'Love' - New McCain Ad
It's a good ad.
But it has a lot in it.
It's a truly a positive contrast ad. It notes the difference between touchy-feel-good rhetoric and the tough results life that John McCain has lived. It's exit line is "don't hope for a better life, vote for one."
As a subtle contrast ads, it poses unasked questions about Obama:
-- Has Obama ever sacrificed for America the way McCain has?
-- Has Obama ever tackled an unpopular issue?
-- Has Obama ever challenged his own political party?
-- Does Obama believe the world is dangerous, or only American policy?
-- Does Obama ever not say what an audience wants to hear?
The ad's script reads:
ANNCR: It was a time of uncertainty, hope and change. The "Summer Of Love." Half a world away, another kind of love -- of country.
John McCain: Shot down. Bayoneted. Tortured. Offered early release, he said, "No." He'd sworn an oath. Home, he turned to public service.
His philosophy: before party, polls and self ... America. A maverick, John McCain tackled campaign reform, military reform, spending reform.
He took on presidents, partisans and popular opinion. He believes our world is dangerous, our economy in shambles.
John McCain doesn't always tell us what we "hope" to hear. Beautiful words cannot make our lives better.
But a man who has always put his country and her people before self, before politics can.Don't "hope" for a better life. Vote for one.
JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.

They left out the love McCain feels for his wife and American people:
Do you remember - when John McCain publicly called his wife a c*nt?
Do you remember - when he called a young person in NH a JERK and told him that he would send him to Iraq?
Do you remember - when he shouted F--- you! at Texas Sen. John Cornyn last year?
Do you remember - when he said Only an a------ would put together a budget like this, to the former Budget Committee chairman, Sen. Pete Domenici, in 1999?
Do you remember - him saying I'm calling you a f------jerk! to Iowa
Sen. Chuck Grassley?
I do.... So please don't talk about McCain's LOVE....

Every time I see John and Cindy McCain I think of the "Wonderful Wizard of OZ". John reminds me of the scarecrow and Cindy reminds me of Dorothy.
With all of Cindy's money she could not buy John a brain.
LOVE!1:16PMJul 8th 2008
Did the add mention the love McCain feels for the poorest workers in America. You know the ones he voted to scr*w when he voted against raising the minimum wage in, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2006.
Does McCain Love The American Military1:24PMJul 8th 2008
Did the add mention how much McCain loves the American military?
You know the John McCain that does not know that 9-11 was caused by Osama Bin Laden not Sedam Hussein?
You know the John McCain that does not know if the Sunnis or Sheits are our enemies?
The same John McCain who missed 10 of the past 14 votes on Iraq?
The same John McCain who in September 2007: voted against the Webb amendment calling for adequate troop rest between deployments?
The same John McCain who in July 2007: voted against a plan to drawdown troop levels in Iraq?
The same John McCain who in March 2007 was too busy to vote on a bill that would require the start of a drawdown in troop levels within 120 days with a goal of withdrawing nearly all combat troops within one year?
The same John McCain who in February 2007 didn’t even bother to show up to vote against a resolution condemning it? For such a strong supporter of the escalation, McCain didn’t even bother to show up and vote for it?
The John McCain who in June 2006, voted against a resolution that Bush start withdrawing troops but with no timeline to do so?
The John McCain who in May 2006, voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities?
The John McCain who in April 2006, was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans?
Are we talking about the John McCain who in March 2006, voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes?
The John McCain who in March 2004, once again voted for abusive tax loopholes over veterans when he voted against creating a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating abusive tax loopholes. Jeez, McCain really loves those tax loopholes for corporations, since he voted for them over our veterans' needs?
The John McCain who in October 2003, voted to table an amendment by Senator Dodd that called for an additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq and to reduce the amount provided for reconstruction in Iraq by $322,000,000?
The John McCain who in April 2003, urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests?
The same John McCain that believes that we should stay the course for as long as possible but is not willing to support the people he puts in harms way.
John McCain does not love the American Military.
