The McCain Girls Face the Music

John McCainEvery meteorologist has a moment like this: The projected Saturday-afternoon tsunami never comes, and now you have to come clean with the ornery people who watch local news. Likewise,
the McCain Girls, whose videos exposed several hidden truths--including the fact that "McCain" rhymes with "Rain"--have come clean: It was all a joke. In other words, they meant to do that.

According to The New York Times, the humor web site 23/6 (the same folks who brought us the butt-kickin' Swift Kids for Truth) hired Jon Benjamin to produce both McCain Girls videos--"Raining McCain" & "Here Comes McCain Again"--in order to make fun of the campaign song phenomenon. Recalling one video, "Hillary4U&Me," Mr. Benjamin said, "it just looked like somebody paid them money to do it."

In truth, the "Hillary4U&Me" video, which was produced by Silicon Valley mogul Gene Wang, accomplished what the McCain Girls videos never could: A-plus, hot buttered soul with a generous helping of jazz hands. However, the McCain Girls--whether liberal or conservative or holding out for Ron Paul--can rest assured that their work was not in vain. Sen. John McCain not only liked the videos, he "watched them several times." Check it:
