MoveOn to Fold Its 527

In a symbolic move that is meant to carry on the "people-powered" movement that has fueled millions of donations to Barack Obama's presidential campaign and helped down-ticket Dems via ActBlue and other fund-raisers, MoveOn.org's 527 group, MoveOn Voter Fund, will be shut down.
While the MoveOn.org PAC is an FEC registered political action group, such groups as these are limited to $5000 per year cap on individual contributions and cannot take corporate donations. The Voter Fund by contrast could take unregulated corporate donatons. While still active on paper, this 527 has actually been inactive for a couple of years.
From the letter sent to MoveOn members on Friday:
For almost ten years, we've worked together to change American politics. Millions of us have collaborated to build a new progressive moment, catalyzed by the Internet and motivated by our belief that the country we love deserves better.
Now, in Barack Obama, we have a Presidential candidate who has based his campaign on precisely that kind of new politics-a people-driven politics focused on the outside-of-the-beltway consensus around Iraq, climate change, and health care, not the gridlock in Washington.
Ironically, MoveOn (and a large chunk of the left blogosphere - including this writer) is a little peeved at Obama right now after his statement on the FISA compromise bill. It's expected that he'll vote for the bill when it comes up for the Senate vote this week while hoping that the telecom immunity clause somehow magically disappears.
One can call this a bad week for Obama with both right and left trashing him last week, or call it a good one - if you're pissing everyone off you must be doing something right. Time will tell...

When do the FEC corruption hearings start...soon I hope

Obama Lobbyists.
As he gives up public funding for his campaign, Sen. Barack Obama is reaching out to new sources, ncluding
Washington insiders whose influence he has vowed to end.
Obama is now using lists of contributors to Democratic congressional chairmen, primarily lobbyists of both parties. One recipient of a letter signed by Obama is a Republican lobbyist who has contributed to senior
Democratic Reps. John Dingell of Michigan and Charlie Rangel of New York, not out of ideological affinity but to keep their doors open.
Is there an honest bone in The Obama Boys skinney little body?

Obama has already shown during the primaries how corrupt he is. He's no winner now nor will he be in Nov. The majority of the voters are beginning to see through him & believe me...he is not a priority. Quite the opposite. He is not remotely what America needs. No back Barack.

I don't understand why some Obama followers seem excited about Obama turning down public financing. Do they not understand that it goes against Obama's whole screw the old Washington special interests
platform?
Now he can continue receiving monies from big bundlers, lobbyists, and secret private contributions...
Anyway, he's having a horrible week. Headscarves, Sinclair, FISA, NAFTA, Campaign Finance, make believe Disney-esque campaign seals, Winnie the Pooh foreign policy strategies, Odinga in D.C., Father
Pheleger returns to Sabina, they bring a knife we'll bring a gun, low fundraising month, media starting to turn on him, wife says Obama is sweet and "pahtetic." Obama telling Hill supporters to "get over it," making them rage more and go to the media in droves...Also, why is Obama still accepting money from Rezko's boys still? And why is Obama endorsing a white republican man over a black woman who supposedly has the same policy ideas as Obama?
BLEGH! He's a fraud guys...I've been saying it for months. He has a flimsy record--voting for Dick Cheney energy bill, voted "present" 130 times...in the U.S. Senate for ONE year before he announced his candidacy...we are all just going on his WORDS, and we know that even those were not even his...guys, please wake up soon. He's everything and nothing at the same time, and it is Obama who will say anything to win.

Well, you're pissing me off. You can't express yourself without crude language, and you apparently don't even realize it is crude. Why not a few "f-bombs" too?

