Hillary's Negative Numbers
Mar 27th 2008 8:15AM
Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Democrats, Breaking News, 2008 President, Polls
From Chuck Todd:
Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37 percent positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.
So, if in the course of her bid to become president, Clinton is actually sinking in popularity, what does this say about her chances of actually winning in the general election?
More numbers:
When asked if the three presidential candidates could be successful in uniting the country if they were elected president, 60 percent of all voters believed Obama could be successful at doing this, 58 percent of all voters said McCain could unite the country while only 46 percent of voters said the same about Clinton.
As someone who voted twice for Hillary's husband, and once for the former first lady herself, in the state of New York (I would have twice, but I moved to Florida before the second election), these negatives jumped out as a big concern when our present contest began. The fact is that Clinton remains a polarizing figure in American politics, and nothing she has done in this campaign so far has significantly revised this perception.
Are there good reasons to vote for her, sure, just as there are good reasons to vote for Obama and McCain. But it seems fairly clear to me that in the remaining months of what has devolved into a negative campaign, her approval ratings will only slip further away from that magic 50%. Simply put, it just isn't possible to win the presidency with a 37% approval rating.

i,m not surprised by the numbers on reuniting the country...with voters giving 60% to obama (he gets all the black and muslim vote in the survey, which represents 18% of the population...McCain gets all the republican votes and 40 % of the independents...hillary has to share the democratic vote with obama..but take away obama black followers he would trail hillary by 4 percentage points

Hillary Hopes You've Forgotten ---
Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified
candidate for president based on her "record," which she says includes her
eight years in the White House as First Lady - or "co-president" - and her
seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record
includes:
- As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a
process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill
Bradley and Pat Moynihan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that
she would "demonize" anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she
couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party.
(And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and
Senate.)
- Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her
first two recommendations (Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood) were forced to
withdraw their names from consideration, and then she chose Janet Reno.
Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as "my worst
mistake.".
- Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission.
When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn.
- Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster,
and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House
staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster
committed suicide? and Kennedy was forced to resign.
- Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clinton's, Craig
Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When
Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI
files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White
House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. (FBI agent
Dennis Sculimbrene Confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee in 1996 both
the drug use and Hillary's involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that,
the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving seven
presidents for over thirty years.)
- In order to open "slots" in the White House for her friends the Harry
Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be
awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office
fired; they were reported to the FBI for "gross mismanagement" and their
reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy
Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House
funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two
hours.
- Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the "bimbo eruption
squad" and scandal defense: ---- She urged her husband not to settle the
Paula Jones lawsuit. ---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents,
which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor After $80
million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to
Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his
affairs.
---- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.
---- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury.
---- And Bill was impeached by the House.
---- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of
justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, "I do not recall," "I
have no recollection," and "I don't know" 56 times under oath).
- Hillary accepted the traditional First Lady's role of decorator of the
White House at Christmas, but in a unique Hillary way. In 1994, for
example, The First Lady's Tree in the Blue Room (the focal point each
year) was decorated with drug paraphernalia, sex toys, and pornographic
ornaments, all personally approved by Hillary as the invited artists'
depictions of the theme, "The Twelve Days of Christmas.".
- Hillary wrote "It Takes a Village," demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.
- Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never
lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino
support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also
had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.
THEN, Hillary left the White House,
but later had to return $200,000 in
White House furniture, china, and
artwork she had stolen!!!
- In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the "woman card" by
portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.
- Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives
to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the
White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars.
(There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)
- As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major
legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator Schumer to tend to
the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of
workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
- Hillary's one notable vote, supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has
since disavowed.
Quite a resume, isn't it? Sounds more like an organized crime family...
Make sure America remembers.

Let's end the soap opera, let's try a new cast of characters. I am a ardent Democrat, I want the White House back. I want an articulate, inspiring leader who talks to us, not to scare us, or scold us, but to lead us. Hillary, the conversation is over. Please, show a little grace, take Bill and get off the stage. Your insane ambition is NOT in the best interest of the country. Pennsylvania, VOTE OBAMA!

David, Where DO you get these photos? The caption should read: "I'll get you, my pretty. And your little dog, too!"
Seriously, you make an excellent point. Her claim for the superdelegates (supported by the rich Democrats who just threatened Nancy Pelosi) is that she will be more electable in November. On what planet? I, too, voted for her husband twice, and for her once (before moving to Philadelphia), but the numbers do not lie. Obama has outcampaigned her; he will also outcampaign McCain.

At one time I felt that Hillary Clinton would have become a solid leader for our nation, but as the campaign has progressed my opinion has steadily decreased.
Putting aside all of the other choices, I became bothered by an "ends justifying the means" mentality, that runs rampant in our nation. The idea that it is okay to abandon rules and fair play when it means great personal advantage is what fuels many of our core issues in America, from illegal immigration, to abortion, to our war in Iraq, to the debacle facing Michigan and Florida's vote in the primary.
In my opinion, she typifies behavior many of us have come to see as acceptable, right down to some of those who deliberately post hype, spin, and half truths in here to support their cause.
I'd like to see us become honorable again, and I can't see Hillary Clinton leading the way. She is too much like us to help change us.

