Strange Bedfellows
Hillary Clinton is making nice with the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. No kidding, she had a meeting with Richard Mellon Scaife. You know who he is:
- Scaife was the major backer of The American Spectator, whose Arkansas Project set out to find facts about Clinton and in which Paula Jones' accusations of sexual harassment against Clinton were first widely publicized.
- In a 1999 series of articles on Scaife and foundations that support conservative causes, the Washington Post named a close Scaife associate, Richard Larry, and not Scaife himself as the man who drove the Arkansas Project.
...So involved was Scaife in efforts against Clinton that many Democrats believed Hillary Clinton's statement condemning a "vast right-wing conspiracy" against her husband was a direct reference to Scaife himself. President Clinton later admitted to sexual indiscretions, but the other allegations that came out of the Arkansas Project were never proven.
Hillary apparently had a fine time in the VRWC HQ:
Since Rush and other members of the conservative media are launching "operation chaos" with the object of drawing out the Democratic primary, I wonder... Maybe the sudden detente here is either part of operation chaos with the realization that Obama is far worse, or a drawn out primary is just what the GOP doctor ordered.Asked at a news conference this afternoon what it felt like to sit in the heart of the "vast right-wing conspiracy," Clinton laughed.
"It was actually very pleasant ... " she said. "I said in the beginning when I arrived that it was obviously somewhat counterintuitive for me to be there, but it was a good discussion."

David, you need a vacation - you can't even find the right rumors to base your column on. I wonder if there is a black-out on you.
Here is some tidy rumors that is going fast and furious (obviously David isn't in the loop) among Democrats.
There is a definte move out that that both Obama and Clinton are dead in the water against McCain. Indepedents are flocking to the McCain banner, not necessarily the Republican banner.
DNC goers are talking about invoking the 1968 precedent where Ted Kennedy opposed HH, and put himself on the ticket (without a single primary)along with McCarthy and used Daley as the means to create dissonance and muscle. HH won the nomination but lost the election.
Not wanting a repeat of that debacle, talk is of over-riding the delegate/population vote and a call to vote for candidate on the floor with the name of Al Gore as candidate.
The fear is that although the Black Caucus will be successful in gaining elected officials in the cities of high population, the suburbs and rurals will loose Democratic seats - primarily due to the Rev Wright fracas and other Obama lies (NAFTA, IRAQ bungle by Powers).
So the move to go outside of these two candidates is very very real, and do-able. Gore it is rumored is not ruling it out - but he won't accept if the Black Caucus goes into attack and riot mode, as well as misinformed individuals like yourself. (Can you blame him?)
Thus the fear is that the Democratic party will collapse leaving it for -
You and your ken, Kennedy, Kerry, Dean, Obama and the anti-war gurus of the 1960s and the Black Caucus.
However, there are other rumors that an indepedent party is in the making comprised of democrats and republicans in an Andrew Jackson defection from their respective parties - who will make their debut around the 15th of May. I am wondering.
David, you really should get out more - it would clear your head. You must be hitting too much Red Bull.

I don't feel Hillary should be our next President. That being said, I also think this story is fluffy filler. I don't think this meeting means much of anything, especially on a day when one of the other candidates has released 8 years of personal income tax details for the public. And has released earmarks.
Hillary has told us that she'd leave the church if her pastor spoke "like" Rev. Wright, but does not tell us if she means the entire sermons or just the media sound-bites we have been treated to.
She has "misspoken" and "misremembered" a Bosnia trip...also not a significant bit of news, just another in a long line of soft stories that don't say much.
If Hillary meets with Rush Limbaugh, it just means she wants more or different publicity...not a secret coup.

I find a strange comfort that Hillary met with him. Maybe there is HOPE for them to UNITE. You know Obama always likes to claim that he could unite the democrats and the republicans but a true republican would never dare vote for Obama in the general election. No way. Obama is considered by many to be the most liberal candidate to have ever run for democratic nominee.
You know, Obama says he can unite dems and repubs, but he hardly gives interviews to conservative radio shows and newspapers like Hillary and Bill do, and he and his Michelle don't speak to Rush or go on Fox News. Perhaps they need to branch out more.
*I wonder what will come of this. AND, I am glad that Hillary finally said today that she would not have stayed in Pastor Wright's church, and that we can choose our church but not our family. SO, what does this mean, will Richard Mellon Scaife do some kind of article about it, since he owns that Philly-tribune? (The number one anti-Hillary newspaper ever, lol.) Will he use his billionaire power to get rid of Obama somehow? Dunno.
*Wonder what was the purpose of this? The outcome being what?

