Network News Anchors in Obama's Entourage
As predicted, the mainstream media has jilted John McCain and embraced Obama as the hot new thing:
The three network anchors will travel to Europe and the Middle East next week for Barack Obama's trip, adding their high-wattage spotlight to what is already shaping up as a major media extravaganza.
Lured by an offer of interviews with the Democratic presidential candidate, Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric will make the overseas trek, meaning that the NBC, ABC and CBS evening newscasts will originate from stops along the route and undoubtedly give it big play.
John McCain has taken three foreign trips in the past four months, all unaccompanied by a single network anchor.
Obama has "proven adept at generating excitement," says David Folkenflik, media correspondent for National Public Radio. He said the anchors hope "a little bit of that excitement will rub off on their newscasts if they can convey an American phenomenon abroad, if that's what it turns out to be. Senator McCain is not as magnetic a figure in that way."
Well he's certainly adept at generating something, but I do have to agree that the words "McCain" and "magnetic" probably do not belong in the same sentence.
But have you seen the nightly news ratings? They need all the excitement they can get. But all three of them following the Obamessiah. Come on, that's a little unseemly and transparent, even for the mainstream media. One at a time guys, one at a time...
Oh and all of you GOPers who were urging us to vote for McCain in the primaries because he had such a great relationship with the media... now what?

The Media stooges would follow Barack Obama into the jaws of hell if necessary. Well, they might get just that. If this puppet is elected president, it will be interesting to see how these Media morons react to his tax and spend programs when it's their pay checks that "supposedly" will also be affected.

MAYBE HE'LL SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE MIDDLE EAST ON HIS FACT FINDING TRIP - AFTER ALL HE IS THE VERY TALENTED, ARTICULATE AND BRILLIAN OBAMA! THIS IS ALL A DOG AND PONY SHOW FOR VOTES AND WE ALL KNOW IT. ALL OF A SUDDEN HE IS INTERESTED IN GOING TO IRAQ, ONLY AFTER MCCAIN OFFERED TO TAKE HIM THERE.
Caryn3:10PMJul 17th 2008
You'd think the broadcast media would have learned a painful and embarrassing lesson when they were manipulated by Rumsfeld as "embeds" for the Iraq invasion. They ended up perverting the truth because they were so taken with themselves. This isn't surprising for Brian Wilson and Katie Couric, but I am a little surprised at a real journalist like Charlie Gibson getting all wrapped up in the access as opposed to the facts, period. i don't like it one bit, and I don't trust their reporting will be ethical.

going to iraq means nothing...mccain has being to iraq..did that stop him from making a wrong decision on invading iraq..
come on foxy...your thinking here is so flawed...
you are saying that a person can only make a correct decision on a matter..if only he travels to that place,,
ok foxy
lets think like u..lol
reagan never traveled to soviet union..but made all the correct decisions to end the cold war....
so how is that possible foxy?

Someone just sent me this link to a comprehensive video covering Barack Obama. In it...is a complete history of where he came from, what he thinks, things he's said (in his OWN voice) and I'm sure he hoped that they would be lost and forgotten forever, but someone has captured them and put them on this shocking video for all to see and hear. It is called "Connect The Dots."Please watch and listen to this video and share it with others. It is the only way we can wake people up in time and try and stop this "Changeling" from overtaking the White House in November.God help us all...!!!http://www.eyeblast.tv/Public/Video.aspx?rsrcID=2036

If you saw the media bias when Hillary was still running then this shouldn't come as no surprise to anyone.
I heard last night that these three networks had to give up a lot so these reporters could make this trip. Other reporters for these networks have been asked to take days off, work on small projects and other requests which just didn't seem reasonable to the reporters.
I hope those who have been told to take a back seat and shut-up, go on strike.

Why would the media accompany Mccain on his trip to sell his so-called "free trade" agreement to Canada, Mexico and Columbia. What's news about trying to ship American jobs overseas. I think the networks did John McCain a favor by not covering those trips much because of the backlash it would have generated for John McCain. Nobody has appetite for another NAFTA type agreement. This shows that Dave (this blogger)doesn't think through things before blogging. Dave, try to be a strategic thinker not a tactical thinker. And, that's again the difference between Obama and McCain. Obama is a strategic thinker and McCain is task-oriented (tell him what to do and he would do it, but can never think of it himself).

For unbiased news the best place is Public Television and the BBC. The mainstream media shamelessly promotes the party and candidates of their choice.

