Obama Declares Victory
May 7th 2008 12:36AM
Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Breaking News, Primaries, 2008 President
I watched Obama give the speech of his political life Tuesday night, full of soaring platitudes. He's so good at the speechifying, I shudder to think of McCain (or Hillary) getting within an order of magnitude of his raw talent in the matter.
Maybe it was just pent up frustration, because I'm sure he's been wanting to give that speech ever since Super Tuesday, but unfortunately Hillary kept. On. Winning. Even after it was supposed to be long over. But tonight, with an overwhelming victory in North Carolina (nearly 16 points at this point) and even a chance at winning Indiana (a few points down and closing fast), he finally has the opportunity to give the big general election speech.
Key phrase: "This has been one of the longest campaigns in Democratic primary history." Note the use of the words "has been." As in, it's over now. Where he goes from here is easy, he can simply assume the mantle of the winner. Be gracious in victory, and let the chips fall. Most Democrats, it now seems clear, while they may be nervous about his chances, their hearts really are with him, and they really do not like Hillary. I now expect a full stampede of superdelegates, making this a fait accompli. I do not expect the Democratic leadership to risk outrage in the ranks in order to reinstall Hillary Clinton. He didn't collapse in the face of the Wright scandal. He's not John Kerry (at least in the speech making) and so, he's good enough to be the front man.
For Hillary it's gut check time, but I'll save that for another post.

Yo, Hyper,
You would not get my vote, I'm sure. Hillary grew up in middle class and Bill poor and w/out a father.
Why do you think you work any harder than anyone else? There should be no ego involved when it comes to equal rights. See that's human for you, that's why we are all vile on one or another. And that has no lynx to voting w/white or black, but let's just say he's not exactly dashing. As far as voting and race issues, I would vote annnnytime for the former UN CEO, who was black, I would vote for Mandela, for Bill Cosby, Montel Wiliams, etc...but not this guy. He's too young to know it all, for Pete's sake, get with it Hyper and get over yr vile self.
What latte has to do with voting? Do you even know what latte means? FYI latte/leche is milk in latin, so if it would be word for word means drinking milk not coffee w/milk, which I might say you seem like yr at that age, the baby-stage, too young to decide a truly good faith for our country.
Sry to say, but sadly, this time, too many young ppl are going out to the polls and voting, blinded by miracles and expectations. It is good to vote, to excersize yr right, but that does not always mean, one knows what they are doing.

I was refering to the comments that people made in these post. Its such an ugly race that makes even younger kids shake their head. If Obama does get to the general election it will become worse. I hope he becomes our President, I just feel bad for his children and other children of color who view this. Its telling those young boys and girls "if you want to become the president of the united states, pick something else because it wont happen".

I respect hillary clinton but i strongly belive it's not her time yet we are in some deep situations meaning iraq and all over the middle east and trust me they will not welcome her no matter what it will just make things worst remember i said this. Now if you choose to go with mccain be prepared to deal with the same stuff that bush has been preaching.
Let me finish off my post by saying this i am not a registerd voter but when the time comes i will register and vote and so will thousands just like me that strongly belive in change good night and god bless.

smile: Yes, you are right, Kenya is center-east, I was thinking of a certain area in Kenya with relation to Somalia. Listen, Kenya is mainly Christian, but the blood of the Luo tribe is mainly Arab, and so is much of eastern Africa, especially toward northern regions. I mean, even right this second there are racial and religious disturbances in Somalia, right next door--you know Mogadishu...black hawk down, alqeada counts as well, etc. A lot of Muslims and Christians are having very serious issues, and there are other countries like that in Africa.
Yes, I know all about the Luo tribe and Barack Obama's cousin Raila Odinga running for president, but then losing, and calling it a rigging, and then 300,000 people were displaced and over 1,200 killed, largely because the radical Muslims who backed Odinga set the opposition's supporters--Christians on fire and they were alsop hacked by machetes....all because Odinga signed a secret pact with Muslims for sharia law and then claimed the election results were rigged and called for major protests and a million man march.
Nonethless Kibaki won the presidency again and Odinga is just prime minister. Obama should be happy--he campaigned for Odinga. Too bad Odinga is called a "jihadist" by many international papers.
I know ALL about Kenya as it relates to Obama.
But for now, I'm going to bed all, night.

