Gore?
With apologies to Queen, is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?
I'm voting for fantasy, but that doesn't mean that the Gore option won't burn a bunch of news cycles between here and the convention. Jay posted on Thursday, and the story has gotten a few more legs since then. This article is sourced to "former Gore aides":
Former Gore aides now believe he could emerge as a compromise candidate acceptable to both camps at the party's convention in Denver during the last week of August.
Two former Gore campaign officials have told The Sunday Telegraph that a scenario first mapped out by members of Mr Gore's inner circle last May now has a sporting chance of coming true.
Added to this, we have the chin-scratcher of Gore's appearance on 60 Minutes. "Why now?", inquiring minds would like to know.
To the former Gore aides, this could be anything from a couple of guys speculating with a reporter at a bar, to a serious study commissioned by Al himself. Or anything in between. Given his unwillingness to oxygenate any presidential rumors so far, I'd bet on the former.
The big point to remember about an Al Gore candidacy is that we'd go from either Hillary or Barack supporters being very unhappy, to both Hillary and Barack unhappiness. Both sides would have to be convinced that Gore is an acceptable alternative to their candidate winning in their own right. And we're not there yet at all. Barack has a lead in the delegates, and Hillary still thinks she owns the nomination.

Lisa,
I think it is safe to say that of the remaining states (including PA), Hillary and Obama are likely to come out of those contests with virtually no net gain. Hillary will probably nail down 15 or so delegates in PA, and Obama will likely make up those delegates with close wins in the other states. Such leaves us in the same situation we are in now.
As to the topic at hand, It is certainly a thought provoking scenario. Personally, I do not think it is very likely, but it is within the realm of possibility. Gore has really come into his own in recent days, and could be a candidate that he was unable to be in 2000. On the other hand, I highly doubt that Gore would even want to be president, even if the nomination was offered to him on a silver platter.

I'm sure since the church issue has come to light, there are a lot of people that would like to take their votes back. I, a hard core Democrat will not vote vote for Obama. I will vote for Hillary or McCain, but I'd be THRILLED if Gore settled the score.

It is incredibly telling how many Clinton supporters would vote for McCain if she doesn't get her way!!Either you've become too much like her in this process or you were never democrats in principle.

Dave,
How creepy using the lyrics to "Queen" Wierdo. All you media Obama freaks are just plain weird, and extremely bias.
I am a woman and I could hear me refering to a Queen song, but you.....yuk dude. Just Yuk.
You creep me out, kind of like Obama does.
No OBAMA.
ILL TO DEATH OVER the damn PROPAGANDA.
PAM1231:28AMMar 30th 2008
Obama has only 120 delegate lead and calls for Hillary clinton to step down,, especially coming from Obama supporters, seems ridiculous.
I think one of them has to swallow his pride and accept the Vp . That will settle the problem permanently for both suporters. Gore is elderly statesman but not as flashy as either candidate. It wont fit.

Jamie,
Let me tell you where you just MIGHT be wrong. Why do you assume all Hillary supporters are Democrats? I am neither Democrat nor Republican, and Hillary got my vote. My brother and parents are Republican and all voted for Hillary! All four of us will vote for McCain if Obama gets the nomination. We will not vote for a smooth-talker who chose to attend a racist church for twenty years. Even worse, Obama made the decision to take his two young daughters to the church where they could listen to the Wright's garbage. This is not the man we want making decisions for our country. I am not against a Black President. I hope it happens in my lifetime, but Obama is NOT the one! Condi, Colin, yes, Obama-heck no!
Joppy W.1:46AMMar 30th 2008
Listen!! Gore already out of the picture. Now is between Obama and Hillary. I advise Mr. Gore to support Obama as soon as possible.

