Barack Obama now says he does not equate "watching fireworks" on the 4th of July with patriotism. If he is elected, just how much does he intend to change about America as we know it? Being patriotic says nothing about your politcal beliefs it has to do with an idea. Both parties want the same for the USA to make it a better place for Americans, they just have different ways of doing it. I am a democrat and just because I disagree with the current government does not make me unpatriotic!!!! I hate that about conservative people thinking that if you disagree with the government mean you dont love America. I love my country and I want to take it back and make it Great again.

A Patriot? If that means following our political leaders without question like Bushites, then no I'm not a patriot. But, if you define Patriot to someone who loves his country, and is willing to even run for political office to make this a better place for everyone here, then yes I'm a Patriot. If a Patriot is someone who will devote him or herself to caring about family, church, and country, then yes I'm a Patriot.

How can almost 90% say they are patriots? Look at those who bow down to the special interest groups? They want popularity instead of what is best for the country. I would like to see it broken down to see how many PETA members, and other groups who want to force everyone else to follow what they believe call that patriotism. How many war protesters claim to be patriots. I served the country for over twenty years, and I served because my father, a patriot, reminded me that live or die, I had a debt to our forefathers. I chose to do that by service. Now everyone wants to change their beliefs when this country was established. Is turning your back on what this country was built on patriotism. I would think not.