Ah, the primaries, I am watching the results and it all makes me sick.... Kennedy, Kerry, Richardson, Shriver, and all the other turn coats of the old boys club..... Everyone forgets that Kennedy was the one that made a vicious, behind the scenes, (and in front) attach on Jimmy Carter when he went for re-election, greatly weakening his candidature.
Ted Kennedy has never had the interests of this country at heart, all self-serving boloney... but what can one expect from the son a crook, a boot-leggar, and himself a man of dubious character that left a woman to drown for the comfort of his own bed.... Chivalry is not only dead in the Kennedy family... it never existed....
Thanks to all these ego-maniacs, the republicans will be in office again, race relations are at an all time low in America thanks to Obama, and the wounds between people will take decades to heal... Am I now pessimistic, yes. And I will be voting for McCain, if Hillary does not get it. My conscious will never let me vote for a fascist.... Yes I said it, a fascist....Obama. The emperor has not only no clothes, but no soul.....
AND where is Oprah... All Oprah viewers wake-up call: HER REVEREND IS ALSO REV. WRIGHT.... SHE is a racist... BOYCOTT HER, Take away her money, and all this hate will stop being funded!
anna a2:17AMMay 7th 2008
P.S. Another wake-up call for Obama....
There are many people who voted in the earlier primaries for Him BEFORE we began to discover WHO he really is...
At least 5 of my friends have indicated that they will no longer vote for him and will vote for McCain if he is the candidate..
HE HAS LOST HIS SUPPORTERS FROM SEVERAL MONTHS AGO...
He will lose in November by a landslide...
Next scandale: Obama + Fintrade + Auchi
This is a man in bed with racists, terrorists, fascists, a shape shifter....
If 91% of the African Americans are voting for him.... who is voting color then. and not the issues....?

