Moberly School District

An elementary school in Moberly, Mo., has found a way help children who might be going hungry when they're not at school -- backpacks filled with food to get them through the weekend. Currently 106 children take home backpacks with food provided by the school and community.

Bill and Melinda Gates announce $290 million for schools

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is giving $290 million to three school districts and five charter groups, its largest education grant in a decade. The grant represents a shift in policy for the foundation, which will now focus on reforming teacher management and studying what makes teachers effective.

A gift of 2.2 million butterflies and moths, valued at over $41 million, was recently donated to the Florida Museum of Natural History.