OBAMA KEEPS CONDESCENDING TO HILLARY BY TELLING HER IT IS OK TO CONTINUE. SHE DOES NOT NEED HIS APPROVAL.
HE SENDS OUT HIS HOUND DOGS TO URGE CLINTON TO CEDE, AND THEN HE COMES OUT IN PUBLIC AND TELLS HER ITSOKAY TO CONTINUE
OBAMA URGED LEAHY, RICHARDSON AND PELOSI TO DO WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
HE SAW IT WAS BEGINNING TO BACKFIRE ON HIM. HIS LEAD IS NOT THAT MUCH. SHE HAS WON BIG STATES.
THE MEDIA AND HIS GOONS ARE ALREADY TREATING HIM LIKE HE IS PRESIDENT.
WELL, OBAMA HAS A BIG SURPRISE COMING
AFTER NH ,OHIO TX, OBAMA NEVER LEARNS.
WE GON DEFLATE THAT BIG EGO OF HIS.
I WILL NOT REST UNTIL THAT RACIST PIG IS DEFEATED
I DONT WANT GORE , EITHER
HILLARY IS THE MOST QUALIFIED!!!!!!!!PERIOD.

This is from the website:
As a feminist, Hillary embarrasses me and it was always hard for me to explain until I read an Ann Coulter column. She says, “Girl-power feminists who got where they are by marrying men with
money or power — Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Arianna Huffington — love to complain about how hard it is for a woman to be taken seriously. It has nothing to do with their being women. It
has to do with their cheap paths to power.”
Ann is so right. Hillary took the, “cheap path to power.” This is a fact that is so obvious and for some strange reason, old-fashioned liberal women promote the idea that Hillary is smart to do this. This means that we have never, and will never, see what Hillary could do if she stood on her own two feet.
It is clear that Hillary is trying to look like the next Margaret Thatcher with her vote to support the war in Iraq and her visit to Iraq just a few days before she announced that she is running for President. Again, I can’t resist sharing Ann Coulter with you. About Hillary’s brief lean to the right, Ann writes, “It is as
easy to imagine Americans voting for someone like Margaret Thatcher or Condoleezza Rice for president as it is difficult to imagine them voting for someone like Hillary. Hillary isn't piggybacking on Thatcher because she's a woman, she's piggybacking on Thatcher
because Thatcher made it on her own, which Hillary did not.”
I rest my case. As a feminist, Hillary is an embarrassment. We want a woman president but not this woman.
////////////////////
Also TJ you are a joke..now Obama is condescending to Hillary. Give me a break..she has been trying to marginalize his campaign since the beginning. Let's not forget she (in second place) wanted him to be her
VP. Get over it she lost and she should lose. She is a pathological liar and married to a cheat. How many more examples do you need? I'm no fan of Ann Coulter's but this time she got it right.

