Bad Sign for Romney
I know about these kinds of shenanigans first hand. Back in '04 I grudgingly put up a Kerry/Edwards sign in the front lawn of my little ranch house here in Jacksonville, Florida. It was something of an anomaly on a block plastered with W. signs and bumper stickers, but what the heck. Freedom of yard speech is an important American value. Days later, I came home to find that the sign had been burned to the ground. All that remained were the charred remnants of the paint stirrer that I'd used to prop up the flimsy cardboard.
When I flagged down a passing police car, the female officer wasn't surprised by my story. "Yeah, we've been having that a lot lately. Stolen signs."
We'll see where an investigation of this video leads. Were the offenders on Romney's payroll? McCain plants? Check in for updates.

Either way they are removing another persons property. They should have placed his signs there without removing the others. Rob what you are stating is that Romney has more rights than McCain? Last I understood is that we are created equal--That is unconstitutional my friend.
Cyndi9:48AMJan 7th 2008
I agree with Rob. We have no idea why they were removing the McCann signs and replacing them with Romoney signs. The people did not act like they were doing anything wrong and a camera was filming the process. I think there is a story we don't know behind the sign replacements.

Since they people are willingly being filmed, they are most likely 1. representing the property owners, who have the ONLY say about what signs appear or 2. work for McCain. No candidate's supporter would violate property rights on camera, well, no Republican's would. A Democrat's would, since they all plan on violating property rights as much as possible.

go McCain! is that all the Democrats can muster, Obama or Hillary out of 300 mil. people

It looked a little too relaxed to me. Why would they tape themselves doing something wrong and then put it on the internet. One of two things. One they actually work for McCain and they wanted to make Romney staff look bad. Or two they were just putting back signs that were switched out. They looked way to comfortable in my opinion. Not taking any side just giving my honest opinion of the video.

The staff members were taking the signs down from a school yard, not a person's front yard. Furthermore, the school is where Romney's rally was. Nice try at manipulation, but Romney's staff members had the right to take down signs at the property he had his rally.

This reminds me of the rampant youtube video that shows Romney supporters calmly 'cheating' in a straw poll by voting more than once, while Ron Paul's supporters shout out that they are each only voting once (except for one of them). And I thought, oh no, are Romney's supporters really blatant cheaters? Until I found out that the RULES of that particular poll were to vote for your candidate as many times as you'd like.
Is it at all possible, that the people in this video OWNED the McCain signs they were taking down, that they supported him before they found out he'd been lying? Or flip-flopping his views on the bush tax cuts -- within a single interview? Or maybe they were disgusted with his playground bully routine Saturday?
Again, these people seem far too calm and direct given that they know full well they're on tape, to be doing anything wrong.
Given Romney's experience and unequivocal ability to DO something about the mess we're in, it amazes me how many people try to make him look bad.

Mormons are deceitful, they actually(whether they admit it or not) believe that lucifer and JESUS are brothers AND that they will become gods. They won,t tell you this when they peddle their bikes up to your front door, luckily its found in their OWN twisted scriptures ,this bullet they can't defend....unless they resort to what they call "valincy for the srciptures".
supernovia11:00AMJan 7th 2008
Glenn, mormons will tell you everything on their websites, mormon.org and lds.org without even having to talk to anyone. No need to pretend they're being dishonest or "hiding" something.
Besides, all it takes is a glance at Huckabee's record vs Romney's to know its a bad idea to elect a Pastor-in-Chief.

WHO CARES ABOUT MCCAIN ,,,,,,,,wont he be like 90 after his eight years,,,,,,,WOW,,,,,,,,lets get someone new like BARRACK
Charlie11:06AMJan 7th 2008
glenn - why don't you keep your twisted opinions to yourself. The separation of church and state was established for good reason, so why don't you "judge" a man fairly accordingly to his acts and past record?
Rick11:07AMJan 7th 2008
What makes you think that the property owner did not give Romeny permission to place the signs on his property where Mcain had just stuck the signs without asking for approval.
Jairo Rodriguez11:11AMJan 7th 2008
I personally have seen people from the democraty party changing and removing signs in Virginia. They are the party of bitterness. It will be nice to ask the people that were switching posters their reason for doing it. There is always the other side of the story and I am willing to hear their answers

Of course, guessing at the details of things like this are merely conjecture and anyone's guess. But it is important to know that the candidate you are supporting has the integrity to not approve of such implications. We totally support Mitt Romney as the best candidate for President of the United States and hope he wins the NH primary. -- Dr. & Mrs. Chartrand

I don't believe those were Romney's people. I think those were McCain’s people acting as if they were Romney's supporters. Why would anyone with any intelligence, and in front of two cameras, sabotage a rival candidates signs while being taped? Give me a break!

How utterly ignorant people can be.Ask a Mormon what they believe, not some hate filled, wild-eyed born again Christian. They're afraid of Mormons because they proselyte and convert members of their congregations and reduce their income. Mormons don't pay their ministers, we have been told. We like that. Romney is far away the best choice, someone we can look at and be proud he's our president.
FACTS12:10PMJan 7th 2008
David Knowles, Mr anti-Romney! It's amazing to me that you can easily obtain a video, shot by professional camera men, and not the facts!! After last nights (Sunday) FOX debate, there is no question that Romney has the leadership skills for the presidency.

What makes you think the McCain signs are legitimately there are the Romney signs not? The way that the Romney folks were behaving, knowing they were being filmed, suggests that they certaintly thought they were on solid ground in replacing Romney for McCain signage.
