Happy Father's Day, Mr. Presidents!
Jun 15th 2008 3:16PM
Filed Under:ePresident Bush, Barack Obama, John McCain, Featured Stories, 2008 President, Ken Layne's Outrage
This is that special time of year when, as a cheap afterthought to Mother's Day, we sort of vaguely celebrate that other parent who may or may not be around. We call it Father's Day, and our nation's various recent presidential people aren't very good at it, either. The dad who best represents lousy parenting and America's image-over-substance marketing economy is, of course, our greatest president, Father Ronald Reagan. Married, divorced and married again, Reagan fathered children by two different women and adopted a boy with his first wife, shortly before he divorced her. The children who survived to adulthood described him as mysterious, distant, detached and cruel, while his personal diaries show absolutely no affection for Maureen, Michael, Patti or Ron Jr.
The Reagan child who turned that distant relationship with President Reagan into a full-time career -- adopted son and right-wing talk show performer Michael Reagan -- wrote in one of his autobiographies that "we were raised by nannies and maids." Th-th-that's not ch-change we can be-believe in!
Only one of our current presidential candidates can claim the "Reagan Legacy" when it comes to being a terrible husband, father and human being -- and that's maverick John McCain.
Not only did McCain dump his newly crippled wife and her two children that he adopted along with the child he fathered with her, but he also was a notorious womanizer while they were still married -- in fact, he wouldn't bother to formally divorce her until he found a very young, blonde and pretty multi-millionaire gal named Cindy who lived in a state where he could run for Congress, with Cindy's family riches.
Last time McCain ran for president, eight years ago, his own campaign staff had to tell him to quit flying around the country on lobbyist corporate jets with a young pretty blonde lobbyist who happened to look just like a (younger) version of his second wife. His daughter Meghan decided to give him a "Father's Day president" of registering as a Republican last week, which of course is absolutely meaningless in a general election.
Barack Obama is reportedly a good dad to his daughters -- he is even married to his wife, which is rare for politicians these days. But his own father managed to be more distant than even Ronald Reagan could imagine!
Obama's dad was a Kenyan economist who was already married with several children when he won a scholarship to the University of Hawaii, where he married another woman -- a young student from Kansas -- and fathered Barack Junior before abandoning both for a scholarship at Harvard, where he married yet another wife. Barack Junior never saw his dad again, except for a single visit when little Barack was 10 years old. Th-th-th-at's n-n-not ch-ch-change we c-c-can believe in.
Oh, and what about what's his name, George Bush Junior, the guy who is still, inexplicably, the president of America? There was this one time when he drunkenly tried to beat his dad (George Bush Senior) to death.
Happy father's day, everybody!

Happy Father's day! Set a good example, make sure to go out and vote. Take your kid (s) with you; make a big deal of it

Surprise, surprise, looks like the "experts" are picking Obama. Of course most of them democrats. They are already trying to make it look like a hopless case for McCain, the same way they did Hillary. She won and they still gave it to him. Didn't work on public during primaries and certainly won't work in November election.

but Ken darling, you forgot to mention that Barack Obama has since made up for his lack of a real father by having many, many mentors over the years who were just like fathers to him, and instilled their beliefs into him.
Let's see
Rev. Wright
William Ayers
Louis Farrakhan
and let's not forget that "image" of an African Father Barack has tried all his life to please.
And those are just the ones we know about!
George W. Bush went to great lengths to please a distant father. Imagine the lengths Barack will go to please an imaginary one.
All in all this is the hateful kind of blog we expect from Layne.
Re Reagan, they were movie stars and later rich people, hate to tell ya this Kennyboy but that's how those people raise their kids.
I grazed the article about Bush to read about how he almost beat his father to death, but I just saw where he challenged Daddy Bush (at age 15) go go "mano a mano". I admit I did not waste my time reading the entire thing so I could be wrong there.
McCain, well it does sound rather dastardly, but it is something that millions of men do every year.
It's also something that happens unfortunately to couples after one loses their physical attractiveness. He had come back from being a POW to find his once beautiful wife crippled...gee I guess that could put a strain on a marriage.
It's also interesting the the former wife speaks well of him, so do the children. He married a beautiful rich woman who despite the rumors that he is Marquis de Sade with her, seems to love him and speaks well of him, oh and despite that she is the one with all the money and could have easily unloaded him, stays with him...let's see the "other women" seem to be okay with him. Maybe John's got something going on that women like? I know that must drive the libboys crazy (oh and using Wonkette as your source? come on that almost discredits you instantly).
I am glad Barack Obama is a good Daddy. I mean what kind of bonding experience is better than taking your two young girls to church every Sunday to be taught how they have been wronged by the country they live in. By all means, teach them how their distant ancestors were slaves (even though Daddy's weren't). Teach them that white people are the enemy. Please produce another bitter generation. They can be just like Mommy when they grow up.
Mr. Layne, I don't think you have the qualifications after blogging a page full of lies and innuendo to call anyone else a terrible human being.