ALGORE (HE WOILD LIKE US ALL TO USE HIS NAME AS A SINGLR WORD. BY DOING SO, WE USE LESS HOT BREATH AND THEREBY REDUCE THE IMPACT OF GLOBAL WARMING) IS THE SAVIOUR OF THE USA. HE WILL, FOR THE DEMOCRATS, SNATCH DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY. HE WILL RIDE IN ON HIS MAGNIFICENT STEED WHICH GETS 3 MILES PER OAT BAG (WHICH AIDS IN OUR GOAL TO RID OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOSSIL FUELS; EXCEPT THAT HORSE MANURE IS A KNOWN POLUTANT) AND ODER OBAMA AND HILLARY TO STEP ASIDE BECAUSE THE WINNER OF THE NOBEL PRIZE HAS AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH TO TELL THEM. YOU MUST GIVE UP YOUR FIGHT FOR THE WHITE HOUSE BECAUSE IF WE WIN, WE WILL HAVE TO ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING. BY LOSING THE WHITE HOUSE WE CAN CONTINUE TO BE THE CAHMPIONS OF NEGATIVITY; WE CAN CONTINUE TO BLAME THAT VAST RIGHT WING FOR EVERYTHING. AND ALSO, HOW MANY MORE BLUE DRESSES CAN THE OVAL OFFICE TAKE? AND IF NOT BLUE DRESSES, HOW MANY FOOT BATHS FIT ON THE HEAD OF A PIN? GO ALGORE, GO.
Voters Unite6:00AMMar 30th 2008
I bet the so-called women voters here all attended Rev. Wright's church. Being of mixed ethnicity, and NEVER ONCE WORRYING ABOUT WHICH ETHNICITY I SHOULD PUT DOWN, HATE OR REJECT, I AM ASHAMED OF ALL WHO VOTE FOR OBAMA DESPITE HIS TRUE BIGOTED BELIEFS, BUT JUST VOTE FOR HIS COLOR. Geez...haven't we made ANY progress yet. It was bad enough when O.J. Simpson got away with MURDER...OBSCENE, DISGUSTING, HORRIFIC MURDER, NOW YOU WANT US TO ACCEPT A MAN WHO MADE ME DREAM OF HOPE, OF 'YES WE CAN', OR 'UNIFYING' A NATION...ONLY TO TURN OUT TO BE TOO WEAK TO DECRY THE HATRED, THE VICIOUS, EVIL ATTACKS OF HIS PASTOR AGAINST OUR COUNTRY, OUR POOR SLAIN VICTIMS OF 9/11, AND THE REV'S LOVE & PRIDE IN THE ANTI-SEMITIC ANTI WHITE, ANTI BROWN, ANTI EVERYONE FARRAKHAN. Because I believed in Obama, Hillary and Edwards at the onset of this race, I sent each a similar financial contribution. When Edwards left, I sent the other two $$, but was edging toward Hillary because of the daily, e-mails I received from both camps soliciting money, or volunteers, Hillary's camp NEVER, NOT ONCE, REGARDLESS OF THE LIES, AND STUPID ASSERTIONS IN THE PRESS OR THE OBAMA CAMP, did her e-mails put Obama down, attack him, or personalize the Race. However, Obama's so-called 'white glove', 'staying above the fray' policy of not fighting dirt, THEY LIED, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. They did fight dirty, they did personalize. They tried to revive Bill Clinton's and Hillary's personal family problem---an old, solved, forgiven problem which WAS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS IN THE FIRST PLACE, for remember: 'He who can cast the first stone' etc. None of us are perfect in our private lives, and none of us are entitled to interfere with, or inspect another's life, unless it directly impacts the Nation---Bill Clinton's mistake was personal with his wife & child, none of our business but the Obama camp keeps stirring it up through surrogate comedians like Bill Maher who once was a great friend of Bill Clinton's---but who should listen to Bill Maher who prostitutes his friendship, honor, and so called Political fair play with three pounds of screen make-up, a tired repertoire and easy cheap shots, and a predilection for ladies of the evening. Is that the Pot (pardon the pun) calling the Kettle black? Some of you will try and say 'Well, Obama's Reverend is no different than Bill---we should forgive him if we forgive Bill. One thing is Bill Clinton's PRIVATE LIFE, THAT DOESN'T THREATEN THE SOVEREIGNTY OF OUR NATION, OR ITS SECURITY, THE OTHER IS OBAMA'S ASSOCIATIONS (and what a joke he had assigned Reverend Wright to head his race relations department...WOW on the 'judgement' category), with Wright blathering and giving the likes of FARRKHAN the keys to his church, his heart and our well-being. NO THANK YOU DEMOCRATIC PARTY. THIS BIRD WON'T FLY...NOT NOW, NOT EVER...NOT EVEN IF THROUGH YOUR TWISTED THINKING YOU NOMINATE HIM---For once in our History a black man would LOSE US THE DEMOCRATIC RACE not because of his color, since he is where he is because AMERICA, THAT SAME AMERICA THE REVEREND WRIGHT, THUS OBAMA & HIS FAMILY, ALLOW TO 'DAMN' AMERICA, would have lovingly given to him. Some of us can't take back our votes, so here is what I have to say:
There is no way I, and my multi thousand mailing list will vote Democratic if Obama is nominated. We might write Hillary in as an Independent, or even, worse case scenario really slap the Party in the face and vote McCain, cause we are 'Mad as Hell, and aren't taking it anymore'. No one, not even the Pope or Hillary or ANYONE will put the Genie back in the bottle that Rev. Wright uncorked over Obama's head. If anyone, white, brown or multi-colored had said ANYTHING like Wright said he'd be in jail or worse. He certainly wouldn't be President or the President's 'spiritual leader'. Talk about a rush to judgement. Talk about BAD JUDGEMENT ON OBAMA'S PART. Those who voted the WHITE MAN'S PSEUDO GUILT VOTE will continue to support Obama, and those of us of mixed ethnicity who felt that finally, maybe, someone like Obama could really represent our ENTIRE Country, be a 'Uniter' are angry, disgusted, appalled, and stunned at the stupidity and gullibility of the Democratic Party. People like Howard Dean and Richardson, and Nancy Pelosi etal. are scared of the possible 'black' vote fall-out if they challenge Obama. Well unless and until they recognize that we Democrats (of all colors and Religions) who are being disenfranchised by their obvious game playing in Florida and Michigan, and their endorsement of Senator Obama against the backdrop of his reverend's bigoted, hate filled anti-America stand, plus Obama's own racist words in his books, & his wife's sense of entitlement and bigotry, and Obama' implicitly endorsing Farrakhan's anti-semitic & anti-white & brown rhetoric by OBAMA'S supporting his Rev. Wright & his church's obvious love of FARRAKHAN'S bigotry we will boycott the National Convention. And you suggest we just close our eyes and ears and just ignore what they would do as they 'guide' our potential next President? What are you smoking? Dean's stupidity in ignoring his Democratic Base has totally compromised our belief in the Democratic Party. We will fight for Hillary. We will write-in for her to win, even beyond the convention, and through the election. We will desert the Democratic Party in droves rather than let Florida and Michigan not fully vote for their choice, and also we will punish Democratic contenders because of people like Penosi, Richardson, Dean etc. who come out for Obama despite his racist P.O.V. without giving all of us a chance to make our voices heard. This has been a railroad job against Hillary, and we want you and all Democrats to stand up and fight your own cowardly representatives, i.e. Dean, who believes he can put Humpty Dumpty back together again by just saying: "It's time for Hillary to quit"....It just won't work. Never. HAVE OBAMA QUIT IF HE LOVES THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY & THE U.S. THIS IS ONE WAY TO PROVE IT TO US. THEN MAYBE HE MIGHT BE VICE-PRESIDENT, OR ONCE SEASONED IN 8 YEARS, HE MIGHT BE PRESIDENT. NOT NOW. NOW WITH US. PICK OBAMA YOU'LL GET McCAIN, WE PROMISE. We are disgusted by Dean and Richardson (who ignored his own state's choice, and didn't even wait till the convention to choose, but tried to slant America's vote now. All he and Dean and Pelosi have done is alienate US. YOUR BASE. THE PEOPLE WHO PUT YOU IN POWER IN THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE, and WE THE PEOPLE WILL WRITE IN A VOTE FOR HILLARY, OR VOTE McCAIN (THAT'S A FACT) unless YOU tell your peers to give us Florida and Michigan in a FAIR RE-VOTE, and stop interfering against Hillary. I am not alone. I speak for tens of thousands, and will make sure that before the Elections I will be speaking for millions. If Hillary wins & is generous enough to 'train' and reform Obama, maybe we'll consider HIM as vice-President---but no way if it's reversed. NO WAY. NO WAY. DO YOU GET IT? NO WAY. If we see change in our Party that is fair, unbiased, non-bigoted etc. and if we start investigating Obama's true beliefs BEFORE HE POSSIBLY TAKES THE WHITE HOUSE & WE ARE STUCK WITH THE NATION OF ISLAM & FARRAKHAN (no reflection of my ethnicity or religion) then we will stay Democratic, if not we will desert a Party who will allow that kind of Hate-filled rhetoric to rule our Nation. OBAMA SHOULD QUIT BECAUSE HIS 'BAD JUDGEMENT' IN ENDORSING HIS BIGOTED REVEREND & HIS RACIST STATEMENTS IN HIS BOOKS, & HIS WIFE'S ARROGANCE AND 'I'M BETTER THAN ALL YOU WHITE & BROWN PEOPLE' DOES NOT QUALIFY HIM AS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, PLUS HE LIED AND CONTINUES TO LIE WHEN HE WAS FIRST INTERVIEWED BY CNN (ANDERSON COOPER) & HE SAID HE HADN'T BEEN IN THE CHURCH DURING THOSE SPEECHES OF WRIGHTS, AND THEN THE NEXT TWO DAYS AND NOW SAYS: 'DID I ATTEND CHURCH WHEN WRIGHT WAS SPEAKING ...YES.' Which offense bothers any true American more? A family crisis as in the Clinton's life, or a crisis of integrity, bigotry, racism, hatred, self-loathing, and an association with the likes of Farrakhan who hates everyone who isn't Muslim? If you vote Obama you are voting for World War Three. We have a choice, and a responsibility, no matter what our ethnic or Religious background is to vote for Hillary and boycott the Convention.

