Rush Limbaugh Flips to Obama
May 8th 2008 10:50AM
Filed Under:eDemocrats, Barack Obama, Featured Stories, 2008 President
changing his tune by urging Democratic superdelegates to force the issue and make Barack Obama their nominee. From CNN: "I now believe he would be the weakest of the Democrat nominees," Limbaugh, among the most powerful voices in conservative radio, said on his program. "I now urge the Democrat superdelegates to make your mind up and publicly go for Obama."Limbaugh's plan to interfere in the Democratic Primary process, dubbed "Operation Chaos," was given legitimacy yesterday when Obama supporter John Kerry attributed Hillary Clinton's victory in Indiana to the gabber's tactic. What is behind this reversal? Is Rush being sincere? Is he mad at Bill Clinton for "hitting on" his "date?" Or is it all some kind of triple-reverse psychology?
"Barack Obama has shown he cannot get the votes Democrats need to win -- blue-collar, working-class people," Limbaugh said. "He can get effete snobs, he can get wealthy academics, he can get the young, and he can get the black vote, but Democrats do not win with that."
But Jamal Simmons, a Democratic strategist and Obama supporter, disagreed, saying the Democratic Party has "the best coalition to go out and talk to people across racial lines, which are the unions."
So far in this primary season, Limbaugh has stirred several controversies, such as refusing to endorse the Republican nominee, coming under scrutiny for possible voter fraud, calling the Mayor of Los Angeles a "shoeshine boy," accusing Bill Clinton of hitting on his date, and urging riots at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August.
This latest ploy begs the question,"What, exactly, Limbaugh is trying to accomplish?"
If he really thought Obama was easier to beat, wouldn't he recommend Hillary, knowing that the Democrats would do
the opposite? Or did he anticipate that with his endorsement of Barack Obama? The whole thing is reminiscent of the scene from "The Princess Bride", in which Wallace Shawn tries to figure out which cup Cary Elwes' Wesley has poisoned. You may recall that it didn't matter, after all, because Elwes' character had spent years developing an immunity to the poison. With national polling showing both Democrats ahead of McCain, the Democrats might just prove immune to Rush's machinations.
A good way for the Democrats to inoculate themselves against interference from outsiders like Limbaugh would be to not legitimize or encourage them. Senator Kerry.

thats a shocker

Get your facts straight. Rush never urged riots at the Democrats convention. He reported, when the regular media wouldn't, on the Democrats who have threatened riots in Denver.

I will be voting repub and taking my chances with Roe V Wade...and considering RVW has been a huge reason for me being a democrat all my life I think that says how strongly I and others feel about Obama.
Hello President Mccain..

Who even cares what Rush says? Mr. Obama is the weakest of the two. Like Hillary says people have gone through here baggage for years. Mr. Obama has several bags full, and they are only halfway open.

FLUSH LIMBAUGH'S IDIOCY ASIDE, tens of millions of us simply do not believe Obama has done much of ANYTHING that qualifies him for the most powerful office in the nation and his judgement is less than lacking.
Can you says President McCain? Good, now get used to it.

Rush Limbaugh IS conservative talk radio. His political instincts are unmatched by any politician, talk show host, editorial writer or political pundit today. If the Republican party listened more to Rush and less to their own so called experts they wouldn't be in the precarious situation they are today (picking McCain over conservatives like Mit Romney or Duncan Hunter). Rush has always stated that "when conservatives run as conservatives they always win"! Back in 1979 almost every political pundit said that there was no way that a conservative like Ronald Reagan could win the presidency. Reagan ran as a conservative and took 49 out of 50 states in the 1980 election. Operation Chaos was instigated by Rush and it has worked. Democrats are in chaos because of their own hypocrasies. They were all agog over the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency until the black candidaate, Obama, came into the picture. Now they can't tenig on the prospect of a first black portential president and they are in a monumnetal pickle. If McCain takes Limbaugh's suggestions for the campaign he will win big. If McCain keeps courting the left to the ignoring of his consevative political base he will lose.

I too will take my chance on Roe vs Wade and the Supreme Court. I have been a Dem all my life but I will never vote for Obama no matter what any of the leading Dems say. I was voting for Hillary because Obama's judgement and past drug use is something I can't accept, no matter what.
Hillary please don't run as his VP. My convictions against Obama are so strong that I still could not support him for President even with you on the ticket!
I'll hold my nose when I push the button for McCain

I'm glad that Rush Limbaugh finally agrees that Barack Obama is the best candidate. He will surprise the Republicans by being able to attract the Republican voters who don't want John McCain.

