Obama Leads in Popular Vote
Feb 13th 2008 7:00PM
Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Democrats, Barack Obama, Breaking News
I've posted before on the contentious subject of seating Florida and Michigan's delegates. On a related topic, NBC News has now released some interesting numbers regarding the popular vote. Even with Michigan and Florida included in the tally, Obama still leads Clinton in terms of the number of votes cast this primary season.Including Florida and Michigan the total vote stands:
Obama 9,942,375
Clinton 9,860,138
Consider that for a moment. Obama's name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan. NBC sees the significance:
Why does this popular vote total matter? Because it's yet another talking point when wooing superdelegates. Howm many supers will be comfortable voting against the candidate who's leading in the pledge delegate count and the total vote count?
Obama also took his first lead in Rasmussen's national poll today, and is also up according to Gallup. The news was not all bad for Clinton today. She picked up the endorsement of Joe Wilson, a well-respected figure in Democratic circles.

I wonder what Hilary had to offer Wilson for the endorsement - "Secretary of State Wilson" or "Vice President Wilson" or "UN Ambassador Wilson" - maybe "National Security Counsel Wilson" - or maybe just "I'd rather have political patronage than my integrity Wilson."

I believe Senator Barack Obama has the potential to be one of the best president's this nation has ever seen. He offers quality leadership and the opportunity to restore respect and dignity to our reputation in the world as well as restore a balance to our economy.
He is not a muslim. He is a Christian and this country was founded on religious freedom. I am not a christian. I am an american. Senator Obama is substantive and brilliant and I am hopeful about the future of our country.

It makes a ton more sense to me that Obama accept being Vice to Clinton for eight years; then he'd easily take the Presidency in the following eight years. That way, we get the best of him and Clinton; Clinton for eight and Obama for 16 years. If Obama gets the Presidential nomination this go-around, I'll vote for him but who will the Democratic party turn to in eight years? And what more could Obama do (or want to do) for our country after that? Sixteen rather than eight for Obama is the preference we should all be seeking.

Obama will be trounced in a general election just like Barry Goldwater was years ago. And all the flap about McCain being too close to the moderates? Well mass media, that is just perfect for modertate folks who do not want to vote for Obama under any circumstance. I would rather have an experienced guy like McCain in the office, even if his view on the war is opposite to mine, than to have a Junior senator in the chair. So either it is Hillary for president as the nominee, or my vote goes to McCain--and experience! And you know all the republicans know this!
pdweigandjd9:08PMFeb 13th 2008
I am sickened by the media and all the hype it has given Obama. He needs to be back in the senate making change happen. Since he was absent for 46% of the votes to Hillary's 26% absence and MCCains 51% absense, I think everyone knows who is really working and who is not. 20% more work in just the senante votes should mean something. When you don't show up to do your job nearly 50% of the time or more then you just aren';t doing your job, and most people in regualr life would be fired and lose their livelihoods for that! Wake upo America!
CHANGE MY A**9:20PMFeb 13th 2008
I am not for a fad, or a RockStar with no talent for Prez... I do not buy into the dream of hope, change, hearts, unicorns, raimbows..... this is the message of this man's campaign...
I beleive in substance, plans, experience and being ready to fight for this beautiful country of ours...
I will not vote for Obama, I will stay home with a quarter of the population, and will allow the republicans to keep this house... It is much better than having a motivational speaker that will only hurt this country even more.
Bush ran on the premise that he was a uniter and not divider, that he was not part of Washington's machine, and that he would bring change... LOOK WHERE THAT GOT US...
BE AN INFORMED VOTER, DON'T VOTE FOR RAIMBOWS, HEARTS OR UNICORNS...
If Obama wins the nomination, I will apply for a CEO's position at a Fortune 500 company and advise them that I will bring change and hope even though I do not have any experience... They will have to give to me... as many you already did...
emerillovesbam9:21PMFeb 13th 2008
Obama claims he's vows for change, that's a wrong statement, because he's more of the same.

OBAMA VOTED AGAINST THE WAR. HE DID NOT HILLARY. HILLARY COULD NEVER WIN THE PRESIDENT. EVERY REPUBLICAN WOULD VOTE AGAINST AND MOST DEMOCRATS (like me) NO MORE BUSH, NO MORE CLINTON. REMEMBER SHE WAS A BOARD MEMBER OF WALMART, WHEN HER HUSBAND OPENED ALL THE DOORS TO CHINA. NOW EVERTHING IS MADE IN CHINA, WHO BENEFITS, WELL FOR SURE WALMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND GUESS WHO ELSE GOT RICH IN OFFICE, THE CLINT0NS. AND GUESS WHO GOT POORER, THE MIDDLE CLASS THAT CLINTON SOLD DOWN THE RIVER TO THE CHINESE. NO WAY CLINTON. I WILL TAKE MY CHANCES WITH OBAMA. AT LEAST HE HASNT, LIED, LOST HIS LICENSE TO PRACTICE LAW AND CHEATED ON HIS WIFE.
BRS12:54AMFeb 14th 2008
Yeah, he is ahead. But......many more states need to vote before this is finished. We will see who is ahead then! Ok?
BRS12:56AMFeb 14th 2008
Vote for Hillary !!!
" Yes, She Can! "
t7pericles1:35AMFeb 14th 2008
Well, pd I can see you are "Fired up", "Ready to Go". This contest is over even if Hillary attempts to steal it. If she does that McCain wins!! DNC will not allow that to happen. And it does matter who shows up for the vote, but what they voted for.