There seem to be a lot of "fair weather" voters on here who are only too anxious to come up with a reason not to support Obama who haven't bothered to read or listen to the entire serman by Rev. Wright or to check out the real policies and activities of the church.
You are know-it-alls who know nothing except what the media from the likes of Faux News wants you to think. DO SOME RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF!!! Those of us who have now know better than to fall for the falsehoods that Faux News wants us to believe. OBAMA IS A CHANGE FOR HOPE THAT WE CAN BELIEVE IN AND A REFRESHING CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.
Now YOU can educate yourself and get on board or keep you head in the sand and believe only what othe$s who have hidden agendas want you to think. They know you'll be good lemmings and follow their leanings without question.
What good does it do you to protest by voting for McCain? He is still more of the Bush policies. YOU still will have nothing! The economy is still going to have serious problems. We still will have people dying needlessly in wars. We still will not have jobs, health care, funding for energy research for becoming energy independent, good schools, funding for the infrastructures maintenance, etc. Waste your precious vote by falling for the HOKIE DOKE! You will only hurt yourself not just the blacks or whomever else you're aiming to deprive.
Katherine3:11AMMar 26th 2008
Black liberation theology is marxist black nationalism. The New Black Panther Party is down with it just like Pastor Wright and Obama, and the NBPP endorses Obama.
Obama isn't trying to unite Americans. He believes in the word of Cone and respects separatism.
Not interested. In fact, it enrages me. So, I am not interested at all.
Anne3:12AMMar 26th 2008
What makes people think that Obama's ''change'' will be for the "better"? His record shows his ONLY INTEREST is to further the cause of the black race in this country. If he has his way, we will have Martin L King's worst nightmare in the White House. King wanted to bring the people of this country TOGETHER, not DIVIDE THEM as Obama wants. He stayed in the congregation of Rev Wright for ONE REASON, HE AGREES WITH THE RACISM WHICH WAS BEING PREACED. HE HAS SAID AS MUCH IN HIS SPEECHES, EVEN AS HE DENIES IT.
Anne3:32AMMar 26th 2008
I read as much of the Rev Wright's sermons as I could stomach. He is a total racist, and his congregation, INCLUDING OBAMA, are all separatists who don't want to be integrated into this country. They want to remain Africans, who live as Africans, even though they know their life here is far better than it would have been in their "homeland". Instead of working AS AMERICANS, to better the lives of true Africans, AS MOST AMERICANS WOULD LIKE TO DO, they want to divide THIS COUNTRY out of some sense of, OR NEED FOR, retaliation against it FOR REAL AND PERCEIVED WRONGS IN THEIR PAST. Lincoln should have required that blacks, all, should be shipped back to Africa at the end of the Civil War, and let them "apply for citizenship" to this country, just like all other immigrants had to do. THIS NATION WAS STILL THE BEST HOPE FOR OUR PEOPLE, AND THOSE OF OTHER LANDS, TO START A NEW AND BETTER LIFE. OBAMA NEEDS TO LEARN THAT TRUTH HIMSELF BEFORE HE STARTS MAKING HIS ''CHANGES'' TO THIS GREAT NATION. BUSH HAS DONE ENOUGH ''CHANGING'' TO LAST ME FOR A LIFETIME.

Or was it Richard Mellon Scaife?

Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified candidate for president based on her "record," which she says includes
her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or "co-president" - and her seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record includes:
- As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill
Bradley and Pat Moynahan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would "demonize "anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.)
- Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations (Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood) were forced to withdraw their names from consideration, and then she chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as "my worst
mistake."
- Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had to
be withdrawn.
- Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.
- Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When
Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by
White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. (FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene Confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee in 1996 both the drug use and Hillary's involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office,
after serving seven presidents for over thirty years.)
- In order to open "slots" in the White House for her friends the Harry Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be
awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for "gross mismanagement" and their
reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House
funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.
- Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the "bimbo eruption squad" and scandal defense:
---- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.
---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million
dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.
---- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.
---- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury.
---- And Bill was impeached by the House.
---- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, "I do not recall," "I have no recollection," and "I don't know" 56 times under oath).
- Hillary accepted the traditional First Lady's role of decorator of the White House at Christmas, but in a unique Hillary way. In 1994, for
example, The First Lady's Tree in the Blue Room (the focal point each year) was Decorated with drug paraphernalia, sex toys, and pornographic ornaments, all personally approved by Hillary as the invited artists' depictions of the theme, "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
- Hillary wrote "It Takes a Village," demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.
- Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.
- Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen.
- In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the "woman card" by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.
- Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)
- As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
- Hillary's one notable vote, supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed. She has also lied about Bosnia..sniper attacks, evasive manuvering and no welcoming committee..NOT..unles she was using the 8 year old girl and Chelsea for cover.
How about those tax returns?
Quite a resume, isn't it? Sounds more like an organized crime family...

