'If Ron Paul Wins Idaho I Will Get A RP Tattoo'
May 3rd 2008 10:20AM
Filed Under:eFeatured Stories, Ron Paul, Primaries, 2008 President

Operation: RonDemption is beginning to build up steam, at least among the Ron Paul community. To help things along, I am offering to do my part. If Ron Paul wins the Idaho Republican Primary, I will get a Ron Paul tattoo. It will be either "Ron Paul 2008" or the "Ron Paul Revolution" design. So if you want to see a lifelong Democrat sporting some Ron Paul ink, forward this story to everyone in your address book.
For those of you unfamiliar with Operation:RonDemption, click here for details. Here's the Cliff's Notes version:
I have even mended fences somewhat with the Paul campaign's press office. After the jump, more on the campaign's reaction, some suggestions, and a roundup of Operation:RonDemption quotes.
The plan is simple. Any Democrats or Independents who didn't vote in February's Idaho Democratic Caucuses are eligible to vote in the Republican Primary on 5/27/08. Idaho is one of only a few open nominating contests left.
It wouldn't take much for the Democrats, aided by the Ron Paul Army, to put a serious dent in John McCain, especially considering the low turnout for the Dem caucus.
The excitement over Operation:RonDemption is building. The next step is to enlist the aid of Idaho Democrats. In addition to emailing this story and posting the link wherever you can, I would suggest targeting forums at Idaho newspapers and other Idaho-specific websites. Also, any of you with blogs or who blog at sites like RedState or DailyKos, post blog entries about this daily. There are only a few weeks left to spread the word.
I have been in touch with the Ron Paul campaign, and although they have not made an official statement regarding Operation:RonDemption, they did post my article on the campaign's official blog. I will keep them posted as well. If they see support for Operation:RonDemption growing, they are likely to put some more muscle behind it.
A good next step would be to get some boots on the ground in Idaho. Click here to find out how you can help.
Here's some of what is being said about Operation:RonDemption:
From Nolan Chart:
The expected outcome? Christopher bills his scheme as "Operation RonDemption, the plan to give Ron Paul a state primary victory while damaging John McCain's campaign." However, he is lowballing expectations: "An attention-grabbing 20%+ finish is well within reach, and with some hard work, an outright victory for Dr. Paul is not impossible."From Ron Paul Forums:
That's the second "Operation RonDemption" article he has written. Hope he keeps it up. And I love the title. From Freedom 4um:
Operation RonDemption, meanwhile, continues to grow. Count me in.From DailyKos:
It can't hurt Obama since only people who didn't vote in the D primary earlier this year are eligible to vote in this instance. It sends a clear message that McSame can't go taking votes for granted. And it does this by leveraging a candidacy that has already been reasonably successful at sewing the seeds of dissent among Rs. What's not to love about that...?

Tommy.....Haven't I told you how sexy I think tatts are? Of course, I'd prefer my name to be emblazened there (as if with a cattle prod!), but I'd defer to Dr. Paul if need be. How about on the small of your back? I know you just luuuuv that. LOL.
MichelleG.......how do you know he doesn't already have one there?! LOL. Advertising space has already been rented out on his left bicep, so....some ink on the right one would be the next logical destination.
Seriously, T., congrats on the shout-outs on the blogs and especially on the RPFP campaign's official website! Like that, Wish Belkin? Also on having your "Hillary the Decider" story linked to Slate and for your "50 Pundits" articles being 'googleable' (Chris Matthews even suggested that viewers google it, recommended by Rachel Maddow, perhaps?). Great week for you, hon. Many rewards coming your way.

Michelle,
my right glut says "Hillary Wins New Hampshire," and I'm saving the left one for "Edwards Wins as Write-in"

Di,
sorry, no "tramp stamp" for me. I already catch enough crap for drinking Smirnoff Ice.

This is just a distraction and another ploy to take votes away from the Democrats. Hillary is the clear choice for America in these the most uncertain and challenging times in our history. Senator Obama is not ready to face the challenges ahead and needs to go back to the senate to attain the needed skills to one day be President. That is if his associations and ties do not preclude that from ever happening. Right now we need Hillary!!! Thank you IN and NC for considering America's needs first in this nominating process. Go Hillary!
Tommy Christopher11:17AMMay 3rd 2008
Mary, Idaho dems already voted, in Feb. This is a can't lose for the Dems.
AMERICAN12:30PMMay 3rd 2008
A VOTE FOR RON PAUL IN NOVEMBER IS A VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT. HE WILL DO THE SAME THING ROSS PEROT DID!
OBAMA ATTENDED A CHURCH OF "HATE" AND ASSOCIATED WITH A RADICAL ANTI-AMERICAN MENTOR, WHO SPEWED "GOD DAMN AMERICA", FOR 20 YEARS --- THEN LIED ABOUT IT! DON'T FORGET OBAMA'S TIES TO WRIGHT, BOMBER AYERS, REZKO, FARRAKHAN, TO NAME A FEW.
STOP THE DRAMA --- SAY NO TO OBAMA!
HILLARY 2008.

