Andrew, you ask the wrong question. Why don't you ask the American people if THEY sanction the use of interrogation methods that do not cause physical injuries. This includes water-boarding and many other techniques that panic, frighten, degrade, stress or offend. Most Americans will SUPPORT these methods and do NOT consider them torture. Forcing someone to stand for four hours or to loose sleep? Come on, let’s get real. Stop using the word torture to encompass everything. You do us a disservice by using "leading" questions. I'm sure someone considers eating brocolli toture, too.

Totally agree with the above poster. Most Americans do support whatever it takes to protect and defend this country (except Obama). You really should be more objective in wording your polls.

I SUBSCRIBE TO THE THEORY YOU MUST "FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE" AND WONDER HOW A "CIVILIZED SOCIETY" COULD SANCTION THE USE OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN WEARING BOMBS TO GO INTO CROWDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE AND BLOW THEM UP? OUR SOCIETY CAN'T QUITE FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIGHT THIS WITHOUT UTILYZING SOME HARSH METHODS. WE ARE FIGHTING A DIFFERENT TYPE ENEMY THAN EVER IN OUR HISTORY--GOD HELP US. I subscribe to the theory that you must "FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE". The "intellect" of the people we are fighting is so far from our beliefs it is hard to get your mind around their way of thinking. Sending women and children into crowds with bombs around their bodies------UNBELIEVABLE. GOD HELP US!

Let's see - do we care what they sanctioned?

I have not heard that anybody was beaten, their bones broken, etc. We need to be able to protect our country against these whack job Islamic people. Didn't they cut off reporters' and post it on worldwide tv, etc.

So you know what, the only people I know of who have any sympathy for the terrorists are terrorists - well, and Barrack Obama and his flying monkeys.

You did great. Exactly what most Americans think. We need to do whatever we can to combat terror.

We are too soft on crime in this country and look at where we are - pretty soon there will be more criminals than there are the rest of us.

Torture is described and defined by the Geneva convention. Our country should adhere to these principles. The use of torture does not work. It does not result in good intell. I believe our country should not engage in practices that take away from us doing the right thing, being the good guys, or lowing our selves to the level of the terrorist.

The people who were tortured were by and large innnocent people captured by bounty hunters for a reward. Torturing them does nothing to make the United States more safe and indeed, flares righteous anger in anyone sensible thereby making us less safe.

The only problem is.. the people captured and tortured here had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with 9/11. I haven't forgotten 9/11. My brother-in-law's brother died on 9/11. What we are doing is creating another 9/11, against another group of innocents.
