Obama Still Against The Surge
What is the word you use to cover a situation where a politician freely admits that they took a position that was not the right thing to do just to win an election. Somehow "gaffe" doesn't quite stretch to fit... Obviously this will cause some teeth gnashing on the right, but little else of effect, because Iraq is off the table, it's summer and most normal Americans are not paying attention/don't care enough yet.
RCP has the hard poll numbers to back this up:
MI: Economy 56, Iraq 18
CO: Economy 47, Iraq 19
MN: Economy 51, Iraq 21
WI Economy 50, Iraq 20
It's the economy, stupid. Best case scenario for the GOP; this could add to the perception that Obama is a speechmaker extroardinaire, and little else.
Tip to RedState, and I have to agree, if I were ABC, I would be nervous about getting left behind on the trip back.

If we never went into Iraq there would have been no need for a surge.
If we never went into Iraq there would be over 4,000 beautiful Americans alive today.
If we never went into Iraq thousands of young Americans would not have had their lives ruined with horrific wounds.
If we never went into Iraq in the last five years we would have been able to find the people responsible for 9-11.
If we never went into Iraq our economy would not be in shambles.
If we never went into Iraq we would have been able to concentrate on conditions our own nation.

There is a point here about the economy. The Republicans had 8 years to tinker with the economy. They had the majority in both the Senate and the House. What happen over these years? 1. Continuos Loss of Jobs
2. Continuous lack of support for the domestic economy. 3. Lack of imagination and vision. The Republicans only respond to problems and are not proactive until they feel election doom. Even then in 2006, the action that was taken was a day too late. So now you see veto proof domestic legistlation as a counter reaction to the neglect over the past 71/2 years so the Republicans can save their jobs.

MCCIAN, ID SAY THE TIME TO ATTACK OBAMA IS NOW...HE IS TALKING NONSENSE AND YOU ARE LETTING HIM GET AWAY WITH IT. LINE UP ALL YOURT SUPPORTERS AND LET THEM ATTACK HIM FROM EVERY MISTAKE HE MAKES.OBAMA IS NAVIE. YOU LEAVE BAGDAD, YOU GOT MAJOR TRIBAL WAR IN MONTHS... STUPID.

ME12:54PMJul 22nd 2008
TJ u are the one who's naive. I mean think about it...how can u with confidence say that McLame should attack Obama because of his mistakes. MCLAME has made more mistakes, aka GAFFS on damn near every topic he's addressed. THAT IS A KNOWN FACT. IF MCLAME ATTCAK OBAMA ON FLIP-FLOPS OR GAFFS THEN HE WOULD BE SEEN AS A HYPOCRITE! THE #1 ARGUMENT U GUYS HAVE IS THAT OBAMA HAS NO EXPERIENCE...BUT HERE'S MCLAME WITH ALL THE GAFFS AND CONFUSION IN HIS OWN STATEMENTS!!! HE'S SUPPOSE TO KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT RIGHT?
ITS OBVIOUS THAT BARACK OBAMA IS MORE SMARTER AND WISER THATN MCLAME IS. THIS GOES TO SHOW THAT EXPERIENCE WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING and INTELLIGENCE IS NOTHING BUT A WAISTE OF TIME!!!!!!!!

“Would everyone --- military, Iraqis and Americans --- all be talking about timetable if the surge had not happened, and not been successful?
Now --- with increasing success --- supporting a time table seems wise --- but what if there had been no surge?
And don’t forget that Junior Senator Obama was opposed to the surge but now cleverly is in position to take credit for the timetable discussion.
Obama’s campaign is clever — taking the surge and using it now to their advantage. This is just like a good trial lawyer. Junior Senator Obama is getting great media coverage and credit back here in the United States. Most (all?) are euphoric at the thought of getting out.”
Would someone out there tell me WHY this trip means anything to the general election, besides getting Obama more free publicity?
Tell me how this gives him experience to deal with our allies/enemies?
I am all ears, pun intended, but unlike your candidate, I can be swayed to change my opinion if given a compelling enough reason.
Obama stated his stance of the war on terror innumerous times in his short time in the Senate and during his campaign for the democratic nomination. He still is sticking by those stances, though, slowly changing them one at a time.
Obama must explain why he has changed any of his stances.
McCain has been accused of being the biggest ” flip-flopper “ --- the thing is: McCain “explains” --- Obama “complains” (or might I say ‘whines’).
I’m voting for John McCain in November.
Rias101:24PMJul 22nd 2008
McCain is rude. He reduced a woman to tears during the 1992 hearing of the Senate Committee on POW/MIA Affairs.
McCain is crude. He has told jokes about Ape Rape, referred to the (retirement community) Leisure World as seizure world and said that Chelsea Clinton was ugly and her father is Janet Reno.
McCain doesn’t support veteran issues. 5/08 -voted against GI Bill. 9/07 -voted against bill to minimize periods of time between deployment of units to Iraq. 5/06, 4/06, 3/06, 3/04 – voted against increasing money to V.A. for medical services. 10/03 – voted to table an amendment for safety equipment for U.S. forces in Iraq. McCain may be a veteran but he doesn’t support important veteran issues.
McCain doesn’t support women issues. Opposed equal pay for women and legislation aimed at helping women sue in cases of pay discrimination on the grounds that it could make businesses vulnerable to frivolous lawsuits. Voted to gut the family and medical leave act. Voted to restrict women access to birth control and affordable prenatal healthcare. Voted against legislation that would require insurance companies to include contraceptives as part of their prescription drug coverage.
McCain is forgetful and can’t keep his facts straight. He told a TV audience in Pittsburg that when he was interrogated by the Viet Cong he gave them the names of the starting defensive line for the Pittsburg Steelers. In his book, Faith of Our Fathers, McCain wrote that it was the Green Bay Packers Offensive line.
McCain has missed 63% of votes in Senate this term which is more than any other Senator.