I am so disappointed that voters are getting their hopes up to believe in this apprentice politician guy based upon his good looks and some undeniably great speech writers. All rah-rah, flash in the pan and no substance. If the Republicans don't make mincemeat out of him in the general (may I remind that Clinton has survived this for many years?), he will not be able to live up to the expectations he's creating.
Debra1:56AMFeb 14th 2008
"CHANGE MY A""---I couldn't agree with you more!! I am sick of the "change" speeches coming from Obama's mouth. We don't need change we need experience and a lot of it. A Junior Senator is not going to bring about change anyway. Couldn't he find a better slogan to run on then "change." I am sick of him saying he did not vote for the war in Iraq, of course he didn't, he was not a US Senator in Washington at the time. And with the lies Bush told back then most Senators did vote for the war. Obviously, I am for Mrs. Clinton and I will not vote for Obama. If he is the nominee,I too, will stay home for the first time in my voting life. After 8 years of Bush and the damage he accomplished, we need a nominee with a ton of experience and that would be Mrs. Clinton. Obama is a young man, get some experience and run in 8 years, you will still be a young man.

There are most discouraging things about about this primary. First one is that people are judging Obama by his looks/speach writers and Hillary by her marriage.
Secondly people are angered by Hillary's discussions with Women and Hispanics. Have you gone blind? Do you see the black vote?
I am so sick of Obama's CHANGE rhetoric. How about going to work and voting once in a while? He is a poor choice for a senator already, why would we give him a chance to be a poor president?
Do some research on your choices, dont just read the editorital crap in the papers and the slanted tv coverage. Has he sponsored or cosponsored and bills? Has he voted yes or no on anything?
Judge your candidate on their actions not their words!
FORCE more debates, let him try to beat Hillary, one on one!
Mike3:22AMFeb 14th 2008
mzGIGI, do you really care that Obama smoked pot? A lot of people have - even Bill Clinton. The only difference is that Obama is up front and honest about it, whereas Bill tried to give us that crazy "...but I didn't inhale!" nonsense.
Mike3:22AMFeb 14th 2008
Is it fair to assume that Hillary's only-the-big-states-matter-and-the-fly-over-states-can-rot mentality is indicative of how she'll run her presidency? Because, I'll tell you one thing, she's not making very many friends in my part of the country these days.
mzGIGI3:45AMFeb 14th 2008
Where are all the Christians, and common sense, when there's an admitted drug user running for our presidential office? Hasn't anyone noticed he talks like he's power hungry? "I" and "Me", whereas Hillary is about "WE". He's been sounding more and more like his train of thought is that like "Bush's". I'm shocked that our public is sucked in by these fellows who talk a good game and then everyone regrets their vote. Look at the last 8 years.... Hillary doesn't deviate. What is everyone afraid of, that she's a woman? Listen, where would everyone's life be without a woman to run and guide our families and aren't we Americans just one big family? Women are better multitaskers that think before they act, consider all the options and do think about how all the chips will fall down the road. Men have proven to just "do" and then do what they can to repair the damage later. Unless they just let the problem set til it's faded or forgotten, as they blame everyone else for the stupid mistakes. (if they are mistakes) I don't think anyone will regret having her in the office once we get her there. Think ahead folks and look, not just listen, between the lines of Obama & McCain. These 2 men are frightening! Can we really afford another 4 year cluster blunder, financially or otherwise? Let's get our men home and work on our economy and get this country squared away. Do you really think we could be in any better hands than a womans, a mother's? Get real America, do all of us a favor and let's get on the right track. Vote for Hillary!!!

IT'S SUPER DELEGATES NOT POPULAR VOTE!!
Mark Penn: (“The one man shop”) Penn, as representative of everything about Hillary Diane Rodham-Clinton’s pseudo-incumbent campaign that has been too cautious, too arrogant, too conventional and too clueless as to how much the political landscape has shifted since the last Clinton Reign. (Karen Tumulty – Time). Has put out a Campaign Memo Surrendering the entire Afro-American-Vote, to Barrack "Barry" Hussein Obama.
The Co-Clinton Presidential Campaign of (CEO) Snowman Slick Willie William "Bubba" Jefferson Clinton, (COO) Hillary Diane Rodham-Clinton and ("Political W***E") and media commentor head hunter Daughter Chelsea Clinton, will no longer seek the Afro-American-Black Vote nor try to obtain the popular vote, but will only seek to increase its vote count among Women, and Mexican Voters, large count delegate states, and to target Super Delegate.
The question is now why would the Afro-American-Black Community or any of its leaders seek to support The Co-Clinton-Presidential Campaign, in the Primary let alone the General Election, after having been written off in mass? Why would the Afro-American-Black Community after the Primary, fall in lock step behind the Clintons after having been written off?
How can any campagin expect to be taken seriously once it abandons a part of the American Community, The American Family?
The Clinton Campagin is no longer interest in running up the popular vote number nor states without high delegate counts. It is all about only the large states, and Super Delegates.
