Unity: Barack, Hillary Live!

Well, that went as expected. It will be interesting to see what the spin on this is. It was a feel-good event, and Hillary spoke beautifully, but I want to see what she's like stumping by herself. I bet she really lets McCain have it then.

2:02 Ah, no Dream Ticket. Yet!

2:01 Can you imagine sitting next to him on a plane? "Can we get some extra peanuts here? Yes, We Can!"

1: 55 We will recruit an army of teachers? "Sing you're A-B-C's, you maggot!"

1: 51 "...they can do it better than the boys, and they can do it in heels!" That was a little clumsy. Hillary looks like she's having fun. "I still don't know how she does it in heels." Maybe we can get him a pair.

1: 47 I want Barack Obama to speak at my son's birthday party. "He has worked tirelessly to remove every diaper, to scatter every pot and pan, to make sure that no wall, and no piece of furniture, has to go without random crayon markings.

Aha! Live video! Thanks to Diana.

1: 43 They're chanting, "Thank You, Hillary!" That's nice.

1: 40 Barack just passed Hillary's "Jedi-in-Chief" test. He won't hesitate to use The Force when necessary.

1: 38 Hillary just addressed all of those McCain switchers. Hope they're paying attention.

1: 34 McCain and Bush are "two sides of the same coin, and it doesn't amount to a whole lot of change." Good one.

1: 34 I missed a bunch more, but the real show, for me at least, is when Obama speaks. Will he announce the Dream Ticket today? I doubt it, but maybe he'll get caught up in the moment and just blurt it out!

1: 26 My computer is buffering. Dammit. She's talking to McCain and the Republicans, talking about how they had hoped she and Barack wouldn't join forces.

1:24 ...and we're pandering...

1:22 Here we go! Ken Hall, he was the guy in suspenders. Probably the mayor.

Update:I'm looking for an embeddable player, but for now, click here to go to a live feed.

1:17 Some guy who looks like "Balki" from "Perfect Strangers" is watering his ear. Step off, Bronson Pinchot!

1:14 I missed a minute there, so I don't know who this guy in the suspenders is. He's a lifelong Republican, he voted for McCain in the primary, but says he may vote For the Democrat in November.

The McCain campaign has scheduled a 2pm conference call "with former Governor Jane Swift to discuss Barack Obama's event today."They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I ask you to look at this picture, taken as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama boarded his campaign plane this morning on the way to Unity, NH, and tell me you don't see terror-stricken Republicans scrambling to get off of the dusty streets, ducking into general stores, fleeing through rattling saloon doors.

I spoke at length, last night, with a high-level source in the Clinton campaign, and one thing he expressed to me was that the chatter among GOP insiders is coming from their teeth – as in, an Obama/Clinton ticket is their worst nightmare. I tend to agree, with the possible exception of a McCain/Anybody ticket. Also, even though I already have the Clinton campaign on the record on this, I thought I would double-check (for the "Den-ver!" dead-enders), and no, Hillary will not run as an independent.

You can see the rest of yesterday's coverage, plus some more pictures from today, after the jump, and check back here later for more updates.
The Obama campaign has sent out the final details on the candidate's first joint campaign appearance with Senator Hillary Clinton.
CHICAGO, IL- Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama will hold a "Unite for Change" Rally this Friday in Unity, New Hampshire. Both candidates received exactly 107 votes in the western New Hampshire town in the primary. See below for important event details regarding ticketing and parking.
Full text of the press release follows the jump. There's one detail that is omitted here, and that is whether or not Barack Obama will announce Hillary Clinton as his selection for Vice President.

This comes on the heels of Barack Obama's appeal to donors, Wednesday, to help pay down Hillary's campaign debt, and a reported meet 'n greet today between Obama and Hillary's big donors. There's magic in the air!

Ordinarily, I'm not a betting man, but one of my readers issued a challenge that I couldn't just ignore. Since tomorrow is so fraught with symbolism, I have a feeling in me bones, so I'd like to give my readers, and fellow writers, a chance to get in on this. To find out why I'm so sure there will be a Dream Ticket, just click the words Dream Ticket.
Update: I spoke with a well-placed source in Hillary Clinton's campaign, who told me a couple of interesting things. He said Obama will definitely not be picking a VP just to win a state, and that the short list now includes Hillary, Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, and maybe Chuck Hagel. I've got a good feeling about this.

He also said, as I have, that Obama is doing so surprisingly well against McCain that he can pretty much pick his own ticket, but that the longer the choice takes, the better it is for Hillary.

Also, here's video of Bayh telling Andrea Mitchell today that he would say yes if asked to be VP.

If Hillary Clinton is not selected as Barack Obama's VP, I have agreed to ink my face, for 1 day, with a reasonable facsimile of the "Ron Paul R3volution" logo, and if she is, my opponent will wear the design of my choosing. The loser is required to provide photographic evidence of public display.

Here are the two designs. If you want in on the action, just write a comment with your vote, will he or won't he. You're all on the honor system. Once Obama announces his choice for VP, the losers must ink the next full business day, and email me the proof at TCTommychristopher@gmail.com.
