McCain Touts GI Bill. Skipped Vote.

Or he was against it before he was for it. Or something.
JohnnyMac, speaking at a town hall meeting touts the new educational benefits in the new GI Bill championed by Senator Jim Webb (D-VA). The bill passed the Senate in May by a vote of 75-22. Senator McCain skipped that vote (ostensibly because his own counter bill went nowhere), but not before slamming those who supported it:
Republican John McCain said Thursday that Democrat Barack Obama had no right to criticize McCain's position on military scholarships because the Illinois senator did not serve in uniform.
"And I will not accept from Senator Obama, who did not feel it was his responsibility to serve our country in uniform, any lectures on my regard for those who did," the Arizona senator said in a harshly worded statement issued Thursday.
But now I guess it's all good...

Denise....This is old news I think you can report on something better then this. We all know you are for DRAMA Obama, so who cares... Obama has more agaist him then mccain.

Why couldn't McCain have just voted for this GI Bill? After serving in Afghanistan and/or Iraq, our veterans deserve what is promised to them when they return - an education or whatever services they me need or want. Oh wait, he said it was too generous.

Yes I agree Obama is a COWARD as he wants to run the military but was to scared to serve
mark5:54PMJun 28th 2008
Also everyone look up Obamas actual senate voting record He voted to try and make it legal to burn and stomp on our great American flag Yes its on his official voting record so Vets he voted to let people stomp and burn the very flag that you fought for and some of your friends died for

Obama is destined to become one of the greatest presidents America ever had, and what we need now to save our contry from ruin is a great president. John McCain was the worst of his class, ws not a good pilot, crashed his plane and was captured, and end tried to committ suicide while in captivity and eventually broke and confessed. This is not what Americans are made of. Obama is risking his life big time and that is courage big time. Because McCain is a liar, he can't remember what lies he told, a problem that liars have to deal with. At any rate I am really prouid of the replublicans for choosing McCain because Obama will win by the largest margin in history.

I am a retired military veteran of 22 years. You yellow bellow cowards dont have a right to criticize John Mccain or any veteran who fought to protect this great country ( even you ). Blow it our your ear muffin cake.
FOr anyone left out there with any brain cells, you better wake up before its too late. Take it from someone who has seen what terrorist's do first hand and up close. We dont need a President who will "talk" to them. We need strong defense. ITs all these killers know. Talking to them doesnt work. They convert your or kill you, even you the liberal pigs welcoming them. WAKE UP

So McCain punts on voting for benefits for vets, then won't accept any 'lectures' by Obama just because Obama wasn't in the armed services? Here's news for ya, Big John, neither was I, nor were the vast majority of your fellow citizens. If you won't accept any 'lectures' from any of us, you have no business being President.
McCain = DISGRACE

I served in the military also and I think Mccain is a political coward. He wants to use his status in the military as a POW, as a right of passage on foreign policy and national security. But Mccain was not a policy-maker in the military. His military service don't give him anything more than his disability and purple heart pay. That's it!! He was a Navy pilot who constantly screwed up and cost the lives of over 150 sailors. In the Army, we call that type of soldier a "F*ckup" and try to exit his ass out as quick as possible. In fact, he would have been imprisoned for it.
Obviously you haven't been following this election very well. Mccain has not supported the veterans of this country. If anyone is paying lip service, it's him. He voted against this veteran's bill because he held the opinion that it was too generous to the veterans. Those very same soldiers that he is asking to sacrifice for this country and continue to fight an endless war. I was a soldier. I know they are tired, even though not one of them will ever say so. To do that would subject them to a possible courts martial. Look at what the Army just did to the gay soldier that "told" that he was gay. But now Mccain wants to take credit for this veteran's bill passing. That's BS!! If Mccain was in the Army, the soldiers would probably hang him for treason.
John2:53AMJun 29th 2008
I also served in the Military and think McCain is a flip flopin fool....Im going to vote for Obama and whether he served or not makes no difference to me he has the welfare of our Soldiers at heart...unlike Mr. "I forgot" McCain.
Were Your Ever Tortured?4:18AMJun 29th 2008
It's easy for all of you who even served in the armed forces to say that John McCain was a coward or disgrace, but were you injured and tortured for days? I bet not, you like the rest, are bold to talk the talk, but if you were in the same predicament as McCain was, you would break like glass!
So unless, you experienced the same level of torture from warfare, then like factsfromyou said, you don't have any right to criticize McCain's military service!
John McCain 2008!

The CORONATION of "Barry" Obama from Chicago...
Sounds like something out of Mad Magazine. Come to think of it..."Barry" is a slightly darker version of the pale, freckle-faced, skinny kid that once graced the cover of this classic magazine. Yeah...the kid with the big ears and that silly grin on his face. The one that coined the phrase: "What, me worry?" His name was "Alfred E. Neuman."
Substitute the cover photo on that same magazine today (which only collectors will have now) with a grinning, toothy, big-eared "Barry" from Chicago and write "CHANGE" under it.
Actually, take all of the controversial proclamations this guy has made, along with those of his 20 year pastor (now "under a bus" somewhere in Chicago) quotes from his 2 books, quotes from his debates, interviews and cozy speeches in private meetings (ie: the "guns and religion" thing in San Francisco) etc. and that would fill up an entire Special Edition of a modern-day Mad Magazine, wouldn't it?
Get the picture? Why hasn't someone out there thought of this already?

do you have to LIE to get your agenda across? He touted the THE NEW EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS not the GI Bill.
mike8:39AMJun 29th 2008
If you valued integrety in reporting you would not lie. Mr. McCain touted the NEW EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS not the entire GI Bill as your headline sooooo lyingly says. It was part of his bill also. Don't worry though, you have a couple idiots out there that will jump in your blindwagon.
