Chesapeake Predictions!
Another round of primaries; more prediction folly! Today is another big day in the race for the White House. Given the polling, the headline outcome lacks the mystery of previous contests but the unknown details will be shockingly important. On the Democratic side, there are 237 delegates. The District of Columbia has 37 delegates, 99 in Maryland and 101 in Virginia.
On the Republican side, there are 119 delegates. The District of Columbia has 19 delegates, 37 in Maryland and 63 in Virginia.
All three "Chesapeake" primary states will have big Democrat turnouts. Blah, blah, blah.
But let's dig deeper!
The question, of course, will be margins. Barack Obama will win all three contest; but by what margin and where? The amount of delegates awarded between Super Tuesday and March 4 equal more than the delegates awarded on March 4 (Texas and Ohio). Obama has to continue to grab margins like he did this past weekend and then be a loser of the same margin, as Clinton has been, when she wins. This will keep him in the lead among pledged delegates.
The same holds true for John McCain, sort of. He needs to win with 50 percent plus in order to shut down the insurgency of Huckabee. If he doesn't, while not likely, it remains possible that Huckabee could deny him a first-round nomination.
In today's match-ups, both "front runners" need to stretch their margins.
Polls close at 7pm EST in Virgina and 8pm EST in Maryland and D.C.
If you're a voter int the "Chesapeake Primary," who and why did you vote?

Obama has no track record, if he gets to the White House he will find out in a hurry just how weak his position is on any policy change, we need experience not a pretty face and eloquent speach....
Littlepm511:53AMFeb 12th 2008
Yeah John, you are the one who has said it all. Just what are his policies?

Mitchell Van Yahres, a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, who died Friday, February 8, 2008, in Charlottesville, aged 81, tended trees for a living and people for a lifetime. [...]
His friends, who nearly included everyone who met him, are asked, in lieu of expenditures on flowers and the like, to make a healthy and significant contribution to the presidential campaign of Barack Obama or, if they insist, the charity of their choice.

I would NEVER vote for someone that is an admitted cocaine user(obama)! This texan will be voting for Hillary Clinton!
Tami12:14PMFeb 12th 2008
Do you live under a rock? I've read all of his policies and if you go to the Library of Congress web site you can see Senator Clinton's resume and Sen. Obama....She has no more experience than he does....however, he has better judgement and can get it done :} Living with Bill Clinton in the white house for 8 years may give you some type of experience..but it wouldn't be an experience I would ever want to have.

Gentlemen and Ladies,
When we talk about abilities and experiences, then we should look back a few hundred years. George Washington had little experience as a General and did an outstanding job or we wouldn't be here today. As first president "what experience did he have--none"! However, he had the smarts to keep the Presidency to a two term concept which has only been broken once.
We don't need to see a Bush, Clintion, Bush, Clinton run on our coutnry. She's no Deva! Only thing I think Obama lacks is his judment on why he's not wearing the American Flag...and for that he will lose a lot of military votes.
His policies at this stage are generic, but should be. As a candidate you must talk about the big scheme of things and work out the bits and pieces once your in office. A Clinton Vote is one that would drasticly hurt our country in the long term.

Hey you sore loosers, and Texas hillbilly's, Clinton just put you in the MIDLLE CLASS with her ad on TV--while National poles and show the Obama vote is from the EDUCATED WHITES and Blacks. --Who cares what the Latino's say--except President Bush and he is GONE or GOING back to TEXAS!! Please keep him. He cannot speak in public and Ombama is a real professional Statesman.

I am a lifelong Democrat, I have voted in every election since I turned 18 in 1969. I am impressed by only 1 candidate so far and that is Hillary Clinton. I see Barack, the mouth, as Jesse Jackson on Steroids...mr rhyme adn no substance. If the democratic electorate selects The Mouth, then for the first time, I will vote for John McCain and Democrats will once again fail where it should have won!
Stop The Mouth, Obama, and elect a true, lifelong, hard working leader...Hillary Clinton...someone who will bring Class back to our country!

STOP THE MOUTH>>>OBAMA is JESSE JACKSON ON STEROIDS AND COCAINE!

What Hillary has done, she just doesn't admit. Give me honesty over deception any day! Does anyone want to claim the Clintons are known for their honesty???
John1:25PMFeb 12th 2008
brian are you joking??? Anyone voting for Obama is the one voting on whim! What are his policies?? What does he stand for? His campaign speeches are just a bunch of rhetoric about how great his campaign is! Enough is enough. It's time for him to step out from the mirage, and start talking about specifics.

I would like to know why everyone loves Hillary so much. You act like her record is spotless and all the other candidates are either a) the devil incarnate, b)bozo the clown, or c)harboring skeletons in the closet. Check out her closet - do your research. As someone who lives in the immediate NY metro area, there is alot of coverage of NY Senator Clinton in the news regularly about her appearances and her grand soapbox speaches - but never once in her tenure could I name something she has achived for the good of the people. She talks a good game - mostly what the "other guy" (re: Republicans/Bush administration) are doing wrong and how we should hate them because they're devils and bringing us all down to hell...but in my opinion, a real leader would show how to correct the problem and take action - not just talk about it. And what true leadership did she show during her husband's administration?
What it all comes down to is that she's a woman - a democrat at that - and everyone wants to show how progressive we are by electing a woman. Big deal. As a woman myself - that's insulting. I respect woman who are strong and move beyond stereotypes and boundaries, but gender (or race, or religion) should not be the only reason you vote for a person. What are her policies? Universal health care? Where is the money for that coming from to support that, I ask you. Pull out of Iraq - now that being in Iraq is so unpopular? If the american people were supporting the war - as Hillary had voted way back when - she would be all for staying. She has no conviction - just what appeals to the masses when it's convenient. That, ladies and gentleman, is not a leader.

I VOTED FOR HILLARY CLINTON.I DONT TRUST THIS OBAMA GUY.
Linda Smith2:09PMFeb 12th 2008
obama was at the florida convention in orlando after pledging not to champaign, no other canidate was there cept for him. that tells me he is a cheap. he is involved with shady dealings with a slum lord and even shared property with him and wrote letters to the governor of his state to get the slumlords government grants. Obama is involved with nuclear power plants and has made a some shady deals there . The press is giving him a cakewalk honeymoon waiting for the Republican contender, trying to sabotage Hillary's campaign by their lack of scrutiny. WAKE UP America.Once the Republican is put into play they will peel Obama like an apple . We will wind up with a Republican President

Barack Obama '08
Needs no explanation.
The man speaks for himself. Anyone voting against him has not bothered to actually examine anything, and are quite blatantly voting on whim, and that isn't what we need in a dangerous time in this nation.
