The Smart Way to Fight Iran -- The Barbie Way

There is a new story about how the Iranian government is pissed they can't control the Barbie dolls flooding into Iran. As I explain below, the Iranians are right to be concerned. Once you introduce American culture to a population, it is infectious. They can't get it out of their system. It is our best weapon:

Obama Should Claim to be More Patriotic Than McCain

Today on the show we were talking about how Fox News was questioning Barack Obama's patriotism and how I thought he didn't do a great job of debunking stories that go the heart of this charge. The problem is that by answering the question he feeds into the question. He should turn the whole premise of the question on its head.

Obama shouldn't talk about whether he is or is not patriotic. He should talk about how he is clearly the most patriotic candidate in the race:

Would You Hit Someone with a Machete If They Broke Into Your House?

Yesterday on the show (actually in our more uninhibited post-game show) we were talking about how Sean Taylor, the Redskins player who was killed by a robber last week, had a machete by his bed in case intruders broke in.

I was on the side of not having a machete. And if you do have it, of not swinging it without asking questions. Wes Clark, Jr. (he is General Clark's son, he is a former first lieutenant in the Army and co-hosts with me on Wednesdays) and Jayar (our producer) were on the opposite side. They said swing first, ask questions later.

Check out our debate here (warning: significant profanity):

Radio Host Says Colbert Stole Joke

Posted Sep 19th 2007 3:36PM by Cenk Uygur

The radio host who is suing Stephen Colbert for a stolen joke is ... me. He stole a "Klingon joke" I used on our September 7th show and recycled it on "The Colbert Report" on September 11th. The evidence is below and is indisputable. I expect significant compensatory and punitive damages. In fact, I am suing for $65 million.

You can see the stolen joke in this video (warning, profanity in the video):

And this press release explains all the sordid details of Stephen Colbert's thievery:

My Awkward Meeting with Larry King

The reason everyone in political circles knows Ben's dad, Frank Mankiewicz, is because he was the press secretary for Bobby Kennedy and the campaign director for George McGovern. He also ran NPR and was the head of the Peace Corps in Latin America. And the coolest fact about Frank (other than the fact that he fought the Nazis): He was on Nixon's enemies list.

He is a Washington institution. He is the only name I have to drop, so I do it with reckless abandon.