Obama Still against the surge when the surge has worked ? and someone called this dude smart ? I'll Vote McCain
Tuffyz1:39PMJul 22nd 2008
Obama has no military experience whatsoever and his trip to the middle east has proven itself to be an embarrassment to his campaign.
The man was wrong about the surge and he isn't even intelligent enough to admit his own mistake. If he can't admit to this mistake what makes anyone believe he would admit to any potential wrong doing ever?
He hasn't and he won't.
His denial reminds me of Donald Trumps hideous comb-over....No matter how hard he tries to make it "appear" that he isn't bald on top...THE MAN IS BALD!
Obama = Mr. Goodbody himself. His own ego caused his campaign to come crashing down. PATHETIC!
Obama's healthcare plan is NOT ACCEPTABLE! I REFUSE to pay for the medical care of all people who are here illegally with my hard earned tax dollars and that is EXACTLY what Obama proposes to do. The illegals will be coming here in droves to get medical care and all at our expense.
HELL NO OBAMA!
The Democratic presidential contender is an emtpy suit. American voters are very aware of his flaws and the worst part about it is that he polarizes his flaws himself...with the aide of the media.
quarterhorse1:43PMJul 22nd 2008
with age comes experience. Mccain has been a senator for many more years than the inexperienced obama. Obama votes "present because he is too lazy to think about the issue. Mccain is presidential, obama is not...easy choice, MCCAIN 08
SELECTED-NOT-ELECTED2:40PMJul 22nd 2008
Nobama is at it again. He is so "inexperienced" --- he doesn't have a clue. Yet, we want him for
President of the United States, yeah, right! NOT!
==================================
Junior Senator Obama said, "these are the people I'll be dealing with for the next 8 to 10 years." OMG --- This is like him saying he has visited 57 states!
Obama does not know how many states are in the union, or how long a Presidential term is, or how many terms a President is limited to.
The boy is a moron. What else is new?
McCAIN IN 2008.
STOP-THE-DRAMA-NO-OBAMA4:14PMJul 22nd 2008
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS ON A "WORLD TOUR" --- AT OUR EXPENSE --- AND HE'LL COME BACK AND EXPLAIN HIS "FOREGN EXPERIENCE". WHAT A JOKE.
Obama is an empty suit, created by the media with the help of the Chicago political machine. He is a weakling whose strings are manipulated by Kennedy, Kerry-Heinz and Joe Biden. He is at their beck and call and is unable to make a decision without their help.
An empty suit. Obama further created a cult which was incited to hate the Clintons and John McCain.
Along with the above three are Howard Dean, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, who are panting for Obama to become nominated --- they are further manipulation.
Pelosi wants to be the first female president.
The Democratic party is split and I for one, will be glad to see it buried and never alive again.
The big-wig democrats stabbed Hillary in the back.
I will vote for McCain and I will campaign that each of the above, when faced with their own re-election, may not win.
Obama is an unknown. He has told too many lies. He has no leadership experience and is not qualified to become president.
And, Yeah --- I AM A TYPICAL, HARD-WORKING, MIDDLE-CLASS, BLUE COLLAR PERSON. They should have counted Florida and Michigan. Florida voted. Both candidates were on the ticket. Michigan has an election in August. They should have added Hillary and Obama to the August ticket!
Vote for America!
Vote for John McCain in 2008 --- Hillary in 2012.
ANYBODY-BUT-OBAMA4:33PMJul 22nd 2008
I am livid regarding the anti-American comments made by the Junior Senator Barack Hussein Obama and Hanoi John Kerry.
The surge did work --- and is working!
Our troops have performed flawlessly and, as usual, the Democrats demean the job they have done.
I hope our troops are not discouraged because I am proud of each and every one of them and I wish I could give each of them a hug and say “I AM SO PROUD OF YOU".
Please remember these comments when you go to vote in November.
Mary8:45PMJul 22nd 2008
Barack Hussein OBama is making terrible gaffes on his trip. Notice how he doesn't just shake hands. With his left hand he grabs the foreign dignitary by his arm to hold him still until the photo op takes place. (Notice the dignitaries' body language - they don't like it.)
It's all about PR = nothing substantial -- Also, he is trying to make POLICY in spite of saying he would not. Is that another FLIP-FLOP? He is not representing the United States of America yet--- and does not deserve to get the chance.
America, wake up!!! Vote for experience, wisdom, and for someone truly dedicated to doing what is best for the USA. Vote McCain.

I would like to inform the replublicans and those others here, that the surge worked because the adversaries called a truce. Duhhhh
IT is called a cease fire. What it means is that all firing will cease.
It is spelled C-e-a-s-e f-i-r-e
It is not that the aurge worked, just as Obama said, the Iraqi themselves decided to work together.
But of course the replublicans take the credit and demean the smart one. I am so sick and tired of their lies...
