Goodbye Ron Paul: He Has 'Another Priority'
Feb 9th 2008 7:15AM
Filed Under:eRepublicans, Ron Paul, 2008 President, Ken Layne's Outrage
Freedom died on Friday night. The Second American Revolution was lost. Ron Paul will not be president. He also won't be the GOP nominee. He won't even be a Third Party nominee.Who made this gloomy pronouncement that's sure to break the hearts of Dr. Congressman Paul's legions of Internet supporters? Ron Paul himself, that's who.
The official RonPaul2008 website posted a grim message from the gold-loving Republican at 10:14 p.m. last night.
The note, signed "Ron," says he'll be trimming the national campaign because there's no chance of a brokered GOP convention now that Mitt Romney has left the game.
(Was that Ron Paul's campaign strategy? To hope for a brokered Republican convention that would somehow turn John McCain and Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee's delegates into Ron Paul delegates?)
And he's got this other problem, or priority: His own House district in Texas may dump him in the primary. Ron writes;
"I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas."
Whoops.
Well, goodbye Dr. Paul. It was a fun ride. I hope your disgruntled Internet supporters don't go on a rampage or something. But if they do, it will probably happen within the safe confines of a video game on the computer, so most of us should survive the turmoil.

I think you are wrong. I'm a registered Republican. If the Republicans put up either the Bomber or the Preacher for their candidate I'll vote either Democrat or not vote at all. Question: Just WHO runs the media? Dare I say the word?...
Vince11:55AMFeb 9th 2008
Ken,
I dont want to comment on your entire letter but the fact that you think all of Ron Pauls supporters are people that play video games all day are ridiculous and ignorant to say the least.
The pundits, MSM, and writers like You on these blogs never cease to amaze me.
You mentioned that us disgruntled supporters may resort to turmoil. Well the answer is a resounding "NO" because we are too busy fighting the very turmoil that you mentioned and well as fighting for the freedom for people like you and I to continue expressing our opinions on message boards like these, to say the least.
Although Ron's Pauls message was not a concession speech, I would not be surprised that he would abandon his 2008 presidential campaign soon but this Freedoom Revolution will not stop.
So finally I wouldn't worry about the rampage of the Ron Paul supporters if I were you.
The only thing to worth worrying about is the rampage and effects of the following:
The Military-Industrial Complex
The Medical Industrial Complex
The prison Industrial Complex
Inflation
Failing Foreign Policy
More Taxes
Out of Control Spending
Big Goverment
Police State.
to name a few.. and Ron Paul is currently the only candidate addressing these issues.
BTW I haven't played a video game in years...Why should I? I have You so called professional Journalist to keep me Entertained with your "spinned out" news that is 50% news and 50% Sci-Fi

Your interpreation is wrong and sucks. Mitt's people are voting for Ron.

"Freedom died on Friday night." - You are wrong, Mr Layne. Freedom was almost killed, but is's being reborn.;-) Can't you read? Just try to read what's in the text:
"Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties — just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican."

"I bet that not one of you snarky smart-asses even bothered to research Dr. Paul" I like that comment. Snarky heh. You this author has yet to consider when the dollar does collapse he might not have a job left, his masters will slash and cut to save on costs then he will cry into his pillow at night when he cant meet his mortgage and other costs of living. When what we know will happen, happens who do you think we are going to take our fight to? Do not think it will be online either. When the people learn the great injustice of what the media did they will storm the headquarters of these major mass media networks en masse.

What is with the scary folks commenting on here? All the author of the article is saying is Ron Paul cannot win the GOP nomination. It is impossible. Do you all understand basic math?
Paul is free to "fight on" for the presidency as someone said; but sooner or later he has to run for re-election for his House seat. Especially if he is being challenged in a GOP primary.
Marcia12:25PMFeb 9th 2008
I have to concure with Pietro. Further, I think you are secretly heartbroken that the Revolution appears, to those who have not read up on every Ron Paul article daily, to be stymied. So, no sense displacing your dissapointment by being an insufferable and damaging smartass. I think you are a closet revolutionary. Have some cojones, Son, and help our hero get a chance to speak at the convention. Then use your position to further liberty.
Julia12:26PMFeb 9th 2008
LAAAAME. You're just like the rest of the crappy media out there. Ron Paul isn't quitting. I wish you uninformed SHEEP could see how ridiculous you look all the time.