The only reason the media keeps throwing Gore's name out to settle issues, is to keep him from endorsing Hillary now. After Pennsylvania, and if all votes cast are counted, Hillary will be ahead in the popular vote. She did it by herself. Obama has had the media. This has been THE MEDIA/Obama against Hillary and everyone knows it. As soon as Hillary is defeated the Repub media will begin the attack on Obama in order to destroy him as they did Clinton. It must be Hillary. She is the only one who is tough enough to handle the Republicans

OBAMA THE AGITATOR,
IT IS SO SAD TO WATCH OBAMA CHANGE THE MINDS OF THE YOUNG WHITE VOTERS.
THESE YOUNG KIDS THAT DON'T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ECONOMY, BECAUSE MOST OF THESE KIDS DO NOT WORK, ONLY STUDENTS AND LIVE OFF THE EXPENSES OF THE FAMILY. THEY NEVER HAVE TIME TO READ THE NEWSPAPER OR WATCH THE NEWS. JUST BECAUSE OF THIS IT GIVES THEM TIME TO AGITATE PEOPLE OR JUST GO WITH THE FLOW. DO YOU THINK THESE KIDS KNOW THE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? DO YOU THINK THE KNOW THE BETRAYAL THE BLACK PEOPLE HAVE DONE TO YOUR BEST WHITE FRIENDS? THEY SWITCH CANDIDATES IN A BLINK OF AN EYE!!! ALL OF THIS NON LOYAL PEOPLE MAKE US THINK IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO BELIEVE IN ONE COMMANDER AND CHIEF BLACK AND FOLLOW THE SEGREGATED RELIGION. HILLARY IS THE BEST AND WELL PREPARED PERSON TO BE OUR PRESIDENT

I consider Al Gore a non-option. Why in the world would you think I would select him at this point over Barack Obama? Gore never generated the enthusiasm among voters of all ages and races as has our leading Democrat candidate.
And let's tell it like it is, Gore was the most evasive politician you could see. Like Hillary, he almost never gave a straight answer. In that sense, he practices the same old art of evade and control that Dick Cheney has become famous for.
Marge7:54AMMar 30th 2008
Al Gore is just a joke now...Shame on him for not being there for us from the start....There is no doubt in my mind that he would have carried the Democratic Party to a victory in the presidential elections....Gos Bless America!

Please read this article very carefully! If this can happen in the Texas Caucus who is to say it did not happen in the other 13 caucuses Obama won. The part in this article about the same handwriting with different names is very disturbing to me. During the Texas Primaries, Clinton supposedly lost the caucus. Hillary supporters reported the sign ins and the same handwriting with several different names. When investigated HILLARY WON the caucus by a landslide. I think the other 13 states need to be investigated. If they cheated in one state they probably cheated in the others. I have highlighted the important parts. Please read this and let me know what you think????