How do people like this rise to the level of being a serious candidate for President of the United States? It isn't just Hildog, it is a plethora of candidates on both sides! How does this happen? We would be better off with a dictator of a benevolent nature than to elect a Hillary Clinton or one of her ilk. As they said in Nazi germany, at least the trains ran on time.

Many Dem. voters in Pa. do not see O'Bama as a "new breeze"
!!!!!...............actually we view him poorly for having stayed in the not so good reverend's church too long and cannot dismiss what Sen. O'Bama defends as just a small number of "stupid comments"!!!!! By Baracks not standing up for America, to the devisivness, hatred and screaming tone of racism in this church, he accepted complacently what was being preached....especially by staying there 20 long years. We feel he might not stand up for America in a national crisis. We see a major character flaw, unworthy of representing our country as Commander in Chief . We also view his speeches as sermons, without any great insight...just that he mimics what we all have been saying the past 8 years with G.W. Bush and people are just agreeing with this ....he has no new ideas or plans as far as we can see and feel he is hiding alot. We will not vote for him !!!! Hillary has been an action oriented public servant........ not a wordy sermon preacher....actions not words..and now we also see O'Bama lies about legislative bills he never got thru and lots more falsehoods on his voting record.
actions not words....Hillary!

As Hillary Clinton positions herself for a presidential run, a former fund-raiser is moving ahead with a lawsuit claiming the New York senator orchestrated the largest campaign-finance fraud ever by an American political campaign.
Peter Paul has filed a civil suit charging Sen. Clinton and her husband, former President Clinton, with fraud, coercion and conspiracy. California courts so far have denied the Clintons' motions to dismiss, and Paul expects the case to proceed at the beginning of the year, just as Hillary Clinton prepares to defend her Senate seat. Hillary has refused to personally admit she took any of the $1.2 million plus the Department of Justice prosecuted her finance director for hiding in 2005.

sorry but, the gallup poll of 700 people doesn't not speak for anyone but, that 700 and i don't think it reflects what i see and hear in an increasing numbers everyday. no one is forgetting the negative of obama's and i think you will see that more than anything else in the general election. look at detroits news...
KAB9:20AMMar 27th 2008
I do not believe the polls numbers. They earlier comment was correct. You can make the numbers say whatever you want them to say. What sample pool are they using? How large was the sample? What is the median?
This is statistics 101. They think we are stupid. I know you can make numbers reflect whatever agenda you have.
We know what the pundits(media) agenda is ( Obama)
I , for one do not believe it and many of friends don't either.
Hillary 08, "we are in it to win it"

Texas Republican for Obama9:28AMMar 27th 2008
I believe that all the people still talking about Rev Wright are Republicans. They are pretending to be Hillary supporters, because they are really afraid of Obama. They see that Hill has lost and Mac cant win.
McBush supporters know they need as much help as they can get becauase Bush has screwed the Republicans for years to come. Look at the last elections. Dems swept. Dems will sweep this time. Mac is too old, and Bush is too greedy.
McBush and Hillary would take Halliburton money (tax money)and keep us in Iraq.
We can no longer afford Iraq.
Let Exxon, and Halliburton pay for it, they have all the money.

Power Mongers... Hillary and Obama suffer from the same disease, Egomania, Yes... It is a disease, Look it up on Web MD. Hitler and Stalin also suffered from it. Obama has called the words of patriotic and proven past leaders "Just Words" as if only his own matter. Sadly, To the egomaniac only their own words are qualified to satisfy their addictive need for ego inflation. They are incapable of sincerely listening to the needs of others, To listening to the expert advise required to lead this country in these troubled times. These people are sick and not fit to serve. Hillary has so much to hide, So much to lie about. Obama is a product of radical anti-american teachings and the corrupt South Chicago political machine where black politicians become very rich very fast. Of course the poor remain poor and are inspired to believe all their problema are the result of the white mans government. We deserve better that these two, Much better !!!
In these troubled times with threats to our security from many fronts we must have a true and patriotic leader with proven experience, Void of egicentric agenda...
Beware the Egocentrics !!!

Interesting that this weeks straw poll has Clinton at 54% and Obama at 45%. The bullets that fly over Clintons head daily (from fellow Americans) have not seemed to help in shooting her down.
THE BOSS9:35AMMar 27th 2008
Have fun voting for Obama, in no time the whites will become the slaves, its a fact most blacks are racists, most hate whites for what ever reason,Obama has a teflon linnig right now and if elected(God help us) he will soon show his claws, and how does his wife wind up with a 300,000 + salary, I thought women espacially black women, even if they are smart would never commadnd such numbers, gee hmmm, that question never comes up. Obama is black and this is the year we will forgive all sins done to them. Lets free all the blacks in jail too. WE'll save a lot of money then. Oprah for sec. of education, and Pastor right fro sec of welfare and prisons. Go Obama 2008

The real numbers
Months ago - Clinton killed Obama
Right before Wright - Obama was ahead 5 or so percentage in tracking polls - momentum and most of the Edwards people
Now - neck and neck
The most recent move - a week two three or whatever is towards HRC and away from BO - blame the no we did not meet on NAFTA lie - blame Wright association and lie that he was never there - blame more bad news and revelations of higher donations from REZKO
Real number trend - HRC vs BO - HRC was killing the unknown - BO on his movement was moving ahead by 4-6% and now they are even again
Lets all enjoy the next month of two and see what happens
