Top Clinton Donors Meet with McCain Camp
Jul 17th 2008 4:15PM
Filed Under:eHillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain, 2008 President
The Wall Street Journal reports that Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO and senior adviser to Sen. John McCain, met with a group of 25 prominent supporters and fundraisers for Sen. Hillary Clinton at a private home in Westchester County, NY. The group included several so-called "Hillraisers," each of whom have raised in excess of $100,000 for Clinton's failed primary campaign. The meeting was repeatedly sought by the Hillary supporters and is at least the second such meeting between backers of Clinton and the McCain campaign. An organizer of the meeting, Amy Siskind, said that the pro-Hillary groups represented pledged to help deliver, "hundreds of thousands and maybe millions of votes," to McCain if the groups find areas of agreement between themselves and his campaign.
News of the meeting will not be comforting to the campaign of Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama, who has been trying to close ranks behind his campaign after a contentious primary season. Clinton has endorsed Obama and has made fund raising and campaign appearances with him. She has also asked her supporters to get behind Obama's campaign. Still, polls show that Obama could lose a portion of Clinton's support in the general election, and the McCain campaign has been trying to exploit the differences between Obama and Clinton's supporters.

If Obama is truly smart, which his Harvard background indicates, he will select Hillary as VP and instantly claim the womens' vote. (Not to mention those 18 million Hillary votes.) Plus, she is the most qualified on his short list. The Dream Ticket means certain victory for the Dems. If, instead, Obama lets sexism and his ego rule and doesn't pick Hillary, he might lose a close election to McCain.

Ruby:
Thanks for sharing the article. I think it speaks for many, many women who feel Obama is a typical male sexist, but worse an empty suit. Look closely at his record in public and read his books. He hasn't done much and has been the receipient of extraordinary good luck on many occasions throughout his life and professional career.

Well, that's what the DNC gets for screwing yet another election by getting greedy rather than focusing on winning an election for Americans.

Puma's have destroyed Obama's chances at the White House. The only way he can win is by cheating. I wonder if that is why he made a private deal with the Teamsters
Obamabots are in a panic.
Clinton donors are refusing to give to Obama. Who else is closing their checkbook? Obamabots who are revolted by Obamas reversal of positon on almost eery major issue? Special interest groups who realize Obama cannot win the swing states, so cannot win the election?
Obama is even losing support among blacks.
Obama has lost the support of people who are revolted by his racist, sexist, and bigoted views.
Sen Jim Webb refused to be considered as an Obama VP. Webb is seen as a leader and champion of the working class.
Obama is the gold standard of hatred of women and his sexist campaign has done so much harm that it will probably take a generation to erase the lingering stain on our national fabric.
Women will vote McCain over Obama in a heartbeat.
One has to wonder if the fact Obama's male role models were Muslim ( they consider women to be worth only 1/2 of a man ) is the reason for Obama;s inate distain for women
If McCain was smart he would offer the VP slot to Clinton.

I have never voted for a Republican but that is exactly what I will do if he doesn't choose Hillary for VP. Anyone know how to write in Hillary for Pres?

If Barck looses because these sore loser witches support the pro war, anti abortion, anti health care for kids, white guy, Hillary and her hubby would have zero power in the party. This has gone on too long for I told you so, and if she can't deliver these spoiled ovary voters, she is usless in the pary.

Carly Fiorina was booted from HP for her underhanded spying tchniques on Board Members...she is very skilled to work for Republican's. Underhanded spying and mischief is thier calling card...anyone remember Milhouse? I think he was a repube.

By meeting & possibly aliegning with McBush these Hillraisers are signing Hillary's political death warrent. If McBush wins, Hillary will never come as close to being president as she did this time, she won't even be in the top 3 democrat contenders next time, & if by some chance she does win the nomination in 2012, that just means 4 more years of McBush. We can't afford the first 4 years of McBush, much less 8 years.

IF THE REPUBLICANS WOULD ALLOW MCCAIN TO HAVE HILLARY AS VP, THEY WOULD HAVE IT ALL. TWO PERSONS WHO WOULD BE MORE DOWN THE MIDDLE AND COULD WORK ACROSS THE LINE. I THINK WE WOULD HAVE A WINNER. HOW EVER WE WOULD NOT WANT HILLARY TO JOIN WITH OBAMA AS VP. HE WILL GO DOWN IN NOV.
Bettybb6:47PMJul 17th 2008
Clinton gave Obama a chance. She supported him and his donors should have stepped up to the plate and retired her debt, and the DNC and Obama should have acknolwedged her power within the party and treated her and her supporters, women, moderates and the working class with respect.
Instead it is just more of the same old sexism and bigotry out of the Obama camp.
So Clinton's donors are proposing a deal. McCain's big donors give to Clinton to retire her debt, and Clinton's donors raise the equivalent money for McCain. Plus McCain gets the political bragging rights of having Dem donors turn their back on Obama.
If Obama was smart, which is he not, he would make sure within the next 2 days that his big special interst donors retire Clinton's debt.
If McCain is smart, he will ask Clinton to be his VP.

wrong. Clinton has women, moderates and the working class supporting her. She will also pull in the independents. She does not need the left Dems. But the left Dems need her, as they have recently discovered.

