger reader informed of the term and it's author Jonah Goldberg a couple days ago, I googled, but didn't bother looking deeply into it, Jonah simply sounded like a nut and I couldn't really commit to learning about him. Next thing I know our favourite commentator Robert O'Kane wrote that "me and my liberal fascist friends have blood on our hands!" Before I could get back on my chair he wrote a second comment that included the phrase "liberal fascist" more then once, sounds like the think tanks are pushing a new slogan. Suddenly I am more interested in "liberal Fascists" since I'm accused of being one.

Luckily Jon Stewart and I are tight and he invited Jonah Goldberg on the show, the interview was 18 minutes long so it was heavily edited to fit into the 22 minute program. So for anybody who was as confused as I was, here is your explanation for "Liberal Fascism."

*Edit Added: Good eye Todd, Jonah is the son of Lucianne Goldberg, someone with a lot of Political Scandal history.

Jon Stewart Interviews John Bolton

Jon Stewart brings in old friend of the show John Bolton, you know this was going to be a great interview, especially if you remember the last time Bolton was on the show (March 2007,) Although Bolton made Stewart look like a fool, our favourite News man enjoyed the final laugh. Anyway, last nights interview was informative, lots of questions asked about the current American foreign policy et all...

Nuclear Pakistan and Evolution

Fareed Zakaria returned to The (A) Daily Show last night to help Jon understand the importance of what is happening in Pakistan, interesting to know Musharraf only hold about 25% popularity right now, amongst other things Fareed reveals. You will learn Fareed was in Pakistan and left just before the bombing, he wrote a column for the January 21st edition of the Newsweek magazine, it's already online and you can read it here.

You can learn more about Fareed at Newsweek.com, and again be sure to read his latest column. If you enjoyed the Fareed interview, you might consider burning some time watching this collection of Stewart/Fareed interviews dating back to 2001.

And packed into this post is a Stephen Colbert interview with Evolutionary Biologist Neil Shubin who explains how the human body has evolved, incredibly fascinating stuff. I trust the mans claims, because he's a scientist, but if you want to read his book, you can order it here.

Bush is still afraid of Iran

So even after the intelligence said that Iran halted it's Nuke program in 2003, Iran is still a threat? How now? Oh, Terrorism, of course. Olbermann just recently had a rant about Bush and his Iran warmongering?

Bush's comments come appropriately while he is on a key middle eastern tour to promote "peace."

I've never used the "Islamic Radicals" category yet on AOL, and I think Iranians driving speedboats around American battleships surely fits that definition. I am sure these Iranians won some sort of bet once they returned to shore.

Stewart interviews John Zogby - Yes, the polling guy

Yes, I stay up late to watch The Daily Show, so you can get the fresh clips first thing in the morning. Here is a disbelieving interview between Jon Stewart and John Zogby, the person everybody wants answers from after the prediction disaster that was, the New Hampshire Primary. I mean, we already knew polls were malarky.

This is Zogby?

Also, check out the TDS website news section, currently it's linking my Daily Show post I typed out yesterday, be quick though, eventually I am sure they will realize I'm just a no-name blogger and remove me from the front page. I took a screenshot for the memory.

Jon Stewart: A Beautiful Breath of Fresh Air

Oh man!

Am I ever happy that Jon Stewart is back on the air, it has been an incredibly different world following the news the past couple months without Stewart doing The Daily Show, please understand how big of a fan of Jon Stewart I am, I was one of the few who actually went out and bought a Indecision 2004 DVD. I sincerely hope my American friends to the south can solve this labour dispute "A Daily Show" is nice but world still awaits the return of "The Daily Show." I doubt an election year without The Daily Show writers would be fair. Without further ado here is a snip of the satirical election news American has been missing out on the last two months, breath it in.

Bearded David Letterman: Fresh Top Ten

Filed under: Celebrity, Video, The Daily Show

It's interesting to note that a very important election process has begun and American is without it's cultural icons, or they have been successfully replaced already. Thankfully many of the most important shows are creeping back onto the air, even as the strike continues, this includes our favourite, the the Daily Show.

January 3rd - CTV reports.
Letterman was able to return to air with his regular writing staff after his production company, Worldwide Pants, reached an agreement last Friday with the Writers Guild of America.

Letterman was also able to welcome guest Robin Williams, who is a member of the Screen Actors Guild -- Hollywood's major actors' union. SAG has said its membership is permitted to appear on the Letterman show as well as Craig Ferguson's "Late Late Show'', which is also owned by Worldwide Pants.

Letterman's Top 10 list was a list of the writers' strike demands. It included such items as "Complimentary tote bag with next insulting contract offer" and "Hazard pay for breaking up fights on `The View.'"...read on....
Support these writers.

David Letterman's Top Ten List was read by the writers who are on strike, including the writers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