Another liberal stage show. These reporters are not following Obama to find out what he will do about Iraq if elected president. Obama already preempted that show with his (non)war (non)success plan.
At least McCain went to Iraq before he came up with the surge idea as his solution. I'm not a big fan of McCain, but this is a Obama's grandiose attempt to take the wind out of the sails of how right McCain was about the surge.
Obama needs this issue for his own, or at least for it to be neutralized. Just like he needs high gas prices to be Bush's fault rather than Obama's liberal congress.
Something big will happen in Iraq other than cool interviews. I don't know what, but something will expose that Obama is out of his element as Commander In Chief.
I, further, predict that this trip will be the foundation upon which Obama sets his constituency up for the broken promise of total withdrawal within 16 months.
Time will tell, but if McCain didn't have such an upper hand on this issue, Barrack would never go to Iraq. He can plenty make up his mind sans info.
And you libs accuse Bush of this practice.
Wish Belkin4:27PMJul 17th 2008
They appointed him the presumptive nominee, why not President?
Big surprise.
Ron Paul for President !! (write it in)
Cecil Jones4:37PMJul 17th 2008
This is a non story about the Republican spinners trying to stop America from focusing on Iraq and their cry for freedom from an occupation. If we never see them cry out, some of us actually think they like having guns pointed at them. The Surge did what it was intended to do. It stopped our troops from dying needlessly. The Surge was necessary, but it did not do what needs to be done in Iraq. They are not free and that's the only way to judge success.
SM4:41PMJul 17th 2008
Instead of Iraq,Obama and the Three stooges should go to the mountains in Pakistan and talk to Bin Laden, maybe they will be MIA'S NO LOSE
Me4:41PMJul 17th 2008
9/11 WAS A HORRIBLE EVENT IN OUR HISTORY! SO WHY DID MCCAIN AGREE TO FIGHT IRAQ AND NOT STAY FOCUS ON THE ENEMY? WHY? PLS SOME ONE GIVE ME A LEGITIMATE ANSWER TO THAT BECAUSE I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A SO-CALLED WAR HERO WOULD TAKE HIS EYES OFF THE TARGET!!!
NOW HE WANT CREDIT FOR FIXING A MISTAKE HE AGREED WITH. THAT'S BULLSHIT!! SO WHAT THE SURGE WORKED. WILL THE SURGE BRING BACK THE DEAD SOLDIERS TOO?
THEY DEAD FIGHTING THE WRONG WAR...AND ITS THE McBush administration fault. VOTE OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!
rp-il4:45PMJul 17th 2008
The media needs the public's interest and McCain doesn't generate any. The republicans and McCain have basically adopted all of Obama's policies and that's not glamourous or newsworthy. From adopting Obama's 2 year call to increase Afganistan's prescence by 2 brigades to Obama's call to negotiate with our enemies, the republicans have basically needed to accept the plans he has been advocating in order to stay in the race.
Most of the rest of the world can see that an extraordiary policy visionary is finally available to America and they are excited about it. Only in the United States are there people who refuse to even look at facts before crying about a lack of plans or idiotic issues like John is trying to push.
The rest of the world has taken interest in his plans and are excited by them. That is news and needs to be available as news to this country.
Davidg4:56PMJul 17th 2008
So they are basically covering it as if he is already president.
What a shock!
Can you just see it now? The giddy plane ride, the moments of sadness. We will laugh, we will cry.
Some of us will throw up.
bonbon5:00PMJul 17th 2008
and there is nor has been any media bias.
yah right.
bonbon5:20PMJul 17th 2008
yes McCain did reach across party lines and invited Obama to go along with him, as a team.
yet Obama could not accept this gracious offer.
instead he has to have his own media circus, complete with clowns.
and I doubt had McCain not broached the subject, Obama never would have thought to make this trip of his own accord.
now ponder this.
with our economy as it stands right now, we as " Common people, " you know the " bitter, cling to our guns and religions types," are being asked to reduce our fuel consumption, by turning our thermostats down, by traveling less, car pooling, or using public transport where available.
and the two of them traveling together, certainly would have saved something,
but again, don't do as I do, but do as I say. one rule for the common people and another for Obama.
what a great opportunity this would have been for Obama to practice what he preaches. but then he could not be the center of attention, now could he.
David S.5:22PMJul 17th 2008
Well, Dave, you are correct - McCain did have a great relationship with the media - as a Senator. He is now running for President and has to endure the harsh glare of media scrutiny like any other candidate. Yet I have not noticed they are exactly unkind to him. I will agree there is bias here with the networks, but please do not act like the media has given Obama a free ride. How long did the networks (cable and mainstream, not to mention print media) beat the Rev. Wright issue to death? How long did they play out the Obama/Clinton slugfest?
McCain has been around a long time in Washington and has had numerous trips abroad. This is Obama's first one, and yeah, it is overplayed, but please don't act like the media hates McCain.
