Ten minutes worth of footage from MSNBC's State of the Union footage. Barack Obama shares his opinions about the Bush Administration, talks about his ideas and also touches on the Kennedy endorsement. For the Fox News fans of the blog (bless your lost soul,) Barack spoke to them too (although Chuck Norris might interest you more.)
Nice little blog here about Keith Olbermann from thinkprogress.org. Included is a clip of Keith Olbermann speaking on CNN to Howard Kurtz about his success during the Bush Presidency and why he makes fun of Bill O'Reilly so much.
Olbermann has a segment during his program where he lists off random Bush scandals that Americans have already forgotten about. Below are 20 clips of that particular segment, do the math, 60 Scandals below. Rate them in order of importance with your friends here on Newsbloggers.
Over the past few years on the Internet I have witnessed the worst from this media giant and I have prayed to Jesus hoping that the average American television consumer would one day turn off this channel. Over the past few years unfolding in our living rooms has been a Newsman slow descent towards insanity. Bill O'Reilly is still the highest rated "Journalist" (yes, he calls himself a journalist) he is on the highest rated "News" network (yes, Fox News is still considered a news network) and on a daily basis he makes a mockery of Journalism, yet so many people believe in what he says. I am baffled.
Bill has spent some time recently attacking John Edwards, a Democrat fighting for the poor, Bill makes Millions of dollars, he is happy with the status quo. John Edwards recently brought up the statistic that merely points out the fact that 200,000 American army veterans are homeless. While commenting on this fact Bill O'Reilly created some new enemies. Veterans.
I remember a long time ago Bill O'Reilly said that if you 'don't supoort the troops, you should shut up.' Let's hope he soon takes his own advice. But, let's not hold our breath, O'Reilly is going to be around for the duration of this campaign, wait until he learns Barack's middle name is Hussein, oh boy. If you really have to watch news at 8pm, The alternative is Keith Olbermann. From my point of view he is entertaining, he is honest and he treats his audience and guests with respect, all important broadcast journalism traits.
*Update: Ok... I am receiving a lot of hate mail because of this posting, so I changed the title. It's good to know there are so many people out there who dislike me as passionately as I dislike Bill O'Reilly, nothing wrong with that, I assure you I am harmless, please center your rage towards something more productive...Like the homeless veterans problem. Also, I understand Keith Olbermann is the "the leftist" version of Bill O'Reilly, but if you at least watch the Olbermann segment I have included in this post, the amazing fact is revealed that only 2.6 Billion dollars is needed to solve the homeless vet problem, consider America's Iraq budget, 2.6 Billion is nothing. This is enough to provide housing for every homeless vet for a full year, that is plenty of time to help them get their life back on track. ====== - Hoard's Mind Blowing Propeller Submissions
For the record, I do not condone this video mix. Our director, Jesus Godoy, puts it together. Although, I respect him as the legendary, trailblazing internet TV director that he is, I believe it is his intention to damage to my reputation, week after week. I'm considering suing him.
I am not referring to all of the yelling and screaming I do in this video. I stand firmly behind that. I am referring to words he takes out of context toward the end of the video. As Larry Craig brilliantly put it, "I am not gay, nor have I ever been gay."
Let me quote Senator Craig one more time, "Again, I am not gay."
Here is something I consider a positive sign of change: Bill O'Reilly has been boasting for years that he is better than Keith Olbermann simply by pointing to his ratings, but for the first time on Friday September the 7th, Keith Olbermann ("the truth teller") defeated Bill O'Reilly ("the falafel guy.")
Phil Griffin knew it would happen, he just didn't think it would happen this quickly. On Friday night, MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann was the top-rated cable news show in the 25-54 demo. That means Olbermann beat his cable rival, FNC's The O'Reilly Factor and its host Bill O'Reilly. That's a first...More
Here is one segment from Olbermann's ratings winning evening.
The Olbermann/O'Reilly rivalry has been ongoing; here is a collection of clips that illustrate this media pie fight.
