My Brain Hurts
If we can take this as a random sample -- I think we can -- these 700 represents thousands of confused people who have never participated in the process and who don't read newspapers.More than 700 people called the Virginia State Board of Elections to ask, "Why aren't my polls opened, and where do I go to vote?" said Susan S. Pollard, a spokeswoman for the board. On a typical day, the board fields 150 to 200 calls.
That could be good news for Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in his matchup against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) for the Democratic nomination. National public opinion polls indicate Obama leads Clinton by wide margins among young voters.Young voters whose brains must be hurting this morning. Quick, get them to a brain surgeon.

Maybe the novelty of the election process has already wore off for the younger voters? I know I didn't care so much at that age, but at 45, I sure care now. I think the younger voter is harder to keep engaged and interested. Just my two-cents.

I think that the thin wall of illusion burst on yet another generation of American voters. The youth turned out in earnest only to see how crooked politics are once they look deeper. How some state primaries just do not count and our "votes" are a waste of time and a farce to end up with your I voted (on nothing) sticker. Or how in some states the delegates are divided in such a way that he winner takes minority delegates with majority vote. Or how in a winner take all state if a candidate wins by 1% they take every delegate. Or the biggest joke... how in a presidential race one candidate has the most votes cast for him in the country, but doesn't win the election. It is just shown over and over in American politics that it isn't set up evenly and a lotta times your vote counts for nothing...not even 1 vote at he end of the day when it comes down to delegates and electorates and I am neither.

In regards to the original story, perhaps it says something that the media has done a very poor job of getting hard news out to the public?
Super Tuesday was largely taunted as a national primary...is it any wonder that folks took that literally?
As to the youth vote being discouraged, I think that's a Clinton machine wish...the times they are a changin' and folks are sick to death of both parties giving them candidates who think like the old school back room politicos...
A new day comin'...book it!

We have heard many comments on Romney's religion but NOTHING about obama's religion. What's with the media these days???? What about obama's family background??

obama states he is christian. mother atheist, father and stepfather native african of muslim faith. born in hawaii and early education both catholic and muslim somewhere in far east. i dont think he has any afro-american roots. but his wife might. obama has lots of step and half sibs and i would be interested in what faith they practice and who and where they are. im not voting for him for his muslim ties and i believe most of his experience in american was as a college student. he is good at writing books about himself and what he thinks.

i don't know what is wrong with voting for a cristian into the office by the name of Huckabee.forget he is a republican ,he has good moral values,he wants our country to have peace, prosperity, justice a good economy, happiness, love of our nation and the right to bear arms.He probably knows what it is like to live on a smaller budget than anyone else running for this position.I don't know anyone of anyone that would'nt that for our country.

its obvious no one is researching who they are voting for. thats why we have delegates. the gullible american public follows a charismatic leader like the pied piper. reminds me of germany in wwII. you dont have to believe anyone just check him out yourself.
there is stuff he cannot explain away so it does not get discussed at all so you make decisions detrimental to you and your country without info you need. just hoping for a crumb to come your way. not happening. the delegates are suppose to be smarter. they are our backup. so we can be stupid all we want. you dont put a magnificent powerful country in the hands of anyone who feeds you a line of bologni.

Eric Schulzke,
In watching hours of election coverage last night, it was pointed out that (especially by ABC) the younger voters were not turning out as they had been in the previous contests, but the elderly and women sure did. If this trend holds true in future contests, it should benefit Sen. Clinton the most.
Maybe the novelty of the election process has already wore off for the younger voters? I know I didn't care so much at that age, but at 45, I sure care now. I think the younger voter is harder to keep engaged and interested. Just my two-cents.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Mr. Clark