Beware -- the Clintons do not ANYTHING if it is not in their own personal interest. Remember, Bill traded nuclear technology to China for campaign donations. Hill did not make this meeting to be nice -- she knows her little empire is crumbling and is begging for help from any source. Don't think for a minute she gives a crap about keeping a radical out of the White House (she is one herself). Remember the motto -- "It's all about us."
Davidg7:52AMMar 26th 2008
How horrible. I mean, having a discussion with someone who disagrees with you on issues. This is right up there with Rev. Wright! What's next cooperation? What do they expect people to work together and be civil! THEY ARE RACISTS (that works every time).
Seriously are you guys this hard-up for stories? BFD. Big fing deal, she met with some conservative guy.

I think be able to talk with those un-alike ones self is often more about a persons character than the comfort of "likeness". Good for her!
Check out this if you haven't signed on.....

I listened to the sermons and I didn't find anything that offensive. I admit the HIV thing was laughable, but if you look at history you can see where suspicion would set in. Small pox was put on blankets and distributed to Native Americans and black men were enrolled in a syphillis study where they were told they were being treated but in reality they were given placebos. For the other parts, it shows a man angry at injustices he seen directed at the black community. I'm sure if we as whites were treated the same way we would be angry too.

Obama is sleeping with America's enemies.. A bunch of anti american's -- like his pastor -- his friends Rezko -- Ayers -- Davis -- Farrakhan -- and many more..
Obama once described the white race as "that ghostly figure that haunted black dreams."
"That hate hadn't gone away," he wrote, blaming "white people -- some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives."
See you in your dreams tonight then.. Glad to be their..

In the 1980's Reagan sought to stymie the Soviet
Union in Afghanistan. His administration cut certain back door deals to help a young Arab sunni become the leader of an Afghani freedom fighter movement. The man's name was Osama Bin Laden, and the group was Al Quaeda. Its efforts bankrupted the Soviet Union and paved the way for the world we have today, including 9/11.
Hillary Clinton, in meeting with those who would see the end of the Democratic Party, is following in Reagan's footsteps. "The enemy of my enemy" is only a friend until the common foe is defeated, and Hillary best be careful lest she faces a personal 9/11 at their hands once Obama is out of the way.
The Rush Limbaugh's of the world are dangerous extremists, no better than the Farrakan's, and it is just stupidity to think they can be controlled. Time and time again, history has shown us the backlash of sleeping with the enemy. Maybe you Clinton loyalists need to brush up a bit and caution your candidate.
And yes, I would say the same to the Obamabots, or the McCainites.
Billy9:22AMMar 26th 2008
I think if Obama really wants to stoop as low as Hillary he could easily say she is as good a liar as her husband. You don't choose your family members? I recall choosing my wife. I think Hillary chose Bill and he turned out to be one of the most corrupt politicians and one of only two presidents to ever be impeached. That doesn't show great judgement by Hillary.
Sandra11:06AMMar 26th 2008
He's No Hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
McCain will be crucified personally and in any debate. The man is no hero but at best is a bumbling, philandering idiot who was captured and became a POW for many years. While we can sympathize with him for what he endured, his career in the Navy is not to be applauded, he was at best an inept, undisciplned pilot who was constantly in trouble with the military. I almost feel sorry for the man but his own history will make him a laughing stock. His age, physical and post traumatic mental condition will be a prominent factor.
Letterman will have four more years of "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches" and his checkered past will provide fodder for late night monologues for years to come. ROFL

David, snicker snicker, you sound so Hahahahaha DESPERATE to get your man, Obama, out of the hot seat with Americans regarding Obama's minister, the infamous Black Panther Rev Wright and his new Pastor "Lynching" Moss that you'll stoop to anything.
Next you will be telling your audience that Hillary Clinton's great great uncle got drunk one night under a "shocking" harvest moon...oh my - and that destroys her "creds".
Pity you - your negativity and your shall we say uninformed and blatantly sophoric comments - you are one reason why independents will vote for McCain and not your candidate Obama.
It is people like you, as well as the Obama camp, Kennedy and Dean that has strangled the democratic party.
And the Republicans love you for it.
