The 'Dream Ticket' Lives
Mar 5th 2008 9:37AM
Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Democrats, Barack Obama, Breaking News
Well, in an appearance on the CBS's "The Early Show," Hillary Clinton once again gave voice to the idea of sharing the ticket with her Democratic rival:
Readers of this column know that I think Barack Obama is the better of the two candidates, yet I confess that the idea of a shared ticket, whatever the order, is starting to make a lot of sense. While Hillary's win is not to be discounted in terms of momentum, the fact is that nothing really changed in the delegate race. There's no happy ending to this contest, I'm afraid. The future of this race involves lawsuits, acrimony, and a hardening of bitterness between the two camps. All that will damage the party, whatever talking heads like Paul Begala might say.
So who should be on top? Age before beauty? Change before experience? Flip a coin. As I've said time and time again, their political priorities are strikingly similar. They each have strengths. Together, they'd unify the party, and crush McCain. Apart, it's hard to say.
But it takes two to tango, and Clinton seems pretty set on top-billing, while Obama believes mega-merger talk is still a long way off:
So, today's question (and feel free to elaborate in the comment section):
"We are just focussed on winning the nomination. That is my focus. I respect Sen. Clinton. She has been a tenacious opponent. It is premature to talk about a joint ticket."

Open your eyes! We don't just live in the U.S.A. This is a global world/economy we're talking about. Let's for once do it right. Bury the hatchets. Unite!Forgive and forget how the race has been run, and for those of you out there that are afraid of a black man on the Democratic ticket - shame on you. What year do you think we're living in?! We need this. Get over it.

Obama does not need to be dragged down by Clinton scandals and baggage. It's time to END the Bush-Clinton years.
Barack Obama for President!!!

At this rate, a joint ticket would actually be the BEST thing for the Democratic Party. OK, say Hil gets the nom. She would be an idiot not to ask Obama to be her running mate. That ticket would bring the Dems a landslide, bring both of their platforms and policies to the White House, AND would give Obama 8 years of on the job training to run in 2016! Experince AND Charisma, instead of having to choose between them.
How is this not a win-win situation? I find it VERY reassuring that Senator Clinton has not taken a "dream ticket" completely off the table.
Davidg11:15AMMar 5th 2008
Please, how is Obama being Clinton's VP a slap in the face to him?
He's young enough to wait 8 years. He would gain experience, which is a valid concern. He is a not-even one term Senator. At least Clinton has served one full term.
One of the big concerns I have always had about Obama is how he feels that the presidency is some kind of entitlement for him "I'm Barack Obama" you can hear him saying it. ANYONE else in his situation would have waited one full term and run in the next election. He believes he is above everything. I am literally afraid of him. Something is just wrong.
I used to say if this country can survive Bush we can survive anything, but really, truly, I am not so sure the U.S. could survive Barack Obama. I don't know what he wants to do.

TWO THINGS:
1. "Muslim" is not spelled m-u-s-l-i-n.
2. Obama is NOT a Muslim.
All best from

Ann...............so it is Obama's fault that no one has asked him about these things? Not in any of the Town Hall meetings? In any of the debates? I am sure he would not have any problem answering any questions asked of him.

LISTEN DEMS.
THE REPUBLICANS ARE TRYING TO PIT US AGAINST EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT A CLINTON/OBAMA TICKET IS A DEATH SENTENCE FOR MCCAINS CAMPAIGN.
A CLINTON/OBAMA TICKET WILL INCREASE OUR VOTES SO MUCH THAT THERE IS NO WAY MCCAIN CAN WIN.
DON'T LET ANOTHER BUSH CRONY IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
LETS UNITE AND WIN!!!

