McCain Wants Senate to Apologize for Slavery
Senator and GOP candidate for president John McCain told The Examiner Wednesday that he supports a planned resolution by fellow GOP Senator Sam Brownback to apologize for slavery. Presumably, McCain was too busy helping Brownback draft the resolution to show up to the candidates' forum at historically black Morgan State University in September.
From the same article:
"They were federal policies," Brownback told the Boston Globe on Monday. "They were wrong. The only way for us to move forward . . . is at the end of the day acknowledging those, taking ownership for it, and asking for forgiveness."
Set aside for the moment the unfortunate word choice "taking ownership", just who is this legislation aimed at? Am I a bad guy for doubting the sincerity of this move? OK, maybe Brownback and McCain really, really wanted to pass this in 2006 but just didn't have the votes.
Well, whatever the case, what a wonderful opportunity. The Senate gets forgiveness, slavery can finally be acknowledged, and all of the members of the permanent underclass that slavery created get...to know that their senators can finally get a good night's sleep.

QUIT BEATING A DEAD HORSE......THIS HAPPENED MANY YEARS AGO....INSTEAD OF AN APOLOGY TO JUST THE BLACKS, MAKE IT A BLANKET APOLOGY FOR EVERYONE IN THE NATION..WE ARE ALL SO TIRED OF HEARING THIS....JUST GET THE NAMES OF EVERYONE THAT WAS IN OFFICE DURING THESE YEARS..GO TO THE GRAVEYARD DIG THEM UP AND SAY SHAME ON YOU. THEN WE SHOULD GO TO AFRICA AND DIG UP THE OLD TRIBAL CHIEFS AND DO THE SAME. I DID NOT DO THIS TO THE BLACKS, BUT ITS TIME TO CLOSE THE BOOKS AND GET A LIFE

AND SENATOR MCCAIN, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAME OF YOURSELF...TRYING TO USE THE BLACK TO GET A VOTE...ITS NOT THE BLACK ISSUE...ITS YOU THAT I CANNOT STAND... YOU ARE TWO FACED AND MAKES ME SICK TO LOOK AT YOU AND HEAR YOU SPEAK....HOW ABOUT "BOMB IRAN" TO THE BEACH BOYS SONG. HOW MANY YOUNG CHILDREN OF IRAN DO YOU WANT TO KILL AND PUT INTO SLAVERY WITH US AS THE OCCUPIER(JUST FOR OIL) SAKE. I BELIEVE THAT YOU SLAPPED THE BLACKS IN THE FACE, BECAUSE THEY ALL KNOW THAT YOU ARE DOING THIS JUST FOR THE "VOTE"....

Senator McCain and Senator Brownback might think about a resolution to apologize to the American Indian Nations. Thank You

What a joke. Sam Brownback has an attack of conscience? He might want to apologize for some of the vicious things he has said about gay Americans. Thankfully he dropped out of the presidential race. We don't need a totalitarian for president.

Well, whatever the motivation, if they weren't sorry before, but they are now, I guess that's a good thing. Maybe their next proposal will be a resolution in support of Brown v. Board of Ed.

Our politicans are spending time on condeming the genocide of Armenians in 1915 just to piss off the Turks.
Now they are spending time wanting to apologize for slavery that ended over 140 years ago too?
What about the poor American Indians, have we apologized to them yet? This could go on and on.
With an 11% approval rating our politicans have a "wonderful opportunity" to do something relevent.

Mc Cain's a nut...Won't get my vote. Too wishy-washy, plus don't trust him.
Not sure yet who I'll vote for, but won't be him for sure.
