Superdelegate News: Obama Gains 4
May 7th 2008 3:35PM
Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Democrats, Barack Obama, 2008 President
A defection. Virginia's Jennifer McClellan, who had both previously endorsed Hillary Clinton, has now jumped ship (along with George McGovern) and supports Barack Obama.
Clinton picked up Rep. Heath Shuler (N.C.), and Indiana Rep. Brad Ellsworth. Clinton won both of their districts yesterday.
Obama also got the nod from N.C. State Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Meek, and from Jeanette Council, also formerly undecided from N.C. And then came word that California's Inola Henry has declared for Obama.
Shuler and Meek cancel each other out, leaving Coucil and Henry as unmatched pick-ups, but because McClellan pulled their support from Clinton (-1 for Clinton, +1 for Obama), the net gain for today stands thus:
Obama 4, Clinton 1.

I WATCHED HOWARD DEAN ON TV THE OTHER DAY AND HE WAS LIEING ON SENATOR JOHN McCAIN.THE NEWS GUY EVEN TORE INTO HIM BECAUSE DEAN WOULDN'T FINISH HIS SENTENCE ABOUT JOHN McCAIN SAYING THAT HE DIDN'T CARE IF THE WAR WENT ON FOR 100 YRS,WHICH WAS JUST A FIGURE OF SPEECH IN THE FIRST PLACE.BUT DEAN WOULDN'T TELL THEM THE REST OF WHAT SENATOR McCAIN SAID,LIKE AS LONG AS PEOPLE DIDN'T GET HURT OR WOUNDED.THIS DEMOCRATS NEED TO QUIT MAKING UP THINGS ABOUT JOHN McCAIN AND SHOW THE PROOF BEFORE OPENING THERE MOUTHS.

I agree with you totally, Brooklyn, on the community support and how it grows and grows. Hillary, on the other hand went to work for a big fancy firm for a lot of money, and then she was asked to be a board member for Walmart and she was a board member when women employees filed suit for sex discrimination, but she stayed on for over six years.

Cateyespretty5:51PMMay 7th 2008 WROTE:
I watched the Mccain town house meeting and that is exactly what he said. He was asked about whether he supported President Bush's position of staying in Iraq for 50 years. Mccain said, "Maybe 100." Afterwards he wanted to put it in the context of a non-hostile occupation, but he had already bit his tongue off. He can't put it back after he's said it.
I think this is awful ironic that republicans and anyone supporting Mccain would want to try to twist or reframe his statements after he's said them. He needs to be more succint about what he says. Once it's said, he can't change the meaning. He should explain his position more clearly before taking a position.
But on the other hand, people like yourself wants to try to hold Obama to something that someone else says when he has no control over that person. Mccain had 100% control over his comments.
And if you think that American soldiers could ever remain in Southwest Asia and not be killed or seriously maimed, then you are dense and asleep at the wheel. Those people are religious extremist over there. No American can remain in those countries without serious risk of death or injury, ever.
Look at history. The Christian Crusades would be a good place for you to start then work your way up to the present. Don't fool yourself, because you're the only one who has apparently fallen for the oky-doke.

Now, faced with a mathematical mountain climb that even Stephen Hawking could not ascend, the Clintons -- and it is indeed both of them -- are just about to paste a bumper sticker on the rear of the collapsing vehicle that carries her campaign. It reads: VOTE WHITE.

brooklyn chick you sound angry. maybe you should consider getting some help. sean hannity is spreading fear among white people and fear of who and what is my
question. he is a very insecure man who does not want to lose his sense of superiority. i really don't understand the hatred. you can actually see it manifest. he wants to destroy this man and why? obama has not done anything to this country that should result in such calculated attacks, yet we can name 10 things right off that have been done to blacks. i actually pity those who are so angry they can't think no father than what someone else plants in their head. hatred and racism is a thing of the past. ignorance is still and issue. you ladies bchick and tchick need to sleep it off.

Great comment.

How do you know what Obama has done for Chicago. Last time I checked Brooklyn was in New York. Did someone forget to tell me that we (I live in Chicago) have a suburb named Brooklyn. It must be that time of the month cuz you women are making no sense at all.

Can someone be allowed to support Hillary without being called a racist? I love Obama. I think he's great. But he doesn't have the experience or the ability to beat McCain. Frankly, I prefer a candidate that will be able to beat the Republican nominee. And, in my book, that's Hillary - not Obama.
I fear the Democratic hierarchy realizes the same thing but they are too politically correct (or fearful) to admit that Obama does not stand a chance against McCain.....In effect, the Democratic Party elders (McGovern, included) are willing to give up the Presidency because of a lack intestinal fortitude for some unpleasantries that would surely ensue if Hillary was made the nominee.
I loved Al Gore, but I was so disappointed that he didn't have the gumption to fight for what was his when the Bush Family and the Republicans stole the Presidency in 2000.
Unfortunately, Democrats are wimps, fearful to do any real fighting.....Hence, they all agreed to the Iraq war...(Hillary included)...there's no way they didn't know that Bush was lying about WMD's in Iraq....They didn't have the guts to fight it, though.
And now, they will not have the guts to make the hard decision and choose a white nominee over an African American nominee - they are more willing to lose the Presidency than risk any potential fallout for their decisions......
Republicans are nasty, vicious people....But that is what has gained them all the power, control and the ability to run the Country the way they do.