Obama = the candidate of hate
Hillary = the candidate we love to hate
McCain = the candidate our enemies hate

Mary, here's the big quote from the article you linked.
Hillary Clinton:
“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said in the interview, citing an article by The Associated Press.
It “found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”
“There’s a pattern emerging here,” she said."
End quote.
Toughcritic, if Rush had been held accountable for all of the ignorant crap he's said over the years he would have no credibility and as it stands, he has little left anyway. With the surge of the right and the neo fascist neocons, being a political commentator from his side has been like being a weatherman in Los Angeles; 'early morning low clouds followed by afternoon sunshine'. It's predictability has driven many a LA meteorologist to drink. The climate has changed though and we will now all get a chance to see that the emperor of right wing talk radio, has no clothes.
(Oh, my eyes! They buuuuurrrrnnnn!!!!!! Can anybody spare a couple of Vicodin? Concesca, you bitch, where are my PILLS!))

"Limbaugh's plan to interfere in the Democratic Primary process, dubbed "Operation Chaos," was given legitimacy yesterday when Obama supporter John Kerry attributed Hillary Clinton's victory in Indiana to the gabber's tactic."
John Kerry lost credibility in 2004 when he failed to respond to the swift boat attacks quickly enough and said it didn't matter if he lost the race because, no matter what, he'd still be a Senator and rich. So Kerry, as an Obama supporter, had to find something to hang Clinton's win on and he chose Rush Limbaugh. And Tommy Christopher actually thinks Kerry's comment gives legitimacy to Limbaugh's rantings? Interesting!!!!

We will oust the republicans from the White House and then we will prosecute them all starting with Rove and Rumsfeld.

Something is wrong about Indiana. And it AINT the Limbaugh effect...
I thought there were a LOT more people in Obama's latest Indiana concession/ victory speech:

Indiana voting fraud in "Chicago land" Gary Indiana? Yes. Probably. Look at Wolf Blitzer and other Indiana mayor suspecting foul play!

Illegal crap at voting sites again: No campaign stuff allowed. This looks professional enough for me to think this wasn't the one time:

P.S. Republican votes were split for Obama and Hillary, so Limbaugh effect? Nah.

Clinton is showing USA what poor judgement she has.

God is in control...not Rush or any other racist person. What amuses me is how the blue collar whites complain about their economic situations and then turn and vote republican. Republican policies grind against the working class. Please read What Is Wrong With Kansas? How Conservatives Won The Heart Of America, by Frank Thomas.
Most Conservatives do not care for minorities in ruling positions. Those poor white folks will keep living like second class citizens before they support a black man. Racism is alive and kicking, but things are about to change.
FYI--Get ready for the demise of Rush Limbaugh and all other hateful pundits!!

If you Left-Winger's can just take some time and ACTUALLY LISTEN to Guys like Rush, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck ..you will find out it's not only what Individual your voting for, but what Party your supporting. Higher Taxes, Class-Envy, Liberal Judges,Blame Blame Blame..The Democratic party took a cowardly Back seat to any Real solutions to the Fight of our lives on the War on Terror. I Implore Voting Americans to Educate themselves on what Works.

Rush Limbo is an ass, a lier, a drug user in the past and may still be utillizinf his maid to make his drug purchases. He lost his hearing most! likely to his abusr of Vicodin and or Oxycoton. This hearing loss is due to a gynetic problem in a small community of users and may happen. This is due to the prosess of the hearing cells in the coclia part of the ear to die, lay down and go away, once this process starts it is irreversable. He never sopke of this becouse he is in deniel and a lier himself. he is in the same boat rowing along with Billary and Wild Bill and now is flip floping his opinion. Can you trust this guy or nut job on what he is and does. He is the biggest bigot around, anti semetic and just a loser. His opinions are not founded and are just his. I know about this lier and his drug propblem causing his hearing loss, he is just an elitest who cant tell the truth. I live with a person who had this problem all to well, just call the House ear clinic in Los Angeles and ask them this question, does Vicodin and Oxycotton may have the effect on possable and profound hearing loss as a side effect, look it up in the PDR under Vicodin and it's side effects, do this home work and see for yourself and Vote for Barack who will change Washington or at the very least try to. Billary, the Butter is hard, the jello Is Jigglin, when you are dead, you lie down.

Rush is actually right this time. He can not win in November!! I am one of those Dems voting McCain in the general. I hate what the media and Obama have done to Clinton and I hate the fact that he has twisted the basic ideals of our party. He truely is the great divider. The dems now look like a black and white cookie. Thanks Obama, for setting us back years and years of progress.