Tommy, I kind of feel like if you are willing to go through this, then I should also contribute to the ideals of liberty and freedom with some equally painful--yet significantly less permanent--form of torture. So I am offering in the name of Ron Paul winning Idaho, that I will get a bikini wax.
Diana1:15PMMay 3rd 2008
Jo in SoCal.....I'm with ya', hon.....and make it a Brazilian! Coincidentally, I'm getting one anyway. Ouch! No piercings, though....well, at least down there. LOL.
Tommy Christopher1:18PMMay 3rd 2008
I will only go Brazilian for a win in Idaho and 20+% in Indiana. And Jesse Benton has to pay for the wax.
Denise Williams1:50PMMay 3rd 2008
I thought I was getting the right bicep. Sniff.
Tommy Christopher2:27PMMay 3rd 2008
Denise, you're getting something on the right side, just not the bicep.
Truth Detector3:04PMMay 3rd 2008
Let me be clear here. Hillary Clinton has nothing to apologize for, nor should she feel tainted because her former Pastor, William Procanick has been convicted of sexual child abuse of a seven year old girl. By the same token, Barack Obama has no responsibility for the words of Rev. Wright, nor for the words of his successors in the pulpit. All of these people have personal responsibility, and Rev. Procanick is going to be answering for his crime. Hillary Clinton has no need to “denounce and reject” the man. Indeed, it may be a good thing if she were to express her sorrow for his crimes and compassion for those the man hurt. But she has no obligation.
Mike3:08PMMay 3rd 2008
Could you please show us the design you intend to use? Maybe you could get it made into a removable tatoo and include the words "Ron Paul is the Top Potato"!
tj3:08PMMay 3rd 2008
Very good idea. I do not understand why liberal leaning media does not cover Paul once in awhile to put some heat on McCain. Paul has a very good chance of winning in South Dakota also. States out west have been Pauls best before Pennsylvania. Here is another very popular Paul site.

Make sure to get that Tattoo on your forehead - it's not going out of style anytime soon.
Chilli3:34PMMay 3rd 2008
Quote: "I do not understand why liberal leaning media does not cover Paul once in awhile to put some heat on McCain."
The reason is hedging. The liberal media supports McCain because McCain is actually a big-government liberal in Republican clothing. (As opposed to Ron Paul, the small-government conservative (i.e., "classical liberal, i.e. libertarian) in Republican clothing.) The liberal media knows that should the Clinton/Obama knock-down undermine the election of a Democrat, that a McCain nomination will still guarantee them a big-government liberal in the White House.
It is blessedly clear though that there are increasingly few credible NeoCons/TheoCons in Republican clothing--and, for that, we should all be grateful.
PaulFarris3:54PMMay 3rd 2008
It is a bit disingenuis to suggest that the corrupt GOP would even remotely turn to Paul if McCain melted down at the convention. They would never nominate Paul. His following and message are a threat to the neo-con stranglehold.
I am also perplexed why Ron Paul has decided to not 'revise and extend' the message of freedom and liberty and recruit millions of new converts by running 3rd Party. He's got increasing name recognition, he's got 100,000 person volunteer army ready to hit the streets to extend the freedom message, an Amazon.com best-selling book, and he sits on a $4 - 6 million campaign war chest. Yet, he seemingly fidgets while the country burns and the mainstream parties crankout mere mouthpieces unbeholden to the people but to power. Its the message, stupid!
Unfortunately, Paul refuses to confront the warnings of the founding fathers who understood the bain and tyranny of entrenched political parties. The GOP and the Democratic parties have become one corporate special interest party interested in maintaining the military-industrial complex, of which General and President Eisenhower sternly warned. We'll all be rounded up sitting in FEMA camps well before we get even close to taking over the GOP.
Ron Paul had to be cajoled and arm-twisted to get in the race in the first place back in early 2007. Perhaps it will dawn on his supporters across the country to lean on him once again so that millions more, in the context of a presidential election, will learn and yearn about all the freedoms and liberties being lost. Now is the time to demand Ron Paul be on every ballot in America come November 2008. The Libertarian Convention is in May. Now is the time for Ron Paul to put his name in the hat for a sure presidential nomination. Supporters lets inundate Ron Paul with calls and letters and tell them to please run on the Libertarian Party ticket. Paul's a lifetime member of the LP anyway.
Seriously, would the activists of the day have let George Washington or other prominent leaders retire to the farm when real leadership was called for? Is our country no-less at the turning point in history between freedom and tyranny?
Julia4:13PMMay 3rd 2008
I just want to thank you, Mr. Christopher, for going against the tide and writing about Ron Paul. Finally, a journalist who can think for himself. Bravo.

OBAMA HAS BASED HIS ENTIRE CAMPAIGN ON LIES. WE HAVE 50 STATES --- NOT 48 --- COUNT THEIR VOTES!
HIS TIES TO ANTI-AMERICANS AND TERRORISTS WILL NOT GO AWAY.
HE DENOUNCED PASTOR WRIGHT "AFTER" HIS POLL NUMBERS DROPPED. HE SUPPORTED WRIGHT FOR 20 YEARS. SAT IN CHURCH WITH HIS CHILDREN, LISTENING TO SPEWS OF HATRED AND "GOD DAMN AMERICA".
I'M A SMALL-TOWN AMERICAN WHO IS NOT BITTER BUT I DO BELIEVE IN GOD.
OBAMA CANNOT BE TRUSTED.

G-mornin Tommy, I still don't see how it would put any dent in McCain (maybe his pride) He already has the nomination. Although it would have a lasting impact on your right bicep. Why not your right glut? That would be even better! I think more Idahoans would vote for him if they thought it would put a dent in that! LOL, Have a nice day, I'm off to work.