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama scrambled to secure Texas' last remaining Democratic National Convention delegates Saturday as the state pushed to settle the outcome of the March 4 caucus.
Early results tallied by The Associated Press showed that Clinton had 301 delegates, or 60 percent, compared to Obama's 202 delegates, or 40 percent. That's out of about 7,300 delegates expected to be selected at about 280 county and senate district meetings across the state Saturday.
Those delegates will decide the final allocation of national convention delegates at a state convention in June.
Because of the huge Democratic turnout in Texas' primary and caucuses on March 4, just registering delegates at took hours at some state and senate district conventions Saturday. At large conventions in Houston, Dallas and Austin, arguments erupted and confusion set in as complaints were lodged about the legitimacy of some delegates.
Credentials committees heard challenges lodged against the way certain delegates were selected at precinct caucuses in early March. Frustrated delegates shouted at credentials committee members in Senate District 23 in Dallas.
Many of the challenges were brought by Clinton supporters questioning the validity of Obama delegates. The Clinton campaign said it wouldn't lodge any challenges itself but that it was helping supporters who would.
Obama was also lodging challenges in some counties regarding the complex formulas used to determine delegate counts, said campaign spokesman Josh Earnest.
"This math gets pretty complicated pretty quickly," he said.
But Earnest said that unlike the Clinton campaign, the Obama campaign wasn't challenging the seating of particular delegates.
"They're engaged in a coordinated strategy to challenge our delegates and we're not," he said. "It's disappointing to see the Clinton campaign throw up these obstacles."
Clinton adviser Terry McAuliffe said Saturday as he drove between Democratic conventions in Georgetown and Waco to rev up Clinton supporters that the Clinton campaign has "not raised any of the challenges. A lot of our supporters have."
The Clinton campaign had previously said it was aiding supporters with legal advice and guidance on their challenges, state party officials said earlier this week. So the campaign is taking a behind-the-scenes approach, using its delegate supporters as the complaint filers, they said.
McAuliffe said in some cases handwriting on sign-in sheets at caucuses March 4 were obviously the same handwriting but for different names.
One woman in a wheelchair wasn't let into a caucus on March 4, and one Clinton supporter was told she didn't have to stay, he added.
"It disenfranchises people," McAuliffe said, comparing the Texas caucuses to Michigan and Florida voters being disenfranchised.
At the Travis County Senate District 25, after a credentials committee heard complaints, 12 Obama delegates were removed and two Clinton delegates were removed.
In Webb County on the Texas-Mexico border, where Laredo is located, Clinton surprisingly swept all 51 delegates because Obama did not meet the 15 percent threshold of caucus support.
Obama has fared better overall in caucuses this year, winning 13 to Clinton's 3.
Texas Democrats hold both a presidential primary and caucus. Clinton won the March 4 primary with 51 percent to Obama's 47 percent, earning her 65 national convention delegates to Obama's 61.
The state's caucus began immediate after polls closed primary night and quickly devolved into chaos in many parts of the state after an unprecedented turnout of more than 1 million Democrats. An incomplete and unofficial count by the Texas Democratic Party showed Obama was leading Clinton in caucuses 56 percent to 44 percent on election night.
A total of 67 national convention delegates are ultimately at stake in the Texas caucuses.
Obama entered Saturday's Texas conventions leading the national race for delegates, 1,623 to 1,499. It will take 2,024 delegates to secure the Democratic nomination. Those totals could change after this round of the Texas caucuses.
Associated Press writers John Porretto in Houston and Paul Weber in Dallas contributed to this report.

Dave,
Obama does have the lead, but the voters have not all spoken and 10 more states need to weight in. Florida and Michigan have to be resolved. Yes, Dave maybe Hillary will own the nomination! As for Gore, if it still not decided, meaning if noone reaches the clinching number of Delegates by the end of the contest, than yes. But I can tell you that if Obama is the nominee, more voters that voted for Clinton will be voting for McCain. So maybe Gore should step in as soon as possible.
