Videos of the Week - Obama Gaffe Added

Before we get to those, I just want to quickly plug Political Machine reader Tom Fitzsimmons' satire work over at The Specious Report, and at Daily Kos. Drop in there, laugh it up, and leave him a good rating, won't you?
By popular demand, I am adding the Obama 59 state gaffe, right after the jump.
Leading off this week is a video from my buddy Cenk at The Young Turks. For reasons that will be obvious later, I'm going to tell you nothing about it.
I actually had to watch it 4 times before I saw it. What a great metaphor. Here's a little tast of what's in store for the bear now that we're paying attention.
I don't usually do this, but some commenters noted the absence of this next video, so I am adding it. I thought long and hard before I omitted it, knowing that some might take it as a sign of editorial bias. It wasn't. My calculation was to think whether I would have included it if McCain or Hillary had said it. I wouldn't have, because it isn't a very interesting or funny clip, and barely qualifies as a gaffe. If it had been Bush, maybe, because there's a lot of context there.
Having said that, I don't think those factors outweigh the readers' desire to see it, so I am adding it, and another Obama video after it that I initially didn't include. First, here's "59 States":
Here's another very popular Obama video that I had no interest in, aside from the reporter amusingly ordering the Secret Service agent around. It's like, "Please crush my windpipe!"
Now, on to the big story this week. Tim Russert calls the whole ball of wax for Obama several hours after I did, but he gets all the credit!
While I was watching MSNBC on Tuesday night, Diana was texting me to tell me that all hell was breaking loose over at CNN. Here's Donna Brazile mixing it up with Paul Begala.
Now, Paul would have a point, except that the Clinton campaign has targeted white voters so heavily that the clear message is that they are the only votes that matter.
Here's another clip that Diana told me about. The CNN panel, led by Anderson Cooper, are being real a-holes to Lanny Davis. Now, I understand the weariness with Clintonite delusions, but it is unconscionable to treat Lanny with such disrespect.
Here's Bill Clinton arguing with an Obama mole at a rally in West Virginia.
Next is the most inevitable, obvious joke of all, "Hillary Clinton's Sunset Blvd." So obvious that I have consciously avoided making it.
I guess it was pretty well-executed. There's an unavoidable sexist undertone that I'm just not comfortable with. I do wonder who is face-down in the pool in this version. It would have been clever to have Barack Obama narrating.
Politicians do a lot of weird things to get votes, from bowling, to doing shots, to emptily demanding apologies for slavery. This next clip might be the only thing left that they haven't tried. The first one who does gets my vote.
Keith Olbermann deconstructed the Clinton campaign's narrowing definitions of electoral success on Countdown.
So many people are naysaying the Dream Ticket, saying Obama won't offer, or Hillary won't take it. Hmmm. Try saying "Nay" after this.
Brave New Films has a film about tasteless garnish and McCain pastor Rod Parsley.
I see why the guy is f'ed up, but here's my question: Is this really going to lose McCain votes? Are Americans going to get worked up about Muslim-bashing? They haven't yet.

Well, it was good to see Donna Brazile tell off Paul Begala. And she is correct - this Democratic primary has been poisonous to the party as it has pit Hillary supporters against Obama supporters. It has divided the Democrats by race and class in an ugly way. Whether or not the party can be saved for November is anyone's guess.
And, OK, that Hillary "Sunset Boulevard" video is beyond creepy.

I responded to the latest DNC fund-raising email with words not money, as follows and I encourage you to do the same.
Leave it to the people of the Democratic party to select a radical,racist, hate-filled, pandering,, corrupt, unpatriotic, terrorist-loving, smooth-talking snake oil salesman to the highest office in the land.
This country is in big trouble and we don't need a rookie President in training wheels. Where is the centrist DLC when you need them?
Thankfully he will go down big-time in the general election where the black and the ultra liberal vote is a very small percentage and the DNC can hang their heads in shame once again.
I fear for this country and if Hillary is not the nominee. as a moderate Democrat, my support will go to McCain as the lesser of two evils. A Republican President and a Democratic House and Senate will keep this country on a reasonable road.
My vote against Obama is not because of the color of his skin but the color of his heart.
PS: Howard Dean can I have a refund of all the money I contributed to your campaign?

Oh believe me I have, had all sorts of material waiting in the wings.
So, it is not the smartest man in the world, he is only a Republican because of his military background, but he will be powerless come fall.
McCain began 2001 by breaking with the new George W. Bush administration on a number of matters, including HMO reform, climate change, stem cell research and gun legislation; McCain-Feingold was opposed by Bush as well.
In May 2001, the Senator was one of only two Republicans to vote against the Bush tax cuts.
Later, when Republican Senator Jim Jeffords became an Independent, throwing control of the Senate to the Democrats, McCain defended Jeffords against "self-appointed enforcers of party loyalty." Indeed, there was speculation at the time, and in years since,about McCain himself possibly leaving the Republican Party. McCain has always adamantly denied that he ever considered doing so.
As a renegade Republican he has much appeal to moderate voters.
Obama will not get my vote in a million years.

ABC News’ Sarah Amos reports: Speaking on behalf of his wife at the annual Truman Dinner in Billings, Mont., Saturday, former President Bill Clinton assured the crowd that no matter the outcome of the Democratic nomination, his family and Hillary’s supporters would firmly stand behind the party’s nominee.
“I also wanna say, on instructions, I’ve been a Democrat all my life,” he said. “And I’ve been working in these campaigns since I was a young man. I remember what it was like in 1980, when the people who didn’t win tore our party up. And I’m here to tell ya that however these last states come out, my candidates, our family and our supporters will be here to get a victory in November for the Democrats. It is too important. We’ve got to turn this country around. And we will do it.”
The crowd rose in a standing ovation at the sentiment…
Don’t you just love the way the Clintons calibrate their diction depending on where they are in the country?
Anyway, note that Mr. Clinton made this grand pronouncement “on instructions.”
Hillary finally realizes she can’t win and she is now running to be Mr. Obama’s Vice President.

PROGRESSIVE REVIEW 1999 - Jerry Zeifman was the Democrats’ general counsel chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee during the Watergate investigation. In an article for the Wall Street Journal he reviews HRC’s performance as a staff member:
– She violated House and committee rules by disclosing confidential information to unauthorized persons.
– A number of the legal procedures she recommended were ethically flawed
– In one written legal memorandum, she advocated denying President Nixon representation by counsel.
– She proposed that the committee should neither 1) hold any hearings with or take the depositions of any live witnesses, nor 2) conduct any original investigation of Watergate, bribery, tax evasion, or any other possible impeachable offense of President Nixon. Instead, the committee should rely on prior investigations conducted by other committees and agencies.
– She advocated that the official rules of the House be amended to deny members of the committee the right to question witnesses.
– Zeifman decided that he could not recommend her for any position of public or private trust.

Before voting for Obama read this book.
America Alone: The End of the World As We Know It
I was never an Obama supporter and now I am even more afraid of him. This book is not an anti Obama book, but it's eye opening. Looking at Obamas associations..ie Auchi..Odingo and the list goes on. Ask yourself who will Obama appoint to those high ranking positions in our government?? It will be a slow process.
Hillary we want you to win this thing but if not we will vote for Mccain!! No doubt.
American people...educate yourselves on where this man Obama came from.
We take our freedoms for granted. Not worth the risk to me.
Go Hillary!! Go Mccain!! Protect our country.