I cant believe that the people of north carolina, and certain parts of Indiana can believe obama to be the man of change when he associates with the likes of racist, and un american people, Louis farrakahn, jerimia wright, ayers, rezko all are racist and unamerican. Hell he wouldn't even totally reject them (for people that don't know websters there is a big differance between renounceing and rejecting someone) and then tere are people in that same group who think that if you attend a racist church with a racist like wright that you have never heard him preach that type of sermon then I have a lot of beach front land I would to sale you all in Arizona. Obama is a racist as much as anyone that he claims to be his associates. To think that I at one time thought that I might of voted for him if he had not associated with the likes of such people and said that he wanted to be the presidnet of change when he did not sponsor any bills while in the senate nor did he cosponsor any voting present is not taking a stance nor is it voting for change. I want to be the first to tell you all that have your heads in your duffles bag to pull them out and ask him what he has done as a senator, and then come back and tell me he wants to be the man of change. Wake up and smell the shit the man is cooking.
MissB2:31AMMay 7th 2008
I really don't understand this "brilliant" declaration that Obama can't win on Black votes. Who ever thought he could win with only the Black vote? There are NOT enough Black people in this country to to give Obama the victories he has. It's obvious to me that Black, White, Brown, Yellow, males, females, old, young and middle-agers are voting for Obama. Do the math! All I can say is "Go 'Bama!"
GBrownfromAbq2:35AMMay 7th 2008
Katherine - I can tell you are a Hillary supporter, because you take on a fake Southern accent, albeit a fake written Southern accent, when you are trying to pander. I mean, pander, Y'ALL. So heres the thing - Kenya is not in Northern Africa and it is not an Arab country. Kenya is in Southern Africa, right on the Equator, and it has no Arabian ties. Kenya is both Muslim and Christian. See, not all Muslims are Arab. In fact...stay with me here...most Muslims are not Arab. So now you can go back to explaining how this really wasn't a loss for Hillary because ..."oh, gee, didn't the polls say it was going to be bigger" (no the polls said it was going to be smaller) and "shouldn't Obama have done better and wasn't HIllary behind in Indiana" (no except for a few isolated polls) and "why is it only 50 % of people voted" (actually that's a high voter turnout)..and "Hillary can still win this thing if you count MI and FLA" (actually, there is no way she can win even if you do) and "Fox news is reporting this and that" (you watch Fox News???) and "Hillary cancelled all her appointment tomorrow because she was tired" (no she cancelled her appointments cause she got her ass handed to her and its embarassing)...and so on....and so on...and so on. I see that you are all over the Political Machine tonight - this story and so many others. You are a font of misinformation and bad analysis. But, like Hillary, your endless mindless pontificating is coming to a merciful end. I mean merciful end, y'all.
Gabe2:36AMMay 7th 2008
His speeches are GOAT..
lolol. Racists and biggots, and panderers, and status quo hags can't even deny that.
I am white. so shutup :)
eleni2:38AMMay 7th 2008
Dear William,
america is generaly a sexist society. If Obama is the Democratic candidate, MaCain is in theWhite House.
AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY
KMD2:46AMMay 7th 2008
The black vote will hand the presidency to McCain - period!
shaun2:51AMMay 7th 2008
You idiots! black people are less than 12 % of the US population! Obama could have never won w/o the white vote. Didn't the KKK say vote for Obama instead of Clinton? what does that tell you?
Gabe2:54AMMay 7th 2008
I find your constant reference to demographics and types of people disheartening, but if I were to address your comments as is, I fail to see how KMD. Where is your logic? Obama is a more galvanizing force than Gore and Kerry ever were. He will fare better than them.
Also, I think Clinton is a tougher candidate than Mccain will be.
He defeats Hillary..he has the Presidency. Done deal.
People: try to get passed your racial hangups and use your brains for once. We act shocked and surpised at Rev Wright, but why in the HELL should we be? This nation has for too long harbored and cultivated lines of resentment along cultural and ethnic lines. Obama is for trying to heal that. Trying to make this nation better. And yet you are all trying to sink back into your backward, hedonistic, respective primoridial sludges.
Frankly, alot of you disgust me. *shrug*
Wisewords2:57AMMay 7th 2008
wow! Eleni you are the real american tragedy with those comments you seem to forget that people just like you put this country were it is today by making stupid decisions and many will follow and still no progress. think mcfly think!
pissed3:01AMMay 7th 2008
To think that blacks are only voting for Obama because he is black is to say...Blacks are not smart enough to see what is at stake and what is needed. How stupid of you to assume this. I don't hear anyone saying anything about the whites that support Hillary. Maybe just maybe people are voting for him because they believe he has what it takes to bring us (smart) Americans together
Terri Iynn3:02AMMay 7th 2008
Obama is the best candidate to fun for president,I'm sorry that some white voter's feel that he needs the black vote to win. He needs all the people that want a change in this corrupt country. White people all ways looks at the color of one person skin. Because they know that most of them, have treated this race unfairly, and fair that Obama is going to turn the hand. Wake up !
ruthe3:07AMMay 7th 2008
this is for all you sick bigots get over it hillbilly is done obama is the nominee and our next president live with it..i love obama a brilliant compasssionate man that this country needs bigots go home and hang your heads in shame
nanc3:10AMMay 7th 2008

I believe that many of you in this blog are being honest about the fact that many Americans are still afraid to "hold these truths... that all men are created equal" I was particularly taken aback by the "monkey face" image and other remarks by some of the bloggers here. I do not usually engage in race chatter because most racists believe that they are superior, and no one will ever change the point of view of someone who belives that they are "Supreme".
Hopefully we will see the change from the ignorance of racial points of view take our society and collective national mind to level where the color of a persons skin no longer matters. Many of you in this blog are just proof that we have a long way to go.
