McCain: Economy 'In Shambles'
Jul 8th 2008 12:13PM
Filed Under:eRepublicans, Ads, John McCain, 2008 President, Media
tighter message control. The results have been poor so far, with the released of McCain's re-hashed and re-panned economic plan yesterday, and a speech in which he declared, "All of us know what is happening to the economy. It is slowing." That assessment was widely ridiculed in the media as a gross understatement. Apparently, someone managed to beam "Countdown" back in time to the McCain campaign of several days ago, as they shot their new campaign ad, "Love."
He believes our world is dangerous, our economy in shambles.Is he running for president, or auditioning for "Mad Max?"
The rest of the ad is no treasure, either. Check it out.
Here's the script for the ad. The second half of the ad seems to have been taken from Hillary Clinton's vault.
ANNCR: It was a time of uncertainty, hope and change. The "Summer Of Love."First of all, I hope that this ad puts to rest the myth that McCain doesn't exploit his military service. Carpetbagger has a nice recap on that subject. If he keeps going to this well, he risks drying it up. He should stick to letting others call him a hero. It's not like they ever miss a chance.
Half a world away, another kind of love -- of country.
John McCain: Shot down. Bayoneted. Tortured.
Offered early release, he said, "No." He'd sworn an oath.
Home, he turned to public service.
His philosophy: before party, polls and self ... America.
A maverick, John McCain tackled campaign reform, military reform, spending reform.
He took on presidents, partisans and popular opinion.
He believes our world is dangerous, our economy in shambles.
John McCain doesn't always tell us what we "hope" to hear.
Beautiful words cannot make our lives better.
But a man who has always put his country and her people before self, before politics can.
Don't "hope" for a better life. Vote for one.
McCain.
JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.
Second of all, even if you agree with McCain on the substance, this ad is piss-poor marketing. He hitches his maverick appeal to this unappealing sentence: " John McCain tackled campaign reform, military reform, spending reform." He comes off like the meanest dad on your block, who wants to cut your allowance and keep you from hanging around with your friends.
This would all be forgivable if the ad actually had any substance to it, but it doesn't. All you're left with is a cranky guy, who disagrees with himself and makes fun of "hope."
McCain is a better politician than this. Perhaps he didn't shake his staff up hard enough last week.

They actually show footage of him 'doddering'. I hate to say this but he looks just like Hank Hills father on 'King of the Hill'. It would be really evil if someone took footage of that character and used McCains voice.

Just a few days ago McCain said the economy was 'psychological' what is he thinking if at all?
Brian McNamara1:56PMJul 8th 2008
Gee, who do have to blame for the economic problems and fear feeding frenzy of an unsafe world? Why the Republicans. They do not give us hope, they give us a fear mongering approach. They have continued and continued to increase the deficit. It was only when the Democrats became the majority in both houses of Congress did fiscal conservatism become cool with the Republicans....until now when they are on the chopping block for the November election. From 2001 to 2007 the Republicans squandered many opportuniites to demonstrate fair and effective leadership and that is why they are in a very very incredible desparate situation in this election year. You reap what you sew.
The intellect of John McCain1:59PMJul 8th 2008
Excuse me!
Is this the same John McCain that said:
Its all in your head folks.
John McCain says the economic downturn is psychological. Having on multiple occasions admitted his limited understanding of the economy, Senator McCain instead turned armchair psychologist to diagnose the U.S economic slowdown. In April, McCain told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that a lot of our problems today, as you know, are psychological. Apparently, seven months of job losses, oil at $140 a barrel, record gas prices at the pump, 47 million uninsured and a devastating home foreclosure crisis are merely figments of Americans’ imaginations.

Is this the same John McCain that said you are better off under George Bush?
The John McCain that said we made great progress economically during the Bush years. If Americans financial woes are all in their heads, John McCain's assessment of George W. Bush's economic leadership is pure hallucination. When asked by Bloomberg's Peter Cook on April 17 if Americans would say they are better off today than before George Bush took office more than seven years ago, McCain replied: I think if you look at the overall record and millions of jobs have been created, et cetera, et cetera, you could make an argument that there's been great progress economically over that period of time.
MAY I SAY FLIP-FLOP?
The McCain Flip Flop2:22PMJul 8th 2008
Lets see what has John McCain has done to help the 95% percent of the American people that make less then 1/4 million dollars per year in all of his years in the Senate?
I know that he voted against raising the minimum wage in, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2006.
How many hours does it take a McDonalds worker to fill their gas tank?
But boy he really took care of his wife and her friends with huge tax breaks on the back of generations to come.