First of all: LOL! I *did* hear his voice, "I'm Barack Obama," before YOU said, "you can hear him saying it." LOL! Exactly, no doubt, there is some kind of entitlement issue going on. He's beyond arrogant. It's amazing to me.
Also, I can't blame you for being afraid of him. I'm not going to lie, I feel the same way. I think I feel that way because I know a great deal about him, and also because of how the media is worshipping him. Some people say they feel like they are living in a Communist state, with all the propoganda. That, frankly, frightens people, when their gut, and their intuition is challenged by outside forces such as media.
After a while I started watching the news and in my mind...I felt like I was watching insane brainwashed people...I felt like they became zombies!! My boyfriend looked over at me, and said...Am I going crazy? I said, No, it's the media. And that will be the new Obama saying:
It's the media, STUPID.

a Shared Ticket - DAMN SHE'S GOOD! Which is why I will vote for her for President. She's resiliant, tough, determined, smart and graceful. Hillary to the White House! - I can tolerate a Shared Ticket. Obama has good qualities for our Dem Party - he just needs to develop them - he also needs to learn HOW TO BE HUMBLE and respect 200 years of our country's progress! He'll get that as VP. I could go with it. I'd prefer that over a divided Dem Party. Hillary for President!
FOXYLYNX11:41AMMar 5th 2008
CLINTON AND EDWARDS TICKET SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. OBAMA ISN'T EVEN QUALIFIED TO BE V.P. HE SHOWED HIS TRUE COLORS AND STUPIDITY WITH THE CANADA/NAFTA THING - HOW COULD HE BE THAT DUMB - THAT IS NOT SOMEONE I WANT IN THE WHITE HOUSE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO LIE, AT LEAST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR REAR END COVERED. WHEN THE PRESS ASKED HIM QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS AT HIS RALLIES, HE JUST SAID, I AM DONE ASWERING QUESTIONS RIGHT NOW AND WALKED OFF THE STAGE - SOUNDS A LOT LIKE BUSH.

GOT TO LOVE IT....
If you criticize a black...you are racist....If you hire a white....you are racist...
If you beat a black man in a fair competition, you are racist...
IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE...WE need WET (white entertainment TV ...like BET)
We need WHITE HISTORY MONTH....
WE NEED WHITE SCHOLARSHIPS (oh wait...we have those already...its called MERIT scholarship)
We need employment based on qualification/achievement...
Why is it that you dont see WHITE buffoons in the NFL causing trouble?
BUT you can't count the number of black players that cause problems...
OOOPS...am I allowed to ask that question?
Yeah...I am a racist now...I guess I ought to vote for a white person...After all...BLACKS are voting for BARACK for one reason ONLY!!!
BUT....I dare you to come out and tell the truth and admit it...
Davidg11:46AMMar 5th 2008
Thanks Katherine, sometimes I think I am the only one going crazy! It's like living a Twilight Zone episode!
Oh and you bring up communist state. I have never in my recollection seen images of a candidate going up on walls. I just don't remember ever seeing it. Maybe I just don't remember. Around my city there are portraits of Obama going up sometimes really big and underneath they simply say "HOPE".
It's like you see in communist countries, not in the USA. I remember presidential campaigns as far back as (well don't really want to admit that one, but pretty darn far back) and I don't remember images on walls of Carter or even of Reagan like this. It's creeepy.
RLHHoof11:49AMMar 5th 2008
You are nuts! United these two stand NO chance of winning the general election. To be curt, a woman might win, or a black man might win, but together they present way too much change to the status quo for the average American to accept! Trust me, that boat won't float!
formy4kids711:59AMMar 5th 2008
Well I must say people have a lot of hate in their hearts for a man they barley know if we are ever going to make real changes then we must look past our color and the past of a person. He who is with out sin let him cast the first stone if Obama is not the winner then you hater raters must prepare your selfs for 4 more years of the republicans just as you hate Obama you will turn on Hillary because all and all this is still white america and know way is a woman will run this country So go ahead and take your best shots but when your young men are still dying in a sensless WAR look back on those days when you had a chance to change this world for a better place.Obama is just trying to make this country an even playing field that every man woman and child should not have to be treathen of losing everey thing that the work so hard for think for once America DO YOU REALLY WANT A CHANGE! or is business the same as usual in the White House.
Mary Smillie11:59AMMar 5th 2008
My "dream tickets" would be:
Barack Obama/Joe Biden
or - should the nominee be HRC ...
Hillary Clinton/ Wesley Clark
An Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket would be a disaster (as would their administration).
SPECIAL H12:00PMMar 5th 2008

gso.brown200812:02PMMar 5th 2008
CLINTON-EDWARDS WOULD BE A GREAT TICKET! Finally, the Obama hype is fading. People can now see that Obama was not honest and the biased media is backing off. It’s obvious, Obama has no plan---only the gift of gab. Vote Hillary!
