Michael Savage Picks on Autistic Kids

Of all the dumb and hateful things Michael Savage has ever said, it turns out the one that has gotten him in the most trouble is the one he made about autistic kids the other day. That's because he was, as usual, totally ignorant and mean-spirited in attacking people's children. Listen to it here:

As a result of this outburst, some stations, including a station group in Mississippi, have dropped his show. Some advertisers, including AFLAC, have pulled ads from his program. So, now Michael "Weiner" Savage is in full backpedal mode. All of a sudden he's not such a tough guy. And, of course, he blames Media Matters for quoting him. How dare they run audio of his radio show, don't they know he's crazy and you can't listen to a word he says?

Brave New Films Takes Down Michael Savage

They're not done with him yet, but Brave New Films has gotten several important advertisers to pull out of the Michael Savage show. And they did it by simply playing Savage's own quotes back to the advertisers.

In the video below, we play you one of Savage's insane rants and then explain how Brave New Films got advertisers to back out of the show.

In the interest of full disclosure, The Young Turks and Brave New Films have a new partnership where we work on live coverage of important political events, like the South Carolina primary (check it out on our website on Saturday night when the results come in) and the State of the Union (on Monday night). But I would have enjoyed this comeuppance for Savage under any circumstance.

As always, it's been a busy week, with Iran's non-existent nukes, Cheney taunting the Democrats about how big their members are and Michael Savage's sexual proclivities. But luckily, we can boil it all down to about four minutes for you:

Savage: Democrats Might Have Poisoned a Supreme Court Justice

What more can you say? How does anyone take this guy seriously? Well, I guess they don't. There is some chance that Savage is actually unbalanced, that he is in fact mentally disturbed.

Remember this unbelievable rant? Listen to him scream, "That's how I see it!!!" These guys are downright spooky. Now, a polonium sandwich. I literally cannot imagine what they are going to come up with next.

Sever Your Finger or Listen to Michael "Savage?" You Make The Call

Here's today's question. What's healthier – listening to conservative talk radio or gently placing your hand in a high speed blender? It's close, but ultimately, that's why we have orthopedic surgeons.

I'm in Atlanta this week and dialed in two delightful programs, eager to bring insight and thoughtful analysis to the national debate – Neal Boortz, an Atlanta-based right winger, and Michael Savage, out of San Francisco with ideas out of the 17th century.

First, Boortz. It was Tuesday morning, the day after the horrible events at Virginia Tech. "I have a question here," says Boortz. "No answer .. just a question. Why didn't some of these students fight back? How in the hell do you line students up against a wall (if that's the way it played out) and start picking them off one by one without the students turning on you? You have a choice. Try to rush the killer and get his gun, or stand there and wait to be shot."

So less than 24 hours after 32 innocent people died 500 miles away, Neal Boortz has it all figured out. The students were lined up against the wall, too weak to fight back. Really? That's what happened?

Who cares what the police say? Why wait for actual information when there's an opportunity to say something profoundly ignorant, something that uncomfortably insults the victims of a numbing tragedy?