>>>THIS #3 ARTICLE OF THE 14TH AMENDMENT COULD BE USED AGAINST OBAMA FOR HIS LINKS TO WRIGHT, REZKO, AYRES, FARAKAN ETC WHICH WOULD DISQUALIFY HIM FROM THIS PRESIDENTIAL RACE!!!!
Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights
3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

How dare you call Obama Mr. President? He has not been elected you pond scum and with the help of American voters he never will be.
I'd like to thrash your hide, you moron.
Susan5:08PMJun 15th 2008
How can you call Obama a good father?
A good father would never have taken his children to that racist, hate-mongering church or had them baptized by that sick old pervert Reverend Wright.
If that is your idea of a good father I hope you never have any children.

Way to go, David G.
Obama has my pick of the worst father ever. What kind of pig takes his daughters to a racist church where some pervert old man is dancing around the stage spewing hate and anti-American sentiments?
My husband fought and was wounded in Viet Nam. He was not a prisoner of war but he was shot through the face and spend 8 months in the hospital. When he came home we were like strangers.
Unless you have been through it you have no idea what it is like to come home and feel you don't know your spouse anymore and that your spouse doesn not know you.
My husband and I also divorced a year or two after he came home.
People should not judge the mindset of somebody who has returned from spending almost 6 years as a prisoner of war.
So he divorced his wife? That is their business, nobody else's.

Gee susan, I guess millions of dads are bad fathers for having taken their children to mass said by pedophile priests, or go old neocon dads who took their children to church to hear the pastro rage against catholics and jews. If they didn't leave their churches right away, are they racists or perverts too?
As a 30 year Navy Man I'm very proud of John McCain, but being willing to die for your country does not automatically make you the best qualified candidate. If so, this country would have had all ex-military presidents.
monap496:03PMJun 15th 2008
Wow - Obama a great father - I guess a good father should expose his children to all aspects of life - racism at church, hatred at church, anti-white sentiment at church...now that's a Dad worth sending a card to.
By the way, how come when we had Mother's Day in May no one wrote an article about the fact that the first Mother to run for President was in the primaries - I guess just an oversight - nothing sexist there.

Dear Susan you are very mean spirited with your rants. I personally think Obama is a great dad and husband. I believe you are envious of that because no man has probably ever shown you love and respect in the same breath?? That is purely speculation, but I believe from your post that you are very angry and full of rage for men in general.
Any man, woman of child that would support Mcshame has to hate family values. His idea of a plan for the economy is follow the Bush tax cuts and keep them in place until hell freezes over. Please go see a professional to help you deal with your anger issues they stand out above your negtive posts.
It seems like you just don't give a damn about the American economy or it's image around the world?? A good place for rage is the war in Iraq why not enlist in the military and use that rage in active combat and while you're at it please send one of our children home. OBAMA is getting my vote for president because he cares about ordinary people, even people like you who attack him with a vengence for no real reason.
A normal post is I personally don't like _____ because ___, not the bashing you presented. I actually think you should see a mental health professional to help you deal with your rage issues. Have a peaceful day.

I am mean spirited??? HA HA HA HA HA! I am not the one who stood in the pews for 20 years listening to an idiot rant about whites and America.
My disgust for Obama taking his daughters to someplace like that has nothing to do with any man in my life. If you are going for your degree in psychology, "Sweetie", you just flunked out on that one!
There are a million reasons why I would never vote for Obama but this article is about fathers. The guy who wrote this article is dogging on other fathers but says Obama is the best of the ones he discussed.
I gave him my opinion.
As a parent I taught my children to look past a person's nationality to the person within. I would never have subjected them to the likes of Reverend Wright.
I don't know how you can call that mean-spirited. You can stick up for Obama all you want - I have my own opinion.
A parent should put their own feelings aside in an effort to lead their children on a better path, not try to poison their minds while they are young.

So McShame is a womanizer also. I can believe that because his personality lends him to look like a little bully.
I personally will not vote for a republican with a bad temper or a non existent platform. He is a puppet and he represents a 3rd term for Bush.
Vote for real CHANGE not political word play changes that mean nothing. McShame has no plan and I don't think he has a chance of becoming president of the USA. Americans will let the smoke clear from the advertising and rhetoric and they will be on the OBAMA train towards a brighter and better future that will beneift all American households. Vote OBAMA for president of the USA 2008.
===================================================
Oh, My God! Are you the concerned Americn who just bashed me for saying anything about Obama and how I must have "issues" and need a shrink?
How most people say very politely blah blah blah.
Yet here you are calling Senator McCain names like "McShame" and that he must be a womanizer because he "looks" like a bully?
You are a typical Obama supporter. Always with the double speak.
You should be ashamed. John McCain is a man with sons serving in our military and who was held as a prisoner of war for almost 6 years.
What have you done for this country?
What has Obama done for this country? Hmmm - Ayers, Wright, Farrakhan, Rezko. Nope, nothing for this country. Just hanging around with his subversive, anti-American friends!

To be honest, how can a father be considered good, if he has been bringing his children to a church that spews HATE?

My point exactly. I couldn't agree more. I would have taken my children's hands and ran like hell away from that church.
