Goodbye Ron Paul: He Has 'Another Priority'
Feb 9th 2008 7:15AM
Filed Under:eRepublicans, Ron Paul, 2008 President, Ken Layne's Outrage
Freedom died on Friday night. The Second American Revolution was lost. Ron Paul will not be president. He also won't be the GOP nominee. He won't even be a Third Party nominee.Who made this gloomy pronouncement that's sure to break the hearts of Dr. Congressman Paul's legions of Internet supporters? Ron Paul himself, that's who.
The official RonPaul2008 website posted a grim message from the gold-loving Republican at 10:14 p.m. last night.
The note, signed "Ron," says he'll be trimming the national campaign because there's no chance of a brokered GOP convention now that Mitt Romney has left the game.
(Was that Ron Paul's campaign strategy? To hope for a brokered Republican convention that would somehow turn John McCain and Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee's delegates into Ron Paul delegates?)
And he's got this other problem, or priority: His own House district in Texas may dump him in the primary. Ron writes;
"I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas."
Whoops.
Well, goodbye Dr. Paul. It was a fun ride. I hope your disgruntled Internet supporters don't go on a rampage or something. But if they do, it will probably happen within the safe confines of a video game on the computer, so most of us should survive the turmoil.

Now that Dr. Ron Paul has all but conceded the GOP nomination, I hope that main stream media will consider allowing the public to hear what Ron Paul's message has been(the same message that supporters numbering in the millions embrace). If the republican party bosses choose to ignore this ever expanding collection of Americans that have flocked to Dr. Paul, they are foolish. People that have been heavily involved in Dr. Paul's campaign, as well as those that remain in the periphery and like the ideas of removing the old establishment and most of it's power will likely take their vote to Barack Obama. Not because this will solve the problem but because it will give the republican establishment a wake-up call. The old party bosses and long time players must go. Find new jobs and give up what you have taken from the people. It is sad to watch the GOP die from the inside out because of a network of selfish leaders that would rather hold on to what "power" they have then do what is right for the party and nation. Please find another way to pay for you mortgages and fancy cars so we can have the government back that was left to us by the founders of this amazing society.

Gee Mr. Layne, thanks for the final insult.
Who are people like you going to make fun of now?
Just remember you may just get what you want in the Oval Office, and don't come around crying about it when it's yet another disaster.
I bet that not one of you snarky smart-asses even bothered to research Dr. Paul.
eric grant8:47AMFeb 9th 2008
are you kidding me? he did not concede..why not use the last part of his letter in your article? here, i'll do it for you
"In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me."
and why not try and stop degrading his supporters?

Ken Lane: Do you have any idea what Ron Paul stands for? Obviously not,you are in the mass sea of idiodic people who have not a clue. Wake up. Maybe look him up. If the news mentioned him more than twice during this campaign he may have had a chance. Its called Bias. Im sure there are people in this country who havent even heard of him! Bias!
Henry Garcia9:20AMFeb 9th 2008
Dr. Ron Paul did what 300 millions other Americans didn't have the heart to do: he ran for President with all the right ideas. That is all that God ever asks each one of us.
djcraw179:21AMFeb 9th 2008
Ken Layne's Outrage?? Ken Layne's IDIOCY for a buck! You and the rest of the not so loved media have much to atone for. The media has become a prostitution ring for big corporate America. You've sold your souls for what??? NO one will even remember who you are. Ron Paul and his ideals will live on forever and we who believe in an honest and fairly ruled nation will prevail; then who will you peddle your lies to?
James Hittler9:34AMFeb 9th 2008
Layne, you are indeed lame, and your attempt at wisdom is also. Good bye

The r3V0Lution will continue, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. Dr Paul has unleashed the genie, and it's not going back in the bottle. His message of peace, prosperity, and liberty, shall not be kept down. In a deliberate attempt to shut down his message, the media have given him effectively NO significant coverage. They are deliberately manipulating the results of the election. See the table down the bottom of this page:
http://www.journalism.org/node/9610
Events will turn to Dr Paul's favor prior to Nov 4. The "surge" is only working because Moqtadr Al Sadr self-declared a six month cease-fire in August. That six months is near up, and when he returns, his 6 months of religious study will make him a greater force to be reckoned with.
The economy, too, is set to collapse prior to Nov 4. Bernanke, et al, are furiously trying to keep it afloat till after then, with radical pumping of money into the economy, but that is not sustainable.
Dr Paul is NOT out of this race, so the author is WRONG to say "Goodbye".
We fight on, to the end.

