Obama, McCain Court Hispanics

Yesterday, both John McCain and Barack Obama addressed the annual League of United Latino Citizens conference in Washington D.C. At 15% of the population, Latinos are now the country's largest minority, and, as a consequence, the presidential candidates are working hard to secure the lion's share of their votes. Latinos also represent the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. voting population, so you can expect the courtship to become a fixture in American politics. Back in 2004, George W. Bush won an estimated 40% of the Latino vote. But if the Daily Standard's Matthew Continetti is right, this time around, things might not be so good for the GOP. Attending yesterday's speeches in D.C., Matthew reports...
Obama appeared late in the afternoon. There was more energy in the ballroom, more campaign signage, more people, and louder music. The elevator muzak that had preceded McCain's speech was replaced with Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie." McCain's speech felt like your typical rubber-chicken affair. Obama's felt like a party. And Obama made the wise choice of having one of the nation's senior-most Latino elected officials, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, introduce him. McCain might've had Florida Senator Mel Martinez do the same for him. He didn't. The LULAC leadership introduced McCain.
Obama brought the audience to its feet when he entered and exited the stage. He had them cheering throughout. His speech used the theme of diversity to argue for immigration reform and economic policies aimed at the Latino working class. This is the LULAC's bread and butter, and the audience ate it up. The room clearly supported the Illinois senator.
I feel for McCain on this one. He should be applauded for his work on the immigration bill, but now he has to hide what he believes in so as to placate the right-wing of his party. He'll hemorrhage Latino support as a result. A senator from a border state who favors sensible immigration reform he should be running strong with Hispanics. Instead, he even trails Obama with Latinos in Arizona.
If polls on the subject are to be trusted, the assumption that Latinos won't vote for Obama because he is black is nothing more than a myth.

At first I thought that Obama was the right person to bring us change that was fair to all US citizens, but as we get deeper into the race it has become evident that Obama is just another politician that goes around saying and making promises to voters what they want to hear at that moment and flip flops just to please another group. If necessary he will throw any group under the bus. So look out folks.

I wonder how black people feel when they learn that they are no longer the largest minority in America, even though they breed like rabbits?
The largest minority gets most of the freebies in this country. This country is full of people who see the government as a huge benefit hog that they can scurry up to and suck off of.
Maybe Blacks can play catch up by downloading more welfare babies into the system.
What's amazing about Latinos being the largest minority is that they accomplished this feat even though most of them can't speak English!

You know you read comments from this guy 'RustyShackleford' calling Blacks welfare babies & if you where a regular stupid redneck or some one who doesnt research the facts you would believe him. However it's no true. More whites per capita or percentage are on welfare than Blacks & Hispanics. But Blacks are constantly used as the wipping horse for this controversy over welfare.
dabrigadier1:04PMJul 9th 2008
NIX your just as bad & just as stupid as 'RustyShackleford' you talk about hispanic pride out of one corner of your mount then call Obama weak out of the other corner. The guy who just wipped the shit out of the Clinton Machine both of them & did it with out a scrach. You don't understand strength my friend. Your Idea of strength is right in line with your weak views of John Mc Same & George dumb Bush & how the world works. Get a clue you idiot & dont start talking a bout strength before you mention smarts this is the information age not the age of empires. What you think you can kill all the so called terrorist too hum. Then get you dumb ass on the plane over to Iraq & try my foolish friend. You & John Mc Same can go over there together & if we are lucks dont come back.

This Democrat Latino of Mexican descent is voting for McCain in November.
Any and all latinos voting for Obama have another thing coming. Read his policies! Then research the disastrous policies of Jimmy Carter. You will find they are very similar. Latinos suffered greatly under Carter's economic plan and social programs. Carters relations with Latino countries were disastrous.
So as Latinos voting for Obama, get prepared for lower wages than you are earning now. Be prepared to see a return of latino children supplementing their parents income, thus adding to the high statistics of high school drop outs. If you are lucky that you can possibly get to college, get comfortable at the very end of the line, because at the front of the line will be whites and blacks then the asians then the refugees and immigrants from all over the world. By the time you get to a counselor be prepared to be pushed into the vocational and/or skill building courses. Just like the Carter years all over again.
Trust me, I survived the Carter years. Oh and welfare for latino's Forget about it because if you want food stamps you absolutely can not be employed.
Just remember, Latinos have never ever fared well under a Liberal President. That is why so many Latinos have consistently voted Republican. Because sadly Republicans reward hard work and determination. We may be Democrats at heart but we gotta eat. Do not be fulled by Obama, you will as a latino get the very short end of a knubby stick.

David Knowles has absolutely no clue about any of this.
For a real discussion of BHO's speech, see this:
http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/007809.html
That discusses yet another BHO lie, links to a different recent BHO lie, and links to background on the group he spoke to. And, everything at those links is something AOL doesn't cover above.

Someone just sent me this link to a comprehensive video covering Barack Obama. In it...is a complete history of where he came from, what he thinks, things he's said (in his OWN voice) and I'm sure he hoped that they would be lost and forgotten forever, but someone has captured them and put them on this shocking video for all to see and hear. It is called "Connect The Dots."Please watch and listen to this video and share it with others. It is the only way we can wake people up in time and try and stop this "Changeling" from overtaking the White House in November.God help us all...!!!http://www.eyeblast.tv/Public/Video.aspx?rsrcID=2036

McCain co-authored the immigration bill that died a quick death. Conservatives were furious with him for it; so now to appease them, he will speak only about builiding a wall and border security when in front of them. Yet when McCain spoke with Governor Terminator and an audience last month in California, he was pro-comprehensive immigration reform. The speech was as liberal as anything Ted Kennedy would have given; it received little air play, I happend to catch it on the radio. Seems McCain adjusts his view depending on the audience he is in front of.
So much for 'straight talk.'

Both these candidates along with congress remind me of Nero; who fiddled away as Rome burned. We are on the verge of recession, primarily due to the sub-prime lending practices of lenders in the housing industry and oil, and neither of these candidates nor congress has any idea what to do. Why on earth should I vote for any of these knuckleheads? Start drilling our own oil now, develope a comprehensive plan for clean burning fuels for the future. These steps alone will free us from the slavery of middle east oil and then we can bring our troops home.

What a concocted crock of crap this is. You no more understand Latinos than you do John McCain.
"I feel for McCain on this one. He should be applauded for his work on the immigration bill, but now he has to hide what he believes in so as to placate the right-wing of his party."
What makes you think McCain is hiding anything he believes in to placate the right-wing party? If anything he defied them. Yes, the Latinos do know what McCain and Hillary Clinton’s immigration policy has meant to them and I believe the majority of them have already seen through the facade of Obama's loud music and empty promises. You insult their intelligence and you underestimate their power when you try to stuff that phony Rock Star image of Barack Obama down their throats. I think you need another vacation. This time; don't hurry back.

You are so right. So don't be surprised when that traitor Richardson is asked to be Obama's VP. At this point, Obama will do just about anything to win the Latino vote. The Latinos hold the power to throw Obama where he belongs....under the "bus" of his own making.

THIS IS MIND BOGGLING
Before you vote for Barak Hussein Obama, it will be well advised that you read about the muslim "shariah law" and its impact on your freedoms and finance.
Read about Shariah-Compliant Finance - case pending brought by American investment group Cantor Fitzgerald against Dubai Islamic Bank.
One item of interest is the "zakat" or the "puriefied" funds to islamic charities which can land up with terrorists.
(Barak Hussein Obama was on the board of one of these muslim "charitable" firms in Chicago the Woods Foundation).
Here is the link!
