Ralph Nader's Poem to Hillary Clinton

Democratic leadership may be asking Hillary Clinton to quit, but not everyone is. Ralph Nader, in particular, wants her to keep going. In fact, he feels so strongly that she continue her campaign that he has, well, written a poem. And it goes a little something like this:

"Don't listen to people when they tell you not to run anymore
That's just political bigotry
Listen to your own inner citizen First Amendment voice
This is America
Just like every other citizen, you have a right to run
Whenever you like
For as long as you like
It's up to you, Hillary
Just tell them
It's democracy
Get used to it."

Now, it's a standard rule here at Political Machine to avoid any commentary on the literary arts. Even when Millie Bush is the author. Nevertheless we feel that this poem--while breaking free from the traditional shackles of rhyme, metaphor and references to booze--falls slightly short of the slam-dunk necessary to keep a sinking campaign afloat. For what it's worth, our editorial team has come up with some additional poetic tributes, and we invite you to share your own in the comments section below.

Fire and Ice

"Some say campaigns end in fire. Some say in ICE.
But don't listen to those people
That's a literary/political mashup that doesn't
work at all.
This is Bosnia
I'm watching Obama feed a cow on CNN
You have the right to do that Hillary
Whenever you like.
For as long as you like
It's up to you, Hillary
It's not up to Gore because he lost a while back
Bowl forever."
This Is Just to Say
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
but I'm not
bowing out
of the race, fools

What?
You've been through worse
And so have I
Like that time I made seatbelts mandatory
Or that time I pooched the '00 election for everyone
Remember that? I don't
Where am I?
Where are you?
We're all here. United
Gold Bless America