Here is Keith Olbermann's Special Comment from September 4th 2007. I ask: If all the media outlets are "liberal" why don't they all sound like this? To quote Crooksandliars.com:
Keith Olbermann's Special Comment tonight is without a doubt, one of his hardest hitting and most emotional to date. Keith absolutely lays waste to President Bush's lies and rhetoric about the surge. He contrasts his callous disregard for the truth and the troops between his six hour photo op in Iraq and the interview with Draper released this weekend.
Yeah, yeah, yeah - more Larry Craig, but this guy is fun. I saw this video where he called Bill Clinton a "bad boy, a naughty boy" - just watch, it's pretty amusing.
- Voted YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage. - Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation. - Voted NO on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation. - Voted NO on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes. - Voted YES on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
Yep, another lie by Bill O'Reilly. We can assume he won't apologize, and we know his boss will do nothing to stop the lies. Millions of people will continue to watch him and listen to every word he says and the downward spiral of the American news media continues.
What serious news channel reports and quotes random internet diary postings? That quote was from a February diary posting by "dhonig" on the Dailykos.com where the dhonig was actually calling out bad comments on the website, not making them.
Now it is important to note that I post under my own name, not a pseudonym. I think it is probably also worth noting that I am a litigator, and licensed to practice law in three states and many federal jurisdictions, including Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Not only is the O'Reilly broadcast defamatory, but I actually have the skills and wherewithal to do something about it.
I personally visit Wikipedia everyday, and I link to it in almost all my blog posts. I have said many times not to take Wikipedia as the gospel, but to use it as a tool for information. Each Wikipedia page will usually cite sources and provide links to the most relevant information about the subject you are researching.
Wikipedia's biggest strength (and biggest flaw) is that anybody can anonymously edit any entry. Recently a new tool was developed where any edit can be traced. And my oh my has the social web been buzzing as major corporations and governments have been outed for "editing" their wiki pages.
Keith spoke with the senior editor of Wired Magazine about the news. He echoes my thoughts by saying this controversy does nothing more then show the strength of Wikipedia. The Wiki community does a heckuva job catching these edits as soon as they happen and with the release of this new tool corporations and governments will be a little bit more hesitant when editing the website.
*Edited in. For those who believe it's worthless fighting Fox News. Just this week The O'Reilly Factor has apparently lost two major advertisers thanks to Fox Attackers: Home Depot and Lowes.
Keith Olbermann comments on President Bush's historic disapproval ratings in the video below. Olbermann speaks with Bruce Fein who argues for impeachment. Earlier in the month Fein sat down with Bill Moyers and talked more in depth about this topic.
Every day we hear in the media new reasonsWHY Bush should be impeached but we barely see any action. A massive list of reasons for impeachment can be found on this wikipedia page titled: Movement to Impeach George W Bush. And here is a list of the top ten reasons. With a list that long and scary, I really hope Americans can show the world that this person no longer represents the American people.
In the meantime I am curious, what makes George W Bush unpopular? I could only fit 20 reasons into this poll, choose as many as you like.
Here is a Mashup created by Talkingpointsmemo.com titled "Lying Liar Edition" featuring Alberto Gonzalez and his recent testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was back in a familiar place Tuesday, on Capitol Hill testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the US Attorney firings. Past Gonzales hearings have been ugly, but none have compared with the ugliness of the latest round
We have witnessed some pretty intense debates here on NB regarding the American Health Care system. Although I understand most polls are bs, I found this one presented by GallupTV pretty interesting - specifically these numbers:
"Has there been a time in the past year when you could not afford medical care" (to paraphrase) USA - 32% said Yes France - %12 said Yes Canada - 8% said Yes Food for thought. Watch that Gallup Video here.
For an alternative point of view on "Federalization" of Health Care look no further from this George Bush speech from July 10th in front of a very supportive "town hall" audience.
Keith Olbermann provides a special comment regarding recent Scooter Libby developments.
Very rare that you hear such an honestly angry voice within the mainstream media. Olbermann is not happy with the direction that his country has gone in while under the Bush Administration (hear, hear) and he is not afraid to voice it. Just listen to this small segment from one of his latest Independence Day eve rant.
Olbermann is asking Bush and Cheney to resign. You can watch the full rant here. He kinda reminds of this fellow, from the 1976 film "Network."