Once again another 'writer' who thinks this was about Ron Paul. The Republican world woke up last week said 'McCain'? 'Who in hell wants McCain?' I'll tell you who, any one who wants a Democrat in the White House. A country gets the leadersship they deserve! Enjoy the free lunches because I'm tired of paying for yours and everyone elses! When oil is $200 a barrel, the dollar worth 10 cents to the Euro, and tax rate up to 60%, and local swat teams start thumping on you because someone claimed that you're a terrorist - remember, a people gets the leadership they deserve.
Ralph E. Bumstead10:01AMFeb 9th 2008
McCain is a dumb ass, and so is the republican party!
Lorane10:01AMFeb 9th 2008
What a stupid, cynical article. What else could Ron Paul do? God bless him for rallying all of us and campaigning for freedom.
Tom Burke10:16AMFeb 9th 2008
Now he can get back to his newsletter. His racist views can be spread again.
DavidG10:17AMFeb 9th 2008
So what is this blogger's schtick anyway? He's a mad beardie boy with an attitude, but is he all about "Yes We Can Can" with Obama or is he an unshaven Ann Coulter Lib Hater who wants us all to worship at the same altar as Huck?
Do I even care enough to click on the link and read the past blogs? Nah, the outright mean and stupid dismissal of Ron Paul and the insults to his supporters says all I need to know about him.
Excuse us again for supporting the Constitution, please forgive us for not wanting to start wars, please try to understand that we are just sheep following our herder to fiscal responsibility.
Sheesh, where does aol dig these people up?
June Zimmerman10:29AMFeb 9th 2008
Dr.Ron Paul was a good honest man- Shame on the young for laughing at him and their smartalic remarks-They don't know a good person when they see on - all they see are people like Hillary Clinton whos daughter is just like her-Chelsea told a little girl of 8yrs old- She didnt talk to the press --The little girl was acting out as reprter askimg prople about Hillary - The press got hold of it and on news yeaterday -Chelsea was smiling and talking to little girls Mother while reaching out to shake the little girls hand .Chelsea is a spoiled brat and in her village hasn't grown up yet to realize the world does not owe her OR her parents a living out of the white house or special privilages - Blessing Dr Paul - Onions to the clintons- now Go McCain

The Libertarian Party's frontrunner for the Nomination is Wayne Root. He's an attractive candidate with a lot of money.
No doubt freedom lovers will still have someone to vote for in November with Root.
Trina11:02AMFeb 9th 2008
The letter actually reads:
February 8, 2008
Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If
I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It
will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in
November. It
will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have
embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans
--
and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to
the
principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound
money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there
is
one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How
much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations,
hard
work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am
to
be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.
Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a
brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my
determination
to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the
convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get.
But with
so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a
national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of
course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican
party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third
parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the
ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will
remain a
Republican.
I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district
that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have
another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary
for
my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and
pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let
that
happen.
In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your
support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our
ideas in
politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I
will
need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons,
the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be
hearing much from you and me.
Sincerely,
Ron
I did not get the impression that he was giving up in any way!!

You ignorant piece of SH*T. Maybe you dont get it. Let me spell it out for you and i think i speak for many in this movement... WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED!!!! So wipe that smug attitude off check it at the door.
My God you are such a dumbass!
Gino11:31AMFeb 9th 2008
LOL, Ron Paul Republicans aren't going anywhere. When will the MSM mis-informers get it?
Nancy11:32AMFeb 9th 2008
It's too bad that nobody gives Ron much of a chance, he is clearly the only nominee looking out for America. The reason he is not reported on is because they are afraid if others hear his message nobody would have a chance in hell. I'm sick of people not researching the candidates, or only voting because of someones sex or race. Open your minds and look beyond their lying, cheating, stealing, secret cover-ups, and the list could go on for days. Thank You Ron for letting us know there are many others who care what happens to America and our rights. I just wish everyone did. Let's all pray for America because we're going to need it.

Last I looked Ron Paul needed to win some 99% of the remaining delegates in order to get the nomination on the first ballot.
