Who Said What? Homophobe/Racist Edition

Now, you know me, always the cynic. Here's a couple of fun, foot-in-their-mouths quotes I've found from our 2008 presidential candidates.
Now these will be sure to zap whatever warm fuzzies you still had in your heart from earlier this week.
Time to get your guess on.
Round One:
"Unless Moses comes down with two stone tablets from Brokeback Mountain to tell us something different, we need to keep that understanding of marriage."
Round Two:
"Indeed, it is shocking to consider the uniformity of opinion among blacks in this country. Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e. support the free market, individual liberty, and the end of welfare and affirmative action.... Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the "criminal justice system," I think we can safely assume that 95% of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.
If similar in-depth studies were conducted in other major cities, who doubts that similar results would be produced? We are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men, but it is hardly irrational. Black men commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings, and burglaries all out of proportion to their numbers."
Answer One:
A. Huck spewed this wonderful, pop culture wit.
I found this gem thanks to the Human Rights Campaign.
Answer Two:
E. According to DailyKos, Ron Paul shared these hateful views in 1992.
No wonder the freaks at Stormfront continue to endorse and send their cash to Paul's campaign.
And his campaign doesn't return Stormfront's $500 donation, when that amount's peanuts compared to the millions and millions Paul can generate in one day. Hmmm....

Daily Kos are the racists, they want to seperate people via Affirmative action.
Robert P11:39PMDec 27th 2007
By the way, I know that using your brain is oh so very difficult - I sympathize believe me - but do you think maybe just maybe racists, criminals and the like have contributed to other campaigns as well? It's common sense why he wouldn't return the money, it just doesn't make sense. If anything Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate in this upcoming election who isn't controlled by special interests. Hope that helps and continue being a 3rd rate writer on the internet!

i cant believe Ron Paul is being silenced and distorted by the local and national medias. sick sick sick
Sandra6:04PMDec 28th 2007
Daily Kos is your source? Are you kidding me?
Adam6:17PMDec 28th 2007
I can not believe AOL and you guys post FAKE NEWS! That's right....this is FAKE! Ron Paul never said that! Stop smearing the good man with all this nonsense. Unbelievable. AOL, you have no remaining credibility.
Robert P6:19PMDec 28th 2007
Hi Abby,
I know it's a lot to ask you to do your job - I'm sure it's very difficult being a trash writer for AOL - but this quote was written by a rogue ghost writer using Ron Paul's name and was not written by him. It doesn't even remotely sound like something he would write. Hope that helps, glad to do your job for you.

Wow, this is absolutely pathetic. Not only are you using DailyKOS as a source, but you're also quoting Dr. Paul as saying something he never said. Horrible journalism.
Steve B6:41PMDec 28th 2007
DailyKos as a source?
Do you know what DailyKos is?
How do you even get paid? How is this journalism?
Justin6:41PMDec 28th 2007
It's clear to see that AOL along with the rest of the big Corporations are against Ron Paul and they will do anything to keep him out of office. They will not succeed. How do you thin he raised 10 million dollars in two days?
It's funny. Huckabee raises 100 grand and the media makes a big deal. Ron Pasul raises 10 million in 2 days and te media tries to smear him anyway that they can...
All of the major corporations are controlled by just a hand full of people. Especially the media.
Wake Up my fellow Americans. It's time to save our country from these fascist pigs.
Research Ron Paul for your self. Just go to u tube and watch a few videos.
Matt6:42PMDec 28th 2007
Dr. Paul has responded to this several times already and he has never exhibited language like this at any other time in his writings or speeches anywhere.
Let the mudslinging begin!
Echion6:43PMDec 28th 2007
AOL should be embarrassed for allowing this crap to be printed. Using Daily Kos as a source? Is this a joke? And what ever happened to journalistic integrity and checking your facts? Those comments, supposedly by Ron Paul, were written by a GHOST WRITER, not the good doctor himself. Stop lying and slandering the good name of Dr. Paul, and get your facts straight. This is absolutely out of line.
dean6:44PMDec 28th 2007
It is a complete shame that you have to resort to such intellectual dishonesty to write your smear piece. We would think that a writer, and reporter/journalist would use some integrity when crafting a piece.
I am appalled that AOL would endorse someone who uses such flagrant lies to formulate a hit piece.
Please, for future reference, remember that your word (spoken or written) is a reflection on you and possibly those you work for. When you write such blatant lies with NO research it speaks volumes.
Thank you.
Mikey6:44PMDec 28th 2007
Wow...Just wow...I don't even know what to say. Being an aspiring journalist myself, I am just amazed that you can't do your own research and find the truth concerning this subject.
Ken6:45PMDec 28th 2007
Ron Paul is not racist. This blog sucks.

This is libel, plain and simple. Check your sources ffs.
Michelle S6:48PMDec 28th 2007
I long ago stopped expecting truthful and unbiased journalism. Nice to see you're living up to my expectations (or down to them, which ever you prefer).
Tyler_SC6:48PMDec 28th 2007
Can you not separate fact from fiction?! Your quote used about Dr. Paul is false and slanderous. This man is a great-grandfather, doctor, Libertarian presidential candidate from 1988, Air Force veteran, National Guard Service-Man, and a 10-term Congressman who has been fighting CONSISTENTLY for the cause of liberty and freedom for over 30 years! And you treat him this way?!
I am personally offended by your lack of journalism, and I demand an official recant and apology.
Roman6:49PMDec 28th 2007
Apparently, research is not a requirement of AOL's journalists.
Perhaps you were paid to report this trash? I highly doubt any journalist who wishes to make a name for themselves would post this sort of thing without independent verification. Or mabye I'm giving you too much credit?

Hi There,
Thanks for posting about Paul. Please understand that Ron Paul has denounced white supremacy, calling it an "immoral" and "small" philosophy. If you're readers are looking for evidence please use the following link:
http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/350/index.html
(1st video, 12:40 seconds or so).
Second, Regarding the statements in the Newsletter. As many of your readers have already pointed out, Paul was not the author of those statements, they were made by a ghost writer who was later fired. In this case, Paul's problem is not his beliefs about race rather that he did not exercise sufficient control over his staff.
Paul himself regretted the statements made in the newsletter has stated that racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism. That link is here:
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/racism/
It would be wonderful if you could please be more careful in implying that Ron Paul is a homophobe or a racist. He is neither.
Thank you.
Best,
James
