Clinton's Nuclear Option
... would be using her backer's slim majority on the rules and bylaws committee to forcefully seat the Michigan and Florida delegations (which she has the majority).
At this point, it would give her a 55 point lead in the delegate count:
"Hillary Clinton's campaign has a secret weapon to build its delegate count, but her top strategists say privately that any attempt to deploy it would require a sharp (and by no means inevitable) shift in the political climate within Democratic circles by the end of this month,'' Edsall writes in The Huffington Post.
"With at least 50 percent of the Democratic Party's 30-member Rules and Bylaws Committee committed to Clinton, her backers could -- when the committee meets at the end of this month -- try to ram through a decision to seat the disputed 210-member Florida and 156-member Michigan delegations,'' Edsall suggests. "Such a decision would give Clinton an estimated 55 or more delegates than Obama, according to Clinton campaign operatives. The Obama campaign has declined to give an estimate.
The article insists that there would have to be a major shift in the political climate for this move to be successfully adopted. (at least without major repercussions). And even with that shift, one cannot underestimate the level of hysteria and, dare I say it, Chaos that will result from the ranks of Obama supporters.
But on the other hand, Hillary knows that this is her one chance at the presidency. The stars were aligned, it was hers, and I think she sincerely believes that Obama will lose, and she will only be doing her party a favor. Even against majority wishes. If push comes to shove and we come down to continued muddle results, as in a split victory between Indiana and North Carolina, I think she could do it.

Clinton Defections Should Raise Eyebrows
Posted May 4, 2008 | 04:51 PM (EST)
Rev. Jeremiah Wright has proven to be Barack Obama's cross to bear. Wright's recent road show, specifically his National Press Conference
speech and subsequent press conference, raises questions for some about Obama.
It may not always be fair, but we are judged by the company we keep. What then does it say about the company we no longer keep? If Wright's behavior raises questions about Obama, are not similar
questions raised by the defectors within the Clinton camp?
This week, former Democratic National Committee Chair and superdelegate, Joe Andrew switched his support from Clinton to Obama. On the heels of the Indiana primary, Andrew, who lives in Indianapolis, also stated he planned to call the other superdelegates
he knows, lobbying them to back Obama.
Bill Clinton appointed Andrew chair of the DNC in 1999, he led the party through the disputed 2000 presidential race before resigning in 2001. He originally endorsed Hillary Clinton's presidential candidacy last year.

Everyone needs to relax here. After Tuesdays primaries, good chance they split and Obamas lead grows again. Demo head of New Mexico announced his vote will go to Obama along with a recent appointee from the same state. Have a hunch as long as Obama takes North Carolina the floodgates open with superdelagates throwing support to him. Could realistically be over Wed morning.

Why the heck is everyone trusting Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Jesse Jackson who want Obama??
THEY ALL LOST THEIR PRESIDENTIAL RACES.
They are all losers!!
They don't know what the heck they are doing.
Mr. Clark11:15PMMay 4th 2008
Dave,
She certainly has my blessing. In Michigan, after everyone removed their names from the ballot and realized their mistake, four tried to get back on the ballot. One of those was Sen. Obama. The Republican state controlled legislature prevented them from doing it. They had the foresight to see that the DNC would have to deal with this eventually and, at that time, they thought Sen. Clinton was the easiest to beat.
Well, fast forward and here we are. Sen. Clinton can beat McCain; Sen. Obama cannot. I hope Sen. Clinton does exactly what you are suggesting here. I think she will take Indiana and keep the loss in North Carolina to a minimum. I actually believe because she wants it more (the nomination) she will actually make a better president.
Sen. Obama would be a mistake and that is why the superdelegates are there, according to legend, and that is to protect the General Election in the Fall. Sen. Clinton is simply more electable.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Mr. Clark

K Gar:
I hope Hillary wins Indiana and North Carolina.
NC: We know it's 1/3 black. Raliegh: uber liberal left wing--more of Obama's crowd too.
Indiana: Obama wins all the states surrounding Illinois, and Indiana is the last state surrounding Illinois. Indiana also gets over 25 % of their news from Chicago, which is Pro-Obama.
Obama is outspending Hillary 4 to 1 in some cases in both NC and Indiana.
If Hillary wins. It's huger than anyone can fully appreciate. If it's close, that's amazing too.
Again, I hope she wins, and we'll see, but like I just explained, she needs to fight hard for this.

Hillary is stupid and would be a poor Commander in Chief. Why would she warn Iran that she will obliterate them, giving the enemy a chance to strike us before she could strike them. Hillary is attempting to flex muscles she does not have and put all of our lives in danger.
Joe11:31PMMay 4th 2008
This is a democracy. Lest we ignore and forget it, the Republicans will SLAM us this fall if we do not include Florida and Michigan.
Wisely and FAIRLY they will…because we are still a democracy…aren’t we?
C. Jenkins11:33PMMay 4th 2008
I don't know where you Hillary supporters have been living for the past 15 years. To say they are respected is a horrible joke and you must be living in a cave