I have seen strengths in both Clinton and Obama but was leaning towards Hillary based on proven experience.
About a month ago, my 77-year old mother, a life-long Democrat told me she would not vote if Obama were the candidate because there was something she couldn't identify, she just didn't trust him. I disagreed with her but now I have heard the media report many other voters are willing to take that same position or vote McCain. I do believe this will likely happen and our country cannot afford another term of a Republican administration.
My proposed solution is to place both Clinton and Obama on the November ticket as the Democrate's nominee but with two choices:
1) Clinton - President/Obama - Vice President
2) Obama - President/Clinton - Vice President
LET THE VOTERS DECIDE!
vlg7:08PMMay 7th 2008
The obvious logical answer: The candidate with the largest number of delegates is the nominee for President, and the candidate in second place is the nominee for Vice-President.
But who said politicians are ever obviously logical?

WHOEVER SAYS THEY WON'T VOTE BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING AS SUPERDELEGATES, THEN ITS TOO BAD..THAT MEANS THIS PERSON REALLY CARE ABOUT THINGS THEY CANNOT CONTROL INSTEAD OF VOTING FOR THE PARTY THEY WOULD LIKE TO WIN..
HEY,,,,THE CHOISE IS IN YOUR HANDS...
AND THANK GOD FOR THE SUPERDELEGATES...WITHOUT THEM, THE CLINTONS WOULD NOT HAVE NO ONE WATCHING OVER THE CHANGES THEY TRY TO DO AS IF THEY RUN THINGS? WHO DIED AND CROWNED THEM?
BE REAL.....
Ingrid7:23PMMay 7th 2008
People are fast to say that Obama has no experience because he was not in the government for the years the clintons were there...well, experience does not have to come from the white house..and for someone who you think has no experience...he sure runs a good campaign....and Hillary that has all the experience, check the troubles she have had with her campaign,,,,she cannot pay her campaign people health insurance but says she will get health care for every american...ok now....she borrows money from her personal accout instead of reaching out to voters like Obama does...there is a reason why people not donating much to her...
honestly, the one i do not trust is Hillary, who has lied on many occasions even on her campaign...she tells voters what they want to hear...shame on her..all for votes...she is really desperate to be back in the whitehouse....
THE NUMBER DO NOT ADD UP ....AND AS FOR EXPERIENCE..OBAMA WILL HAVE EXPERIENCED PEOPLE ON HIS TICKET AND ONE GROWS WITH DOING..THAT IS HOW WE GET EXPERIENCE..
HILLARY HAS ALOT OF TRAVELLING EXPERIENCE..
WHOEVER DO NOT WANT TO VOTE AS IF THEY PUNISH THE PARTY.....IS PUNISHING THEMSELVES.
GOOD LUCK

Bye Bye - so many elected Super Delegates. When you can't represent the majority of the tax paying voters in this country - you can look for work. I am ashamed of the manner in which Obama has gotten his votes - it is not representing "the status quo". (Blacks and under 40's/students). Mostly non-taxpaying voters. I will write Hillary in on my vote if Obama is the nominee. If everyone does this - he can't win in November. I feel that this country has "babysat" long enough - welfare recipents and students who can't pay their pelle grants back. I have worked hard in this country too long, as I know many of you have and we just must take some steps now - to protect the validity of this country. HILLARY 08

May 31st a decision will be made on seating Michigan and Florida votes. This is one of the biggest reasons Hillary will not bow out - those are votes for her. Super delegates have not kept Hillary going - but she does have more. When all the dust has cleared in August in Denver - Super Delegates who cannot commit until then will decide. It should be based on who has carried the states that will beat McCain. So any of these senseless remarks otherwise doesn't matter.
Sue7:58PMMay 7th 2008
Elen - Hillary was not expected to win in North Carolina with a 33% Black vote there - with over 90% voting for Obama. Even in Indiana there were predominantly Black areas, near Chicago, which narrowed Hillary's win there - but she won. Have you see the breakdown of who is voting for Obama and who is voting for Hillary. There is your answer. She is more experienced and working people want her because she can do more about jobs and the economy. The ones voting for Obama don't really have those concerns.

Be very afraid America if Obama wins the nomination.

The "official" Obama nomination tour will have to do a detour into the land of unelectability (for him).

Clinton 08'

There was a very great lengthy comment made by Drew Erwin about the Clintons. Many have read it and said that this would not have been said if there was not some truth, also why haven't his comments been publicized? It appears that the Clintons think that they are the king and queen of America, and that they do no wrong. This is so very sad that they have this ridiculous attitude. No one owes them anything. It seem to me that this is double standards. You have too many bias people, and it is definitely time for CHANGE. No wonder so many people of color and also many many whites are seeing games played and are saying that if the nomination is given to that Hillary woman, who has been caught in many lies and as it has been also said that she always sound like she is reading from a children's story book, they will definitely vote for McCain. It is also very sad that she is the only past first lady who is so tremdously despised. What has happened to America?

The superdelegates are not pushing her out. They have been giving her every chance so she can get the nomination. The voters have pushed her out. After Indiana (18,000 votes difference) and North Carolina she has run out of options except for the super delegates. If she had won both states, believe me, that would all be endorsing her now.