Keep it up. With each hateful racist, sexist, biogoted posts like this, you are guaranteeing more people will join the PUMA camp.
Your ideas exemplify the rot at the core of the Democratic Party, at the core of the Obama campaign, and have shredded the big tent that was once the Democratic Party.

I am a republican voter who admits that I find a lot to admire about Hillary Clinton, She was the only Viable Democratic candidate. She had the experience and Knowledge necessary to run the country there is no doubt! On the other Hand Obama has nothing to offer America other than the ability to read a caned speeches fluently and convincingly from a TelePrompTer! His racist ties and unpatriotic behavior have convinced me this is the very last person I would ever want to see in the Oval Office! As for me? I Welcome MY FELLOW AMERICANS FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, I, AM, THAT WE CAN FIND COMMON GROUND ON WHICH TO UNITE! And as for defeating Obama? YES WE CAN !!

You know..Come to think about it..If McCain would pick Hillery for VP, he would win by a landslide....McCain are you listening. Every Hillery backer would vote for you in a heartbeat, myself and friends included...

Barack Obama will need the votes of women in November.
This article tells how Barack Obama walked over Alice Palmer to win his Illinois State Senate seat:
By Valentine Bonnaire
There will be backlash, Barack Obama, when you attempt to squelch women’s voices…
March 13, 2008
We are all well aware of your ego inflation by now. We have watched the media use the most heinous practices against Hillary Clinton in order to trample her down and crush her, and we’ve watched you apply the same tactics, too, throughout this campaign.
Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro do not owe you any apologies for anything they have said, nor do they owe the American public an apology.
The truth of the matter is that you look like a bully and a chump. Perhaps you are, aren’t you?
For instance, what happened in Chicago to Alice Palmer? She was a Black Woman that you managed to just sweep aside, didn’t you? The truth about what you did to her is right here in WordPress, hot off
the presses of the Chicago Tribune. Thanks to whoever has been kind enough to set up the blog “Against Obama.”
These are some VERY dirty tricks you pulled. Very, very dirty tricks on Alice Palmer. It was 1996, wasn’t it?
From the article above:
“The day after New Year’s 1996, operatives for Barack Obama filed into a barren hearing room of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
There they began the tedious process of challenging hundreds of signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer, the longtime progressive activist from the city’s South Side. And they kept challenging petitions until every one of Obama’s four
Democratic primary rivals was forced off the ballot.”
Operatives? You had operatives back then? How interesting. The article goes on:
“Palmer served the district in the Illinois Senate for much of the 1990s. Decades earlier, she was working as a community organizer in the area when Obama was growing up in Hawaii and Indonesia. She
risked her safe seat to run for Congress and touted Obama as a suitable successor, according to news accounts and interviews.
But when Palmer got clobbered in that November 1995 special congressional race, her supporters asked Obama to fold his campaign so she could easily retain her state Senate seat.
Obama not only refused to step aside, he filed challenges that nullified Palmer’s hastily gathered nominating petitions, forcing her to withdraw.
“I liked Alice Palmer a lot. I thought she was a good public servant,” Obama said. “It was very awkward. That part of it I wish had played out entirely differently.”
It’s VERY disturbing to a white feminist to see what you did to a woman of color, Senator Obama. One of your own “people.” You pushed her right out of your way.
You know, to a lot of us feminists, you don’t look good. Your tactics with Hillary Clinton and now Geraldine Ferraro are no different than with Alice Palmer are they? Misogyny on your part just makes you look bad, really, really, bad.
Not to mention your “operatives.”
You see, to a feminist, Alice Palmer is my sister, just like Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro are. Alice Palmer and the work she did in Chicago is as important as any other woman’s. It’s as important as yours.
Your “operatives” this time around, have target-marketed you right onto the computer screens of an American public who knows almost nothing about you politically. You’ve used advertising, one of the oldest tricks in the book to promote yourself as some rising white ball dawning over a disgruntled heartland.
Many of us question your substance.
Many of us have no intention of voting for a logo. Or the various permutations of your logo so that it can be made “one size fits all.”
You’ve managed to raise tons and tons of money to advance your own agenda this time around by using the web for advertising in a time when the FEC is oddly enough “on hold.”
Feminists from the second wave see right through you, Obama.
Yes, we do.