Why anyone would vote for Hillary is beyond me. So, Hillary would "obliterate" Iran if it invades Israel? What is Hillary promising to do? Start WORLD WAR THREE? Moreover, I agree with David Knowles. The Clinton/McCain gas tax holiday is completely ridiculous and depicts a total lack of knowledge of economics. So Hillary says that she doesn't care what "elitist" expert economists think about her gas tax holiday plan. Which shows how unreasonable and difficult Hillary is to work with, and how uncompromising Hillary can be. Remember Hillary's "presidency" years. She could not get a national health plan passed because it was Hillary's way or the highway. Americans were the ones to suffer Hillary's highhanded "highway." Hillary is simply wrong for our country. OBAMA IN O8.
Peggy11:35PMMay 4th 2008
"The United States Senate may vote any day on the stealth imposition of what could amount to an $845 BILLION United Nations style global tax on American citizens?
It's called the Global Poverty Act (S.2433), and it is being sponsored by none other than Senator Barack Obama.
According to some conservative sources, this disastrous legislation could eventually force U.S. taxpayers to fork over as much as 0.7 percent of the nation's Gross Domestic Product -- or $845,000,000,000.00 -- on welfare to third-world countries."
The pundits and Obama are dissing Hillary for offering minor tax relief to Americans. How much concern does this bill show for us. This is Obama's answer to our financial problems.
C. Jenkins11:38PMMay 4th 2008
Joe,
The DNC has already suggested the votes for Michigan and Florida be split down the middle. Hillary has refused to accept the decision. If they aren't seated, it's because Hillary feels she's entitled to the "lion's share."
C. Jenkins11:43PMMay 4th 2008
Pipedreams:
Hillary is attempting to buy votes for approximately $29.00 and the oil companies will raise the rates to compensate for the tax credit, then when the credit is terminated, the $29.00 savings will equal a double charge.

Public manipulation at any cost to her party and to her country, and, sisters, yes, to her sex -- as long as it gives her a leg up to win the presidency. That's what seems to define Clinton ethics.
So Sidney Blumenthal, the creator of the phrase "the vast right-wing conspiracy," is now sending out prolific smearing emails from/like "the vast right-wing conspiracy" to wreck the best chance America has had in years by electing Barack Obama. And Hillary pays him to do this. Where is the crowd fomenting the "guilt by association" now? By not only embracing but so creatively employing these tactics that almost did the Clintons in AND cozying up to the GOP that used them in the 90s, I would say that Hillary and her campaign have set a new record for lowness in politics. I consider this worse than the Republicans, because we expect the GOP to have no ethics about such things. That's their calling card.
Hillary got into bed with both Rove and Blumenthal and seems to like it there. Then she looks into the eyes of the public and the television cameras, and she says she's sorry that the Republicans are using the Wright (non)issue against Obama. But this is exactly what her campaign has done every single day. And, again, bedmate Blumenthal is paid a lot of money for this. Where is the respect for the working class that she claims to have? Probably in that bar where she left her photo-op shot glass.
Was it good for you, Karl Rove?
Katherine11:46PMMay 4th 2008
C. Jenkins:
She IS entitled. She WON!!!
Obama and his supporters are anti-American because they are not trying to get MI and Florida counted. They do not care about millions of Americans who voted.

Presidents have always used language like that concerning those who want to NUKE our allies.
Hillary was asked what she would do if Iran nuked Israel, and she said we had the capability to "obliterate" them.
Obama is the one we should all be conerned about. He wants to meet with Iran without preconditions. Iran funds Hamas, you know the suicide bombers who kill Americans and Israelis on a daily basis. Hamas endorses Obama. Jimmy Carter wants Obama and he meets with Hamas in closed door meetings.
You need to ask YOURself why Obama wants to buddy up with the Axis Of Evil instead of America's allies.
Think.

You are so right. Does Hillary think the American people can be bought so cheap? Besides, what summer is Hillary think of? Surely, not this summer. Hillary is still a democratic presidential hopeful; Hillary isn't president yet. So, the Clinton/McCain gas tax holiday plan is mute for this summer, and next summer, who knows?
OBAMA 08

Hamas are democratically elected leaders of Palestine. We pushed the Palestinians to conduct a democratic election and they did. They legally voted in Hamas. Hamas must be recognized as a democratically elected leadership and Jimmy Carter had every right to speak with them if he wished.
Not only do we force a democratic election on them but are angry with the Palestine because we don't like their choice. It's amazing how arrogant we have become. Hamas has the right to sit at any table for diplomatic and democratic discussion.

Howard Dean needs to resign. He's a horrible leader. HORRIBLE.
BTW:
If Florida and Michigan are not settled properly, there will be a "level of hysteria and, dare I say it, Chaos that will result from the ranks of HILLARY supporters."
----------------------------
Also, KW:
It's Obama who is the pathological liar, but you aren't even aware of it--all of thr Obama supporters are in a BUBBLE.
It's Obama and his supporters who are the race baiters: Race card memo playbook, getting Ferraro and Bill Clinton to be perceived as racists, that new Kantor HOAX on youtube, and a million other things.
Clinton's are dividers??
LOL. 85-92% of blacks voting for Obama. You MUST be joking. Obama craps on small town USA--that's dividing a huge portion of our population--HUGE.
------------------------
AGAIN:
Obama mainly wins red republican states (by CAUCUS) and those states will be handed over to McCain no matter what. (are there caucuses in general election?...) He hasn't won all the most important big blue democrat states, or even the purple swing states really, and he's got 4 X more money, the heads of the DNC, all the media, and Hillary STILL WINS. She has the popular vote with MI and Florida--more people physically voted for her, by far. Hillary also has more superdelegates.
--Also, Michelle or Bill Clinton for first spouse, c'mon!! The world world knows Bill and Hillary and they are highly respected and liked. GET WITH IT!
Obama would be the worst candidate for the democrats. The WORST. Plus, he still has a ton more secrets to get out into the mainstream--really serious things, worse than Rev Wright, people. It
would be very ugly.
---------------------------------
Florida and Michigan need to be counted, and Obama supporters need to seriously ask themselves: Do I just care about beating Hillary or beating McCain?
If it's a first black president you want, pay attention to Cory Booker, I think he will run for president within this decade.
Obama is not experienced enough, and he has way too much controversy around him, and he's too liberal and too radical to win in the general.
People: this is a very white and conservative country. Obama sticks his middle finger up and brushes his shoulder off, and he knows too many people who hate America and white people.
Forget it. He's a loser for the democrats.
