nobama shouldn't have made such a dumb ass promise in the first place!

NOT allowing for change means doing the same wrong thing over and over. Learning from mistakes is critical. Look at Bush, he can't allow for change and he has ruined the world with his stubborn stupidity!

he is still talking about leaving...if 16 months is the sticking point?...so 20 months is a safety concern and it takes 24 to keep at least one more soldier and American civilian alive as they sensibly get out and start some serious Diplomacy is not ok with you?...

THIS GUY, SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM ACTUALLY REMEMBERING HIS PAST. He claims he brought welfare reform to Illinois yet his record shows he was never for welfare reform. He repeatedly stated he would only take public funds to support his campaign and that too was a lie.
This guy is a train wreck, waiting to be foisted into power and that will be a real bad day for America.

you will all see he will change anything to get to be president. religion, and eventually from black to white if necessary.

Throughout the primary race Obama lambasted Hillary for her views (& Bill's). Now that he is the "presumptive nominee" he is changing his tune on various things. He's doing what he has accused others of. Now that he's been "selected" he's agreeing with what he first criticized. This guy doesn't stand for anything because he doesn't know himself. I don't think he knows much of anything about the issues. (I guess that was why he voted "present" the vast majority of the time; he was not able to comprehend what he was to make a decision on.) And this is someone who should be our next president? I think not. He doesn't recall what he says from one day to the next (or what his puppeteers tell him to say).
Obama, the DNC & the Dem traitors are creating a 3-ring circus & will be the laughing stock of the election. Turning the Dem convention into a rock star show is the most ridiculous yet. It's sounding more like desperation. I've been a Dem all my life, but I cannot condone their tactics or "selection."
You people had better wake up & see this phony for what he is. Let him GO OUT in a blaze of glory in Nov. Like fireworks.....poof....& he's gone...back to Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia or wherever he was born. Our president he should not & cannot be!

We are winning in Iraq and now the Dems are scared.

Obama keeps criticizing McCain and then as the winds shift, he changes his mind to catch any votes in the wind. He has no knowledge of any foreign policies and his election would damage the country.
Susan2:02PMJul 7th 2008
He only made that promise to win votes in the first place. People were stupid to believe him and vote for him based on that promise. They should have looked beneath his promises to his character (or lack of character). Then people would have known he couldn't be trusted to keep any promise he made.
Now the hard-core Obama supporters are trying to spin it that he is changing his mind because the circumstances have changed.
But they haven't.
In several debates he state CLEARLY that he was removing troops no matter what the situation on the ground. He also stated that HE would not be working for the military, that THEY would be working for him.
That should have shown people right then what a jackass he is.
He is so egotistical he thinks we are all stupider than him and will be fooled by his bull crap.
Americans are waking up now and he will be having a hard time getting any votes come November.

WAKE UP, AMERICA! WAKE UP, DEMOCRATS! IT'S NOT TOO LATE UNTIL THE LAST DELEGATE VOTES AT THE CONVENTION IN DENVER!
WE NEED HILLARY!

typical obama. he cheats and lies hes way into
being the nominee with false promises. he is
only showing his true dispicable self right now.
hillary truly was robbed. many people voted for
him based on his false statements. hillary should
be the nominee, not the snake in the grass.

AS SUGGESTED, OBAMA IS A CUNNING,BUT CHARISMATIC CHAMELEON. HIS CREDIBILITY IS ZERO. HOWEVER, HE WILL REDEFINE HIMSELF DAILY FOR POLITICAL EXPEDIENCY.

Never take a candidate's remarks as unchanging and set in stone. They don't know what they will do until they get into office and learn more. Americans ought to know that by now. George W. Bush said he would not engage in nation building, but that is exactly what he has done. We have learned since then that lying and deception are his strong points.

I absolutely have NO PROBLEM with refining the steps it would take to withdraw from this unbelievably complex mess ("the biggest disaster in U.S. foreign policy history" I read time and time again), if that would be necessary. No one says that it will. Incidentally, so many experts predicted pretty much this scenerio would happen should we go to war with Iraq. Bush ignored them all. I'm just surprised the Congress was too politically afraid to stand up against it (until now). Wait... their was one senator who didn't vote for the war and, in fact, outlined exactly what he thought would happen if we did go (with much specificity): oh yeah, Barack Obama.
Virtually everything he predicted to be the dangers of starting this have come to pass. Compared to all this, the fact that someone would actually squabble over this question (flexibility over withdrawal is only smart, by the way)is ridiculous.

As I see it, before Obama made ANY idle promises regarding Irqu, he should have made a trip there himself. Once there he could have taken the opportunity to talk with the commanders and had a first hand look at the conditions on the ground. Talk with the troups, because if anybody knows the true behind the scens story it's our troups. In doing so he would of had the creditability to address the issue with some intelligence. Unstead he is now back peddeling and trying to justify/"refining" his position.
It all boils down to his lack of experience. Americans want our troups home. Enough blood and treasure has been spent on this war. And for a "presumptive nominee" to be flip flopping at this late stage of the game is nothing short of appalling and clearly indicates he DOES NOT have the experience needed to be commander in chief. PLAIN AND SMIPLE!
For me his positions on many issues have changed all to often. As an Independent, sitting on the fence for a while now,it has become clear I can not support the democrate nominee. He just does not have the experience our Country needs at this criticle time.
AMEN!