If the 87,000,000 remains in the Treasury, what is the complaint? That money can be used for other purposes.
C. Jenkins11:58PMJun 22nd 2008
Anyone thinking Hillary Clinton or John McCain will win the Presidency is delusional and needs to stop "flexing their muscles." America has made its choice.
John McCain is as old as dirt with the mental capacity of a gnat.
C. Jenkins12:09AMJun 23rd 2008
Katherine,
Your comments are riddled with fabrications. Senator Obama would never tell the Hillary Supporters to "get over it."
In the next couple of days I will post all Bills sponsored by or co-sponsored by Senator Obama and I intend to copy and paste all over ever comment you make including Bill number (597) for increased Breast Cancer Funding, reduce infant mortality (707), full disclosure of all entities receiving federal funds (2590), improve mine safety (2803), etc..
C. Jenkins12:18AMJun 23rd 2008
I also intend to post the over 100 Inventions in use today that were invented by Black Men and Women such as: Blood Plasma, Pacemaker, Urinalysis Machine, Clothes Dryer, Cell Phone, Refrigerator, Stair
Climbing Wheel Chair, Helicopter and Guitar, only to name a few.
The use of racial slurs will no longer be tolerated by the Obama Supporters.
Katherine12:20AMJun 23rd 2008
C. Jenkins. For as much as you seem positive McCain will lose...this PUMA is just as positive that Obama will lose.

When one black is accused wrongfully, so are we all!
When one black is threatened, so are we all!
Senator Obama has refused to take Public Funding of approximately 87,000,000 which means this money can be used to fund other much needed programs.
To be chastized unmercifully for this generous act is beyond the realm of belief.
Since my son was just today diagnosed as "Cancer Free", I will work to have the cancer research funding increased.
Thank God for Senator Obama and each and every one of his supporters.

As Obama has hijacked the DNC for his own purposes the MoveOn "Move" appears to be one of two things.
1. They have discovered that The Obama Boy is not the "man" for the job or
2. He has hijacked MoveOn for his own campaign..to heck with the 50 state initiative.

C. Jenkins:
"fabrications" Where?
Here is Obama saying "get over it"
http://clintondems.com/2008/06/get-over-it/
"If women take a moment to realize that on every issue important to women, John McCain is not in their corner, that would help them GET OVER IT.”
Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif., a longtime Clinton supporter, did not like those last three words — “Get over it.” She found them dismissive, off-putting.
“Don’t use that terminology,” Watson told Obama
---------------
C. Jenkins:
I've already seen the list of bills sponsored by or co-sponsored by Obama.
That's Obama signing onto a bill. It's what senators do for one another to show support. It's highly political and it's usually a favor. That's not work.
_____________
Also, what do you mean by racial slurs? WE will no longer tolerate being called racists all the time. Not everything is should be racialized.
You know, you say that you agree with Pastor Wright, and that he said God Damn America because it was in the bible. Show me where it says "God Damn America" in the bible. Show me some kind of proof that the United States Gov. invented the AIDS virus.
--Also, remember you brought up gangsters, and rap music and welfare...out of the blue, thinking that that's all I would think about black people...? I think you really do think that that is all that white people think about black folks. That's sort of sad.
--AND: why would you post inventions by black people? And where were there any racial slurs?? What are you talking about?
OhReally12:39AMJun 23rd 2008
Hey Katherine..C Jenkins has a great idea..When the Obama campaign implodes, which it will...Hillary can stand up at the convention, accept the nomination and be handed $87 million for pain and suffering LOL
C. Jenkins12:39AMJun 23rd 2008
Katherine,
You have used the correct wording for "PUMA." Last two letters are all telling.

Katherine,
Just when did Senator Obama tell the Hillary supporters to "get over it?" Those words have never come from his mouth and never would.
If you've got proof of that statement alone, bring it on.
OhReally12:44AMJun 23rd 2008
C.jenkins..no one really cares about inventions; Obama doesn't want you to talk about is voting record, it is forbidden, and the 87 million comes from the $3 general election check- off box on the tax return. No it can not be used for other purposes.
The racist BS is getting really old btw.

Way to go Senator Obama, DNC and Moveon.org.
This how we change America for the better. It's now up to us to fund this campaign with our money. No more lobbyist dictating to the polititians. Their voice has now been silenced.
We now control our own destiny.
Senator Obama has shown us he will bring about the changes we can be proud of and getting him elected should be our priority.
