Immigration Rally
Immigration Rally
LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 01: Mothers with babies in strollers join the march to City Hall in one of several May Day marches and rallies in southern California and in at least 75 cities nationwide to press for immigrant and labor rights on May 1, 2007 in Los Angeles, California. The protest is expected to be smaller than the May 1, 2006 march that drew more than 650,000 protesters, the largest turnout in Los Angeles history when large numbers of illegal immigrants carrying the flags of both the US and their countries of origin sparked an anti-immigrant rights backlash among conservatives. Some of the anger that motivated protesters in 2006 was reportedly lessened as Congress failed to pass legislation that would have criminalized illegal immigrants and toughened US-Mexico border enforcement.