Which new financial advisor told McCain that we are in an economic down turn?
Funny! change of staff - change if message!
But please! that is not a flip flop.

Both McCain and Hussein suck! We got one that is too old to be president who will do nothing but stick to the same old, tired Bush policies; and the other who is nothing but a fake, phony racist who PROMISES change. All he has shown is that he can give a speech. Yeah, so did that lunatic Hitler. Pathetic.
Mark my words: Hussein will get to the White House and promote affirmative action and give preference to Blacks with a token White thrown in. He will entertain Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and maybe his old "pastor" Wright and probably White-bash all day with his bigoted wife as well.
People in this country are complete morons to believe that a human being can work miracles, yet they keep right on hanging all their hopes on mortals. The only person who can help the us is God and I'm sure He's had enough. This country is in bad shape and I can't help but think the originators of the Constitution would be rolling in their graves to see the once great U.S. be in such turmoil with two more idiots feeding us a line of shit.

Dear Suzanne Meade:
And what is your answer?
The corrupt white trash Clinton's?
Thank God the American people have spoken and we will not be treated to 4 more years of Clinton Gates!
Thank goodness that the Clinton's arranging to sabotage the plane Obama is using was caught before a Vince Foster happened to Obama and the plane full of reporters and staff.

AND WHAT HAS THE FAR LEFT LIB CONGRESS DONE LATELY! DO THEY AND OBAMA HAVE A VIABLE ENERGY PLAN - NO. IF IT'S NOT GREEN IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE. AT LEAST MCCAIN SAYS DRILL HERE DRILL NOW. FOLKS - THINGS ARE GOING TO GET A WHOLE LOT WORSE BEFORE THEY GET BETTER. HEATING AND COOLING YOUR HOMES, DRIVING YOUR CARS, FEEDING YOUR FAMILIES - IT ALL COSTS A HELL OF A LOT MORE NOW BECAUSE OF THE PRICE OF OIL. OBAMA HAS A 20 YEAR PLAN - GOOD FOR HIM BUT WHAT ABOUT THE NEXT 19 YEARS.

One of the reasons Hanoi John Kerry, the true ‘American Traitor’, went down so hard in defeat was his elitist attitude. Apparently the liberals need something to attack in order to make them feel better about their continual losses. Zell Miller was right in 2004: “A democratic party no more!”
This election is new territory for our country and it does not look bright; and in my humble opinion, if the Democratic Party continues to control Congress, they will continue to divide our country.
This election has proven one thing: ‘We the People’ is no longer viable; it is ‘We the powerbrokers’!
What you NEED to have — in order to be the Democratic Nominee:
1) Backers with power;
2) Backers with big money;
3) Ability to ‘act/perform’ (poker-face);
4) Great speech writers;
5) MSM in back pocket;
6) DNC in back pocket.
What you DON’T NEED to have — in order to be the Democratic
Nominee:
1) Credibility;
2) Experience;
3) Character;
4) Issue Resolutions;
5) Pride in Country;
THE DNC AND BIASED MEDIA ARE DESTROYING AMERICA — BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA WAS “SELECTED” — NOT “ELECTED”.
VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN IN 2008 - HILLARY IN 2012.

Instead of using this forum for something positive like "equal pay for equal work," you die hard Hillary fans are hell bent on making this millionaire richer while your pay checks will remain the same for many more years.
If the Constitution was such a perfect document, why have been required to continually add amendments.
God is helping you. He sent you Senator Barack Obama. It's your choice to use this gift or discard him.

Another "pity party" for John McCain. I took a good look at him when he was released and he had a "double chin." Not gaunt and malnourished like one would expect. There's much more to his story. Why was he called "The Prince" by his captors?
Still further, why has he failed to release his complete military records.

Duzanne you are the one who sounds bigoted. If you look at what Obama has done you will discover that he is not for affirmative action, but believes that one must work hard to get ahead. Certainly he wants to improve the opportunities for blacks, but his policy is not to give it to them without the work. And he is not a white basher, his speech on race relations was historic. And his wife is not a bigot either, her comments "first time in my adult life I am really proud" had to do with the political situation. Besidea are you really proud of the 4100 dead soldires, tens of thousands crippled, hundred of thosands dead Iraqi, a three trillion dollar expense going to Haliburton and a entire world that hates us. You are proud of that and you call Miclelle bigoted?

I thought it was McCane who broke and gave Hanoi information on his mission and signed a confession to being a war criminal? John Kerry was the guy who ran the boat at a machine gun emplacement. I think you are confused or did you just make all that up in your head?