THIS WHOLE ARTICLE IS A SCAM

UNTRUE

You shouldn't even be a journalist. This is pure CRAP!
Go back to college.

Call me crazy if you want but I am not giving up on Ron Paul. This is not over and if you care at all about the future of our children, the future of America, and the future of freedom, you will vote for Paul.
On the other hand, I have given up on the MSM and I hope that they are the first to go under when this country goes broke or worse if Paul isn't elected. The way the media has mis-handled the coverage of the candidates has been criminal and I'm ASHAMED of the citizens of this country who have allowed it to happen. Never should the msm be allowed to pick our future president! It blows my mind the choices we have..... out of millions of people are you telling me that the best we can come up with are Clinton, Obama, Huckabee, or McCain??? How sad is that? Are most voters blind and dumb? I have been a registered republican for 30 years and I will only vote for Ron Paul.. nobody else. period.
AngryWoman12:49PMFeb 9th 2008
This article is infuriating.
You skewed everything Dr. Paul said.
Shame on you for trying to mislead people.
When I read this article I started crying my eyes out, until I read for myself what Ron Paul said.
I'm not sad, now you have me angry.
And how dare you make a joke about internet supporters. I've seen and been involved in countless peaceful marches for Ron Paul... and yes, it was REAL and OUTSIDE, not in a video game.
You need to start checking yourself before you write articles. This is false journalism and should be grounds for you to lose your job, but lucky for you, you have the big dogs on your side, right?
ScrewThis12:55PMFeb 9th 2008
How much are they paying you to shoot off these lies?
You should be writing about Hillary Clinton sneezing or Obama clipping his fingernails.
It seems that the irrelevant and false stories are selling, and lucky for you it seems to be your specialty.
Donald12:55PMFeb 9th 2008
because of his his stand on the war, I couldn't support Ron Paul... No way on this earth should we with draw from IRAQ.
rickster12:56PMFeb 9th 2008
Ronald Regan would have endorsed Ron Paul.He was the true conservative of the bunch, not wavering on any of his positions from day one.Love him or hate him he had something to say as many supported him and his views. One thing is for sure,he knew this war has been a joke, that the stand the U.S. has taken in it has not been worth the lives ,bloodshed, mamed soilders to live with pain and injuries the rest of our lives for the cause of al-Queida who wasnt even in I raq till we got there. He was the only one who said in the debate with Tim Russert that the war was senseless. Not worth the cost. With the resignation of Ron Paul the republicans lost the best canidate for their party.
Heres John McKain standing up there looking like a Q-tip,with no intent of withdrawing any troops from the middle east. He"s Billy Jack in a Q-tip outfit. He doesn"t have the experience to do anything with the economy which is the major problem today.
I think they should let Al Queida come over here and declare war in our streets and see what the American people have for their ass.Yeah there would be innocent blood shed, but no more or less than what we have now and the people from America would mop them up in our streets in less than a week.Thats the position Ron Paul took.
TELL ME IM WRONG THAT BETWEEN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO JUST LOVE A GOOD FIGHT AND THE GOOD OLE BOYS WHO WOULD SPIT FIRE FROM THERE ASS, IF AL_QUIEDA TRY TO HURT THEIR FAMILIES OR TAKE THEIR LAND TELL ME IM WRONG IN SAYING THAT AL QUEIDA WOULD NOT GET THEIR ASS KICKED.
OH Well John McCain you no how to run a nation right.
Angela12:57PMFeb 9th 2008
Dr Paul has truly started a Revolution. Supporters know what this fight is about. It will not end. We are here to infilitrate the process, and get like-minded officials to enter races and win. Precinct chair positions (2 year commitments) have been vacant all over the nation for years and are overwhelmingly owned by Paul supporters. No, it's not over, just beginning. We are now involved and greatly informed, and in time, praying America will be free again. Americans are rising up and Dr Paul just pealed the scales from our eyes. Brokered convention - do you have any idea how many people stepped up to be delegates for Paul? Check out all those straw polls for an indication, we didn't need the other guys to switch over to Paul - we are the majority of numbers. We are many, we are determined, and we will continue.
